The original IT answer is that an option that is legit must be presented to prevent Shepard from realizing it's a trap. If destroy wasn't presented then Shepard would really start questioning what's going on even more.

The fact that refuse wasn't included til EC still baffles me

im still in the camp that says refuse is just fanservice with no real addition to the story, but i could be wrong. well see with leviathan.

honestly, if they added stuff to make a conventional victory possible with refuse while saying that IT is false, starbrat is real, etc., thatd be totally fine with me as long as i got my squadmate closure. thats all i want out of this game, and IT is just the best and most genius way to do it, not to mention the easiest

I could find something along those lines acceptable but still incredibly disappointing considering all the evidence we have gathered and analyzed that favors IT.

Destroy is also the only option that Starbrat tries to dissuade Shepard from taking. Starbrat is gung ho about him choosing either synthesis or control.

I'm in the middle between Refuse and Destroy. I want to see how Leviathan plays out. It may turn out to be just an extra side quest that can give you 500+ war assets or something for getting a Reaper to fight with you. I sincerely hope that is not the case.

We sure will Jgibson

Not sure how I'd feel about that. Anyways, if conventional victory is possible through refuse, why on earth would anyone choose anything else?

I theoretically don't have an issue with alternative ending dlc or even dlc that changes the ending retroactively. I think though that the launch ending should be complete ($180 just for the three games) and if refuse ends up becoming available, it's quite a slap in the face to those not buying dlc.

Seems it was the Reapers who made you shoot Anderson

According to the game's files.

What is "Anderson shot" (higher up) referring to then?

there are a few reaper shot files in there, along with the usual whispers and "big gunshot"?

i think the biggest piece of evidence from this is the fact that there are reaper anything. at all. in a literal view they have nothing to do with the story once harby flies off.

nice find though!!

Addendum: im not computer savvy in any way, so i have to ask are the files in chronological order? they seem like it but andersonshot is before the arrival on the citadel...

I'm not sure. I'm just speculating. ReaperShot could mean when they fired the gun, and AndersonShot could be when Anderson gets shot in his left side.

Sorry if that came off like an accusation. Good find indeed. Certainly ties in with Doomsday finding a slowed down reaper horn during that scene

i freaked a little when i saw these, i thought thered be masive speculations. so are the files in chronological order? they seem to be but anderson shot is before the arrival on the citadel. suppose "shot" could be referencing camera angles?

also, you use firefox? i thought the only reason to use anything other than chrome was to download chrome.

Huh? Chrome is ok, but I tend to leave my browser open on multiple tabs while I do other things, and I prefer not having 20 processes running at once.

I see. Refuse is a topic that we can't really come to a consensus on without more data. Leviathan will help us in that regard.

It's alphabetical order

Notice it says stop instead of play for second Reaper shot

Regarding what Anderson shot means...it has the same cinedesign name as whispers, which would seem to suggest audio files. It could be referring to the sound played during the camera switching to Anderson, but that just makes Reaper shot even more speculation worthy

I was reading some of the old posts. Seems like some people dislike the idea of the reapers sending Cerberus and Shepard to the Mars archives. :/ I still think it has some great evidence.

I still am open to the idea of the Reapers nudging Shepard and Cerberus to Mars, and the Glyph connection has some potential, but the evidence just isn't there for me. I'm still thinking we need more information to make any well-supported conclusions. If the Crucible truly is a trap, I think Leviathan will give us more evidence towards it.

I'm just sick of the "Hackett is indoctrinated" stuff. He's the guy that says, "[The Illusive Man]'s wrong. Dead Reapers is how we win this." He's the voice of the destroy ending. This guy's got his priorities straight and helps keep Shepard's straight as well.

For me, I see refuse as essentially just doing what TIM and Saren did.

Sure, their goals lined up with control and synthesis respectively, but in the end, they both chose to refuse to obey the Reapers and die free.

By picking refuse, unless further DLC better fleshes it out and makes survival possible through refuse, Shepard is essentially just killing herself as a way of beating indoctrination. Thats why I dont like it as much as destroy, where you break free and live to take the fight to the Reapers.

Oh, how I missed you Byne. I was getting tired of explaining that. Posted Image

To add to that, it fits BleedingUranium's comparison that Refuse is the simple paragon/renegade option, whereas destroy is the charm/intimidate option. Both try to achieve the same thing, but one is ultimately more successful. In this case, it probably means Shepard living or dying.

I totally agree. That's why I think the Hackett message is a reaper fake. It would be a very weird screw-up to have his scar on the wrong side there and only there. You know, not in the other missions with the exact same vidcomm of him.
Also, "Here's hoping that Curiosity doesn't find those damn Prothean archives... They're nothing but trouble."

I don't know banshee ...sounds like Hackett was expecting a mission report after Mars and the scar is correct in that scene

Something has been sketchy about Hackett since Arrival, it could be that he is made to look sketchy to cover up another traitor. That's certainly the Reapers' style when it comes to subversion. Same could be said for Anderson really, or any other leader they have their eyes on. The real Shadow-broker is probably the key to figuring out who is being manipulated by who.

Are people really surprised by the Reaper evidence during the encounter with TIM? Even as a non-IT believer I always assumed the Reapers were intervening in that scene.
