....oh no, please don't go... We really want you around here, so far your speculations have been great...

Yeah continue with your meaningless speculation instead of actually trying to scrutinize your theory, like you should. Speculate until the end of days, it won't get you anywhere.

If IT is true, then I consider Shepard to be suffering from Indoctrination since at least the final battle in the Collector Base, possibly Arrival.  From the reactions we get from squadmates, that protoreaper was definitely giving off an ominous vibe/signal (and I believe another poster her pointed out that there's a spot with many cigarettes on the floor where the protoreaper hangs in Cerberus HQ, indicating that the Illusive Man spent a lot of time in close proximity to that monster during the last six months while trying to find a way to subvert the Reapers).

I do not personally believe that vent boy is real any of the times we see him; I believe that Shepard is already experiencing hallucinations in the opening moments of the game.  James walks in, Shepard stops looking at the imaginary garden.  Anderson walks in, Shepard stops talking to empty ventilation ducts.  Etc.  Having other people around helps Shepard to reground himself in reality, but the damage is already there and is progressing.

I thought it was already established in IT that Shepard's time around Reaper objects (begining in Mass Effect) led to the gradual Indoctrination that climaxed in Arrival.

I like your speculation on how people help ground Shepard to reality but there was some good banter previously on how Hackett's transmission leading you to Mars was a Reaper trick, quite hilarious actually when you watch the scene with that perspective, as Ashley and Vega's lines and actions could fit well with that theory. But you see, if that is true then James and Ashley's prescence do nothing, not even being aboard the old home, Normandy, help that. ^_^
(Help ground Shepard to reality that is)

I wrote a long post a while back about how maintaining connections to others helps combat indoctrination. I'll try to find it when I get back from class later this evening.

I'm running through a vanguard playthrough inbetween work this next week, should hopefully be done in time for Leviathan.

So, did I miss anything?

its impossible for the mars archive orders to be fake, shepard and hackett literally talk about afterwards. if they were, that means every hackett transmission from then on is a fake too. which means that hackett was flat out never in the game, the one that meets you before the relay jump to earth has to be an illusion for shep and the entire crew. can we drop it now? please?

Yeah, apparently Shepard is indoctrinated because he wants to kill puppys or something and can't.
Also, we just lost a newly gained yet deeply valued member. Or something

Yeah, Hackett acts like he was expecting a mission report on what Shepard found at the archives

If I recall he says something about Cerberus possibly being up to something and wonders if it was a waste of time- I think. Don't feel like checking tbh

Haha sorry I did'nt mean to bring it back up and portray it as really true, I certainly do not believe that Hackett's transmission is a faux one.

Really the arguements that Hackett/Glyph being indoctrinatd are quite silly, a synthetic and the leader of the human fleet being indoctrinated are not extremely likely, but I do like how people noticed the transmission mirror and such :wizard: good work people!

Dude, that was just cruel. Calling people idiots only makes you guys look bad. Since when do we drive out people who have different views on what it means to be indoctrinated.

I have to hand it to you Hanar, you know how to troll. The drama you bring to this thread lightens the retarded lengths of time we've had to wait.
BROFIST!

Also, I've been playing with Maschine (officially the coolest device ever made) and some of my synths - very tempted to make a moombahton-type take on some piece of Mass Effect music. Would like suggestions.
Oh, and if anyone suggests "an end once and for all" - no. That would be savagery.

If you have made mocking or inflammatory statements in the past, with no attempts at reconciliation, and continue to make remarks with contemptuous undertones, real or imagined, do not be surprised if you are not afforded the benefit of the doubt when posting here.
Open discussion in the search for better understanding is wholly expected and encouraged. However, heretic Hanar has way too long a history of trolling to get any credibility, especially coming in here with some absolute nonsense.

No, not evidence of bad writing, it's evidence of indotrination! Stop being such a literalist, you clearly don't understand symbolism. You're indoctrinated!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that he was mocking us. Just a guess.

Also, has anyone looked more into the infrasound found in the game files?

It's always nice to post something for actual discussion and have it get buried in troll doo doo. If anyone is interested in what I had to say about the Crucible trap it is at the top of page 512.

Note: The last line of my post at the top of 512 is for humor only and is not meant to troll in any way. :)

good guess.

and no, i havent seen anything new on infrasound, but i think if were going to include it as evidence, we have to make sure its everywhere its supposed to be, such as when the elcor speak. someone did post some pics during their arrival playthrough though, it showed one of the many generic signs used throughout the game, but it had some writing and numbers on it, a code t-something (i think). the real world application of that code was a warning for infrasonic sound though, i thought that was really interesting

How is my statement that Shepard is indoctrinated from the very start of ME3 any more nonsense than your version of IT?

People are more then welcome to speculate in this thread. If you don't agree, there's no reason fight with them; the simple solution is to find another discussion on this forum, of which there are many (both in number and variety). And launching an attack with vulgar language is both unproductive and a violation of the site's code of conduct.

For the rest of you... please carry on.

The Reapers were aware of past cycles attempts at making the crucible, I bet they were searching high and low for signs of it

What if the crucible is mass indoctrination weapon and firing it period is losing. That would have caused a meltdown of the fanbase of even more epic proportions

Heritc Hanar you are welcome here. I am sorry that some ITers got out of line. Glad you are starting to like IT. So please stay. I am not being rude or saying anything, but if you want to start here. Then you have to regain some of the ITers trust. I trust you, but can you trust me.

Exactly. Thank YOU!!!!

I find that there can be arguements and debates, those of which as necessary to improve theories remmeber. So instead of disregarding those who don't agree we need to encourage more discussions with these people to improve our understanding and strengthen the theory. People also need to remember definitions. Someone who doesn't agree does not = troll. People who are just plain d*cks = troll. So anyone can be a troll, it just so happens a majority of which are anti-IT. Hanar is clearly a troll what ever side he is on. (PS. He isn't IT he just believes his Shepard is indoctrinated. 2 different things...) I can accept if he was less troll like more often and apologized but so far he hasn't done so.

Remember this when ever in a debate on a forum. Logos, ethos, and pathos. Logic, character and emotion. ^_^

Jgibson....

I would direct that question at Hellishfiend (who is probably busy putting the finishing touches on Choose Wisely) or TSA. Both are really good with audio.

It's certainly an interesting avenue of speculation
