You are a "pro-IT zealot". You created this thread and you're "waiting" until IT is proven false when the ec dlc already does that. And I never said for you to stop buying Bioware products, where did I say that?

Your inadequacy to read my posts shows you can't defend yourself in a constructive argument, so telling me to leave because you're not prepared to use logic to counter my arguements makes no sense. If you're going to create a public thread, and tell people who disagree with you to leave, why bother making the thread in the first place? This is a discussion forum, expect people to disagree with the IT. Unless you know that the IT is wrong and you created this thread to shell people like yourself from the truth to the point where people would believe in any poor speculation (ex harbinger says "one of us") and use emoticons/in game quotes to give themselves some sort of morality: that they are right and everyone who doesn't believe in the IT is too blind. Yet, no one in this thread can argue as to why it's impossible for the IT to be implemented to the series at this point like I explained in my earlier post.

You're misunderstanding the most important part about it.

Paragon and Renegade have nothing to do with it.

They're unimportant.

There are three ways to interpret the colors in the ending.

A). Paragon is exemplified by Blue, and is "good" or that which is seen as "good" red is Renegade, and that which is seen as "evil" or "bad", therefore here, it's the Reaper values of Order (Control) Versus Chaos (Destruction) But the fact is, Renegade is no more evil than Paragon is good, so I throw this one out.

. It's intentionally designed to throw the players for a loop, throwing out the Paragon Renegade dichotomy and forcing the players to actually role play and make a real descision of their own, rather than allowing them to merely make a judgement based off the color of an option. 

C). In Mass Effect 1, the bad guys were blue. The Good guys were red. (Saren Vs Nihilus, Shepard Vs TIM, The Alliance Vs the Heretic Geth)

Who cares, man? What BioWare originally said was to speculate. The IT perhaps lives in the truest fan spirit of BioWare's wishes.

No, people "weren't satisfied until they got their ending", people wanted an ending that made sense and gave closure to characters as well as the player's choices like we were promised before the game was shipped. 

And Bioware said to speculate for fans because 1. crowd control (there was a post from an ex-public relations guy after the game was shipped saying how Bioware would handle the crowd he basically said that telling everyone to speculate was to keep people at bay so that the writers couldn't get any more death threats/blackmails and fix the ending in form of the Bioware president's apology letter) 2. writer integrity (no writer would come out and say "this fan theory is wrong" writers like having fans speculate on their work, and there's nothing wrong with that. But if there's a 
"truth" about the structure of a fictional work it is that that which the author intended is the actuality. ME's writers do not intend IT to be the valid end. 

And how is being an IT supporter a "true fan spirit" of Bioware when it's a fan-made ending?

To make my post a little more relevant to what you guys were discussing: I'm pretty sure AI shep is different from Shepard. Maybe not at the time when his monologue is played, but it is reasonable to assume that he could make wrong choices in the future. Choices that don't necessarily correspond to what RealShep would have done.

Now what I'm actually here for: Did anything ever come of the "does harbinger say "save us", "serve us" or just random stuff in another language" discussion?

I always thought while "serve us" obviously connects to IT i never thought "save us" actually made sense or even fit with IT.

Today i had this idea while talking to a friend. Since I'm too lazy to write it all into one proper text I'll just show you guys the chatlog.


23:06 - ETD: then there is harbinger actually saying something
23:06 - ETD: there was quite some discussion if its "serve us" or "save us" (or something random)
23:07 - ETD: serve us being IT, save us being literal, since we know its possible that reapers can go rogue (leviathan dlc leak)
23:07 - ETD: (im really looking forward to that dlc btw, more lore is always good, especially when its about reapers)
23:08 - ETD: actually, i just had a thought. "save us" could possibly still mean IT
23:08 - ETD: we know that starchild made the reapers somehow
23:08 - ETD: and if we assume that with control shepard becomes the new starchild (which to me it kinda seems like)
23:09 - ETD: then we can savely assume that the original starchild has physical control over the reapers
23:09 - ETD: possibly even about how they think
23:09 - ETD: i mean how else could shepard suddenly convert every single reaper to being a nice guy and not ****ing **** up all the time?

23:13 - ETD: i mean is it so much of a stretch that if leviathan could go rouge harbinger is TRYING to do something similar?
23:13 - ETD: (so how did Leviathan go rouge? maybe he found a way to break the starchild's control, maybe starchild just didn't incept the "murder everyone" deep enough into him. maybe he had a production error? who knows, we'll have to wait for that)
23:13 - ETD: the reason he still shoots at everything is because at that very moment starchild is physically controlling him (harbinger)
23:13 - ETD: obviously trying to stop shepard from reaching the crucible
23:13 - ETD: and therefore invalidating his "solution"
23:14 - ETD: that is why harbinger says "save us"
23:14 - ETD: that is why harbinger indoctrinated shepard
23:14 - ETD: he wants shepard to pick the only option that would grant the reapers freedom from THEIR oppression

Now we could reduce everything to bad writing. But maybe you missed the memo: that's not the point of this thread. If you just accept everything as bad writing, you're in the wrong forum entirely.

Not only the forum, every book, movie or theater club. One has to assume the writer to know what she or he is doing. And having a deadline while incorparating odd hints throughout your work doesn't necessarily imply rushed writing, either.

I know.  It was a moment of weakness.  I've been holding back for so long with so many of these guys that it just needs to be let out sometimes.  I'll try going back to my usual Deadpan Snarker self.

I agree.  I mean, I love the idea that Harby is saying something to Shepard, but based on what Chris said, I'm thinking that it's just usual Reaper sounds.
