Synthesis is literally the worst idea ever imagined. Ever.

Didn't the Prothean VI say that it was supposed to "interface with the Catalyst," Yet when you find it again at Chronos Station it doesn't bring it up again. and of course, the thing that REALLY bugs me, is that Shepard LEAVES IT BEHIND!

I mean really? you're gonna leave the Prothean VI, that is supposed to interface with the Catalyst and contains who knows how much Prothean data in it, and just leave it there to get blown to dust? You don't wanna even take it back to be analyzed to see if there is more information, or if it was somehow tampered with by Cerberus?

idk that just felt like a slopy thing to do, from a storytelling standpoint and a saving-the-galaxy standpoint as well

For me that's right when the game started going to hell.

Anyone else call their local pet store to check on the availability of huskheads? I kept getting hung up on

They'll never sell huskheads at pet stores. No one would ever buy any other pets.

I picked one up finally. Never looked back!

What? Are you talking about that thing on Bryson's desk that growls when activated?

It doesn't need feeding.

Maybe not, but it needs love.

Then choose Synthesis.

And turn it into a sentient head, with no body, forever doomed to be unable to move on its own?

No thank you.

I'm sure it could be given a new body afterwards. Posted Image

But I dont support the Leviathans.

I think they are evil, arrogant, cowards who doomed the galaxy many times over.

If I could, I'd have killed them.

I disagree. Synthesis is a middle ground for Organics and Synthetics.

No.

Before Synthesis there were organics and synthetics.

After Synthesis there are synthetics and half synthetics. No organics.

Thats not a middle ground.

It's the Intelligence who's to blame. Leviathans wanted to save the species from certain death.

I kinda felt the same as being stuck working with TIM in ME2. I would be a little happier if I could take steps prepare for their sudden, yet inevitable, betrayal.

Did you even pay attention? The Leviathans only care about other species because if the other species die, they can no longer pay tribute to them.

They are motivated purely by selfishness to keep the other species alive.

Why make the Intelligence's purpose: preservation of life at any cost? Why not: Preservation of life at the cost of harvesting all organic life in the galaxy

Because he likes the literal endings well enough, he just supports IT.

If IT is false he likes control.

That doesnt mean he cant be in here.

Also control appeals to his god complex. ;)

Hmm. Good point. But the thralls were cavemen and needed protection, needed to be cared for. They also had a lot of freedom if they were able to build lethal machines.

Few points here that I think need to be linked together. The Crucible is described as a weapon, yes, and all of these bits of EMS items point to that. What I think needs to be brought up is that the Citadel is the -targeting and delivery mechanism- to the Crucible's energy. Just releasing the energy from the Crucible would take billions of years for the blast to reach across the galaxy, and take far, far more power than 'oceans of Helium-3' to generate. The Citadel is the control mechanism for the entire relay network and by using it as it's delivery system it has the capability to reach every corner of the galaxy nearly simultaeneously.

I believe in the conversation with the Prothean VI it says that 'It was realized at some point that a catalyst was needed for it to function', and if so, that just points to the delivery mechanism.

That said, it doesn't answer the questions of 'who designed it originally', is really a trap, and why does it have any option other than 'destroy' if it's design was a last ditch effort at survival. It wouldn't make sense to design extra bits into it other than KILL THEM ALL NOW so we can live. Well, IMO anyway.

I personally am torn between Reaper trap and Leviathan effort to retake control of the galaxy. The design is said to be powerful and elegant yet simplistic and easily understood. It takes significant understanding of your enemy, dark energy, and the relay network to come up with a weapon that would affect the entire galaxy on the scale required.

Freedoms which the Leviathans created the intelligence to take away.

Not wanting to spam, but this thread moves so fast sometimes that things get buried.

The Leviathans are evil. "Dead thralls pay no tribute." <-- How can you not think that they're arrogant, controlling bastards that don't care for you? Seriously.

where exactly did this idea originate from? Who was the first person to say "hmmm, maybe this is all a dream."?

Don't the first person to make a video mind you.. But the first person to get the ball rolling.

Because the solution (harvesting) was the Intelligence's idea! Not the Leviathans'.

The entire game spends time telling you the Reapers can't be controlled and any time someone believes they can control the Reapers they have been indoctrinated. A holographic image of a child you saw die and have been having dreams of with reaper horns in the background tells you that he controls the reapers and that you can too. Believing that is naive.
Also, I'm not saying he doesn't belong here, I just get tired of the nonsense he talks about and it's very rare that he comes up with any valuable speculations, if he ever has.
