No, the ending was not and is not a hallucination. I played the game from beginning to end, and the ending sucked.

I went to bed, woke up, played through the ending again and, sure enough, the ending still sucks.

Why? Nobody else answer, but him.

...because you touch yourself at night.

Is that all you got because that's not the answer I wanted from you.

I'm sorry. Was my answer to your question unfulfilling?

Well, that's too bad, because I stand by my answer on the grounds of artistic integrity.

So you are a person who can be paid to charge a hill, to shot a gun, but you can't be paid to believe.

Well...okay...

AHHHHH! It's the Starbrat!!

All things considered, Sam Hulick composed some truly beautiful music in the Extended Cut, to include that very track.

This is why I like Hackett. Also um I like that Hackett told Shepard ..." and I know you will get us to the other side." I wonder what ending is the other side, and also Hackett smiles when he tells Shepard that his mother was promoted to rear admiral.

Someone missed the point entirely.  Or is trolling on purpose.

The question isn't 'is the ending of the game a hallucination', its 'is Shepard suffering hallucinations during the ending?'

And since you didn't address that point, it shows you either don't know the topic or you don't care.

I love turian platoon mission - the renegade responce - "Get over it" - Shepard gives one of best, shortest and to the point speaches of all time.

Edit: sorry - i meant - kick their asses! response.

For some reason - all the videos i can find for this mission has people picking the paragon option. which here just sucks compared to the renegade one.

Hackett, and his speeches are just amazing. Let me explain.
www.youtube.com/watch

" The Reapers will show us no mercy. We must give them no quarter. They will terrorize our populations. we must stand fast in the face of that terror. They will advance until our last city falls, but we will fail. We will prevail. Each of us will be defined by our actions in the coming battle. Stand fast. Stand strong. Stand together. Hackett out."

One Hackett tells everyone, including Shepard/us that we can show them no mercy, and kill them all.

Two Hackett is remind Shepard, and the player, that the Reapers will harvest/kill every advanced race, and will not stop until the last city fails.

Three foreshadowing at the end, when Hackett says " Each of us will be defined by our actions in the coming battle.' The end is our actions/ Shepard's, and the endings we pick is defining us, and the Reapers.

Here is the video.

Major Kirrahe, at the end in the FOB in London is just sad, and funny at the same time. God I wish Mordin was there listening to Kirrahe's speech like we liked to hear in ME2. Also it's a good reminder of what we are fighting for, hence why Destroy is the way to go.

Have you guys heard the renegade version of shepard's speach in the turian platoon mission? all the videos have the paragon version. This is very important and relevant ot ending being a dream. Please respond.

Well, after some thought I realized that there is one possible bright spot in the darkness that is Fridge Logic about the leviathans: They are either extremely lazy or have long periods of hibernation like the Thorian. (Given who and what they are, I'd say it's the latter, but still.)

They made an intelligence to solve the problem of their thrall races making AIs and destroying themselves, and the intelligence ended up killing all the Leviathans... And there are so many things in that sentence that don't make sense it's not even funny.

For one, why did it have to be an AI? Couldn't a VI still do all the calculations just as well and then tell the Leviathans about its predictions and what it thought would be the best solution. The Leviathans could go over the plan or make one themselves with the data collected and make sure that it didn't interfere with any of their personal plans. Why did their data collector, calculator, and possible problem solver have to have self-awareness? This seems to indicate the Leviathans were very often out of the picture for whatever reason.

Second, why did they need anything special to stop their servant races from making AIs at all? It would be much easier for them to just fly to homes of younger races and announce that whoever makes AIs will get a personal visit and/or will get their mind crushed. Either do it as the younger races were conquered or show up randomly every couple of hundred years and demonstrate their power. Or just keep a close eye on the younger races and completely obliterate areas that get even slightly disobedient or start building AIs. Hey, even if synthetics weren't a problem, this would still be a good idea. Overall, this seems to indicate that the Leviathans didn't pay close attention to the younger races and weren't in the picture very often.

Third... AI shackles. Seriously. Those two words could have apparently saved the entire galactic empire of the Leviathans. If synthetics are such a big threat to your thrall races, why did it never occur to you to somehow limit the power of this AI? While there is no doubt the Leviathans were/are incredibly arrogant, you'd think that with such long lifespans they'd realize that if something can happen, it probably will. And even if they completely believed that such a thing would never happen to them because they're too powerful/advanced/whatever, would they really bet everything on that? I honestly can't think of an excuse for this one besides stupidity. :?

The first two can be explained by hibernation for long periods of time, but not the third. So, either the Leviathans are extremely stupid or they're lying through their teeth and are about as trustworthy as Starbrat.

Come on guys, I lose an hour of sleep for this on a school night yesterday and nobody even responds? :P What do you guys think?

I'm curious as to what Leviathan has from
an IT stand point, from what I can tell a description of the creation of
the star brat doesn't exactly do wonders for IT sadly, but I am very
much lacking in knowledge on the subject. So can anyone give me a run
down, or far less intrusively, point me to one?

(reposting what I wrote earlier)

I haven't had the time to catch up with the thread, and I have no idea what the general consensus on Leviathan is (if any), but here are my thoughts:

Leviathan helps IT a LOT.

- It helps establish that Indoctrination/mind control techniques are very much capable of visually changing what the victim perceives.

- Leviathan says "Your memories give voice to our words", while showing Shepard familiar people who speak these words. This helps IT because it establishes that Reapers can use the victim's memories to shape what he perceives. (Hence the boy as the catalyst, the parts of the Citadel looking like places Shepard has been to)

Leviathan says: "Your nature will be revealed to us, accept this." This helps IT because it establishes that Reapers can indeed poke around in the victim's mind and know his/her intentions. ("I know you've thought about destroying us.")

My favourite line: "Your own species could be destroyed by a single thought."

Agreed. On a side note, Lance Henriksen rarely disappoints. Takes me back to his days in Millennium.

Not that you're advocating that, but why would a space fairing super race need to hibernate all at the same time?

I'm not sure, and you're right, it doesn't make sense. I'd say that this just destroys the Leviathan's credibility even more.

Okay I was playing my Krogan home world mission again, and Eve's speech was just epic, and this is another reason why i think Destroy is the best with or with out IT, and the others ( well maybe not refuse) are plan wrong.

Eve " You can stay here and let old wounds fester as Krogan have always done.... or you can fight the enemy you were born to Destroy...... and win a new future for our children. I choose to fight. Who will join me?"

Shepard: " I will."

Wrex : "And so will I. Now hold your heads high like true Krogan! There is a Reaper that needs killing!"

Hell in Destroy we fight for a future for the children of the future, and maybe in refuse to, but in Destroy Shepard/ us choose to fight. Refuse is like a give up and hope for the best. Also hell Shepard agrees that " I WILL FIGHT!"

Also in the video, Eve tells Shepard/ the player that Eve: " We had dreams...a future to look forward to." Mordin talks, then Eve: " No we destroyed Tuchanka ourselves. Technology changed us. It made life to easy."

Dam everyone had dreams, including Shepard/ the player, that in Me3 after the war was over. We would have our Shepard/ the future of ME to look forward to. Also I like that Eve said " .... Technology changed us, It made life to easy.

Synthesis life is very easy.

Control life is easy.

Destroy life is hard.

Refuse life is very hard, but not sure on this ending.

Here is the video

Also what Eve says about staying here, is like refuese, so ya Destroy for the win.

www.youtube.com/watch

Garrus:"And Shepard. Forgive the insabordination, but this old friend has an order for you. Go out there and go give  them hell. You were born to do this."

Eve "Or you can fight the enemy you were born to Destroy."

Yet ANOTHER instance in which the game subtlely (or not so subtlely) hints that you might want to DESTROY the Reapers.

People might act like little things like word choice don't mean anything, but as someone that has spent a great deal of time around writers and doing my own creative writing, I can tell you that writers tend to be very specific with their word choices. A love of language and its subtleties is why many of us start writing in the first place. We tend to dislike reusing words too often unless we can't help it. I'm literally feeling guilty at how many times I used a form of the word "write" in this past paragraph.

Thank you, and this makes Refuse the same instance as Eve: " You can stay here, and let old wounds fester...or you can fight......"

Destroy we fight.

Refuse we stay and let everything come to an end.
