Shepard in particular does not, but the codex has lines referring to the Leviathans in plural such as this one "These attacks aim to make Reaper creatures thralls of the Leviathans"

Personally I think this does great things for the overlay theory. I'm still very much struggling to give a ****, but personally I think that fact alone could have implications later.

Vega's appearance was mysterious but the way he talked with Ann seemed to point to a crush between them. The fishy part comes from the fact that the first time you get to the lab with Ann and talk with her she stays by a console in the other room. Vega's appearnace during a cinematic is then sudden and unexpected. But when you Quick Load the game and talk to Ann again, she walks you to the room in which James is playing with the huskhead so you know he's there before the cinematic kicks in.Gwyphon wrote...

In regards to 2, I don't think there were many people who were NOT startled by his sudden appearence, and surely Bioware banked on this.
3. To my dismay (I like the classic dream IT theory) it does seem lend alot of credit to the overlay theory.
