Hi Guys. I've been thinking over possible theories about what's going on and I wondered what you guys thought of my half baked attempts to make sense of all this

Looking ahead to future DLC - assuming that the catalyst is lying about who and what he is, do you guys think it's possible that the true "intelligence" that Leviathan spoke of is hiding on Omega? I'm thinking that maybe Omega is a Citadel mark 1, as it seems to look older and more primitive than the citadel. Perhaps Harbinger and the other reapers rebelled against the intelligence just as it rebelled against the Leviathans, and started reaping purely to benefit themselves - i.e. for simple reproduction?

Or maybe the intelligence is Avina? Leviathan did say that the intelligence was still performing its function. Perhaps it thought better of the reaper solution and started trying to encourage diplomacy in the galaxy after the reapers turned on it?

Or, maybe "Starbinger" is actually "Steviathan"? The Leviathans released the plans for the crucible, but because they couldn't be sure of the technological level of whatever civilisation actually got to build it - they gave it three possible levels of functionality.

At the most basic, easy to build level it kills off the Reapers allowing the Leviathans to come out of hiding. This explains why the "Catalyst" offers the destroy option without too much resistance. It's not the ideal solution for the Leviathans as they lose the chance to dominate the reapers, but it's by no means a disaster for them.

At a more advanced level it allows them to control a ready made reaper army through one of their thralls (Shepard).

At the highest level (synthesis) it implants mind controlling tech in all organics, enable the Leviathans to enthrall the entire galaxy in one fell swoop.

Well anyway, I just wanted to say I'm still enjoying everyone's speculations on this thread. I really hope the IT is Bioware's plan, and if not, you guys have put together a much more compelling ending. Bravo.

Some neat ideas mentioned here.  I can comment on one of them: about Starbinger being Steviathan.

I do not think it is likely.  The Leviathans mind control ability only works if an individual is either in close proximity to them or to their artifacts.  I haven't seen anything during the Citadel run or in London that resembles a Leviathan artifact. So I am pretty sure that the Star Kid is a Reaper persona.

Your Omega ideas are very plausible.  We'll just have to wait for any Omega DLC to find Posted Image

Regarding Omega there are a few quotes from the Mad Prophet that seem appropriate.

“The Protheans cast off the lesser races: the krogan, the vorcha, and the humans. "And so they dwelled in filth, on worlds made of dirt and feces, and there they lay until they stumbled into the skies." The lesser races will be our downfall! The Word is clear.”“

"And on this great station, the pure shall be rejected, and the lesser races given their places in heaven. And this shall be the beginning of the end." The end times are upon us! Repent and restore your souls to glory!”

This sounds a bit like Leviathan spoke during the DLC.
It sure means nothing but I always wanted to post that feces quote it cracks me up evey time :P

That's interesting. Do we know how many destroyers the Reapers make each cycle? I know they're only supposed to make one Sovereign class ship.

Thanks. I'm still holding out hope that each new piece of DLC will let us get closer and closer to being able to stick 2 fingers up to the Catalyst and get a conventional victory. Maybe Omega will start us down that road?

Ugh, I watched the destro ending. And came back here coz I dont urdestand the debate you are having here.
Why do you calculate the explosion force? After the destroy choice citadels center remains intact it seems. Some of its wings are damaged, but the center holds/supports the construction. So... what are we talking about here? What explosion?

Relays. Broken in half (as seen when the fleet is moving beside it)... so not only rings are damaged and fell off but the whole construction is in shambles. How do you rebuild that?

I think the rubble and breathe scene is on the Citadel. Only interiors could be 'resonable damaged' for Shep to survive. As for all the nice screenines presented erlier... those are reused assets... through out the whole game. Recycling... like DA2... like any other game out there. YTou build levels like lego, using parts and designing new when unique location is ment to look different than others...

3-Interesting thought - All of the Leviathan's thralls were doing something whilst being controlled, that is, their minds were somewhere else in an alternate reality but they were still moving around and doing things under control of the Leviathans. Personally I think this does great things for the overlay theory. I'm still very much struggling to give a ****, but personally I think that fact alone could have implications later.

Or WNT?!?!? :o

PS. Just catching up and responding to some things I find interesting. Be back later.

Ok, fine. Suppose the breathe scene does take place on the citadel, you'd still have to explain suriving the equivalent of just under 5million Hiroshima bombs, or why the mass effect fields that are supposedly able to protect Shepard aren't destroyed instantly from such a massive explosion.

Either way logic is not on the side of those who believe the breathe scene is on the citadel

I am not sure what I believe anymore, but no one who is against the IT has explained to my satisfaction a few thing:
1)Why would the Catalyst would use the word, "Fire" to describe the conflict with the reapers. There are bunch of metaphors he could have used, but he picked fire. The boy is always being consumed by fire, and the final dream, you are both consumed by fire.
2)In Leviathan, Shepard doesn't realize he is not underwater until Leviathan tells him or her to breathe, or that he or she is being controlled. He or she doesn't free themselves from control.. Leviathan lets them go. The equipment to understand Shepard's mind is similiar to equipment Shepard understands just like in the final. The ability to control, destroy, and even synthesize are basically accomplished by performing mundane tasks. All a person had to do destroy the most powerful force in the entire galaxy's history was to shoot a power transformer?
3)After being told countless times in the game how Shepard is good for morale. He gets the report that Shepard has made it to the Citadel, and Admiral Hackett doesn't even say Shepard's name. He doesn't mention that two people have made it to the Citadel either.
Just my two cents

Well, today is a great day for gamers everywhere! The Black Mesa mod of Half-Life 2 officially has a release date. Anyway, I alao have something I'm going to share that should spark a bit of speculation. Give me a few minutes and I'll post the link.

Mind if I ask what's the release date? Posted Image

Sorry this took so long, but the first release date is September 14th, and we'll be able to play from the beginning of Half-Life to the Lambda Core section.  The rest will be released later, I'm guessing.

IDK how many, maybe as much as they loose?

\\Wild speculation
And why does it lie about preserving organic life, the supposed "lesser" races are made into cannon fodder with destroyers and such while the chosen species is made into a Sovereign class one. Something is not right here. The Leviathan is lying they wanted an army of indestructible paws and it backfired on them, the AI wanted to achieve true understanding of life and it started the biggest experiment ever made. /speculation

Wouldn't it be funny if the DLC nobody wanted when the sh*tstorm hit because it was irrelevant turned out to be the key?

OK, I'm going to post a little hypothesis that I came up with last night in the shower.  http://social.biowar...0/blog/220828/  It's basically an explanation for how the Leviathans might think that synthetics and organics will always be in conflict without this actually being true.  I hope that it's actually a resonable hypothesis.

I played Half-Life: Source but it was a long shot from Half-Life 2's quality. Maybe Black Mesa will fill the gap between them.

You're in denial. It's cute at first, but then it gets annoying. It's no longer cute.
The screenies are from the breath scene and priority: earth. the concrete matches. that's not even touching the survival of the second explosion right before the crucible fires the laser. Logic and physics are not on your side. Give it up and admit you don't know what you're talking about.
