OK, I'm going to post a little hypothesis that I came up with last night in the shower.  http://social.biowar...0/blog/220828/  It's basically an explanation for how the Leviathans might think that synthetics and organics will always be in conflict without this actually being true.  I hope that it's actually a resonable hypothesis.

Uh, any thoughts on this?

I still don't agree with their logic, but that's a really good write-up.

Thanks!  And I don't agree with the Leviathans'/Reapers' logic either.  My hope was to show WHY the Reapers and Leviathans would think that synthetics and organics would always come into conflict.  Doesn't mean they're right, but I think that it's important to understand their reasoning.

I'd prefer to believe it's not bad writing, as the evidence suggests. If you want to be a pessimist, by all means do so. I just hope we'll all get answers...

That's lazy thinking but expected from most players, I guess.

IIRC, someone calculated the power an explosion would have to be to get that size. Around 100kt. For reference sake, the Hiroshima fission bomb was around 15kt. But yeah, Shepard's totally on the Citadel. That's not incredibly retarded or anything.

Epic win!

Ugh, I watched the destro ending. And came back here coz I dont urdestand the debate you are having here.
Why do you calculate the explosion force? After the destroy choice citadels center remains intact it seems. Some of its wings are damaged, but the center holds/supports the construction. So... what are we talking about here? What explosion?

Relays. Broken in half (as seen when the fleet is moving beside it)... so not only rings are damaged and fell off but the whole construction is in shambles. How do you rebuild that?

I think the rubble and breathe scene is on the Citadel. Only interiors could be 'resonable damaged' for Shep to survive. As for all the nice screenines presented erlier... those are reused assets... through out the whole game. Recycling... like DA2... like any other game out there. YTou build levels like lego, using parts and designing new when unique location is ment to look different than others...

You're in denial. It's cute at first, but then it gets annoying. It's no longer cute.
The screenies are from the breath scene and priority: earth. the concrete matches. that's not even touching the survival of the second explosion right before the crucible fires the laser. Logic and physics are not on your side. Give it up and admit you don't know what you're talking about.

Well, the place where Shep was looks mighty fine to me after teh xplosion. I rather call it space magic and bad writing...
Concrete also mathes the one in the chamber with Casper Unfriendly ghost, why wont you link that video too, huh? The one with free roam camera where some dude makes comparisons of all elements in the rubble and the textures used in the final chamber, that it matches...

But like I said, space magic, or Shep was ported by somebody/something the last second to earth (some frindly keeper maybe?)

So maybe you should get a little closer to earth, hmm?

I'm not in denial, vice versa rather.
You see it all break down to lots of speculations for everyone. If you dont see that and cant admit there is something to it that is your problem and your right to see it that way. But does it give you the right to call me anything, more so cute... :P

BTW do you see what really is causing damage to the Citadel? Its the debris that is pulled by glowing space magic. Citadel DOES NOT XPLODE due to the beam, that fireball happens in spce where the device is ( I forgot what it is called). If the explosion was the force of [huge number] of hiroshima a-bomb there wouldnt be any Citadel center left. End of story.
And what is the first explosion u are talkng about? The one by the pipes?  When Shep shoots? So what? this is sci-fi, you dont have a problem with Vakarian taking a missile to the face? Or any other heroic fall, biotic throw, fire,
space magic stunt through out ME2-3?
Le sigh.

I'm not trying to excuse their existence.  I'm just providing an explanation for how the Leviathans and the Reapers might have come to their (wrong) conclusions about organic and synthetic life.

Very nice write up.  Thinking of things in this way would allow the Intelligence to justify its actions.  It also further raises questions as to if Synthesis is actually more than how its presented in a literal interpretaion

I know. We should also stop talking about the breath scene being on the citadel or earth seriously. These idiots just will get it. Maybe physics should be a required course in school?

Hmm, dont know the last guy on the left team, but Alcatraz would be floored in seconds in this match up. He has no shielding what so ever and that suit of his is not gonna stand up long to the Spartans weaponry. Similarly his enhanced strength is nothing comapred to Spartans. Best bet for him would be cloaking and waiting for a clear shot, though i doubt his weaponry would be all that effective, to great leap of technology.

Which is actually the main thing in with Shepard compared to Spartans. My gut feeling says Mass Effect fields and Mass effect weaponry beats the UNSC Spartan weaponry (minus the Spartan Laser), I simply think the mass effect weaponry accelerates to greater velocities and by extension protects better, but throw in covenant weaponry and Shepard is ****ed.

Still though we also have things like Biotics and Tech powers which might give Shepard an edge, but he would be floored in hand to hand combat and I doubt he can take the entire Noble team + Master Chief even if he has a technological advantage.

Just beeing nerdy :P

Well, now we've established you're either stupid, delusional, or trolling.

Nothing gets past that second explosion even after surviving the one from shooting the gun. The first explosion is enough, with searing the lungs and third degree burns over 2/3rds of the body. The second explosion would make any organic, cyber-enhanced or not, disintegrate. It's just bulls**t to claim otherwise.

Vakerian taking a missle to the face is something totally different. Turians have natural armor and he was probably wearing protective armor and shields that took most of the force. Also, the flycam floor doesn't match the concrete. Why would Reapers use concrete in a place no Organic is expected to go anyway? Any way you look at it, it's illogical. You would do well to rethink all of this instead of ignoring physics in a game where they spend time paying attention to phyics. The Mass Effect itself depends on knowledge of advanced physics.

Well, to be fair, UNSC weaponry is almost exclusively based on existing tech, and almost all of the guns used could easily be manufactured today. Most of the bullets are real too. Just equip Alcatraz with a gauss rifle and X-43 Microwave Incendiary Klystron Emitter and he has a better chance.

It was never required at my school either...it was listed as an "optional science."

Speaking as someone who majored in physics at college and as rational human being, I cannot even conceive of why basic physics isn't considered essential knowledge in my old neighborhood. There are some things that people just need to know

Well I have played Crysis 2 and even with Armor mode on that suit dosent take to much punsihment, but off course it depends on where they fight.

And yeah a Gauss rifle or that Microwave thing might work better.

But maybe we should get back on topic.

Actually, Alcatraz might hold up better than you think.  Spartan weaponry is pretty much just a more technologically advanced version of modern weaponry.  It still fires gunpower accelerated bullets.  And Alcatraz's armor mode is definitely able to absorb gunpowder accelerated bullets (And some energy based rounds based on what the Ceph use, too.).  Plus, since Spartan weaponry is pretty much fundamentally the same as modern weaponry (Besides the Spartan Laser, obviously.), I get the feeling that Alcatraz vs. a Spartan might go a little better than you think, especially if that Spartan is a Spartan III (You know, since the IIIs, while more capable than the average soldier, aren't quite as augmented as the IIs.).  That's just my two cents, anyway.

Yeah, might make them realize a few things...in fact I only really appreciate Mass effect because it uses physics I can comprehend and not just Space Magic.
