The AI isn't Shepard. Says so itself. I don't trust a reaper. Especially in a literal ending...

That depends on how you look at it. I see it as AI Shepard. S/he still have the old Shepard's memories, prerfrences, idealism... Honetly I would trust an AI to lead the Reapers much more than a mere human. After all, an AI can't be power hungry. :P

No, sorry it isn'st Shepard. Period. In the ME universe, you can't take an AI and move it to another quantum bluebox, and have it be the same AI.

I dont know if either of you know the Halo lore well enough to get this reference, but saying the Catalyst!Shep is the same as Shep is like saying Cortana is the same as Dr Halsey.

Exactly.

Banshee, I made that reference specifically for you, and then you left the thread for a few hours!

Well at least I responded to it now.Posted Image And for future reference, I do know quite a bit about the Halo universe. That's where I got my name Posted Image

Two things I'd like to note:
1) I've been putting some thought into why the Reapers are sending human bodies to the Citadel and came across the startling realization that the Citadel can process organic material: it's mentioned in ME 2 that the Citadel has protein vats.  With this in mind...could the Citadel have more Reaper properties than we realize?

2) I just read Simon_Says' Selfish Meme theory (
http://social.biowar...ndex/13004977/1 ), which is a fantastic read, and a thought occured to me: what if the Star Child is not an organic or synthetic AI but rather a construct built from "the Cosmic Imperative?" This assumes that the Imperative is a physically real phenomenon but it would add a new layer of intrigue to what Star Child's true nature might be.  If it is as Simon_Says, then perhaps the Star Child AI derives its purpose from its programming but its personality is disseminated from the identity of the person being influenced by it.  Any thoughts on this one ( I admit that an AI constructed from some unknown energy is a rather foreign concept)?

So we have 2 catchphrases:
Anderson was born in London.
I am the Catalyst.

Who gives more?

Huh. Was there something about an IT council?[/quote]Yes. Apparently, Masster Blaster (the same guy who thinks you're Chris Priestly) thought that there was an IT council, I asked who those might be, he answered, I disagreed, and it pretty much escalated from that point.

This is better than an episode of battle space :D

I am currently browsing two threads.

This one, and Katawa Shoujo General on 4chan, because I'm bored as hell.

Its hard to tell which thread is currently more off-topic from the game they're supposed to be talking about, which is saying something, since KSG hasnt been on topic in months.

We should at least try to get on topic at some point.

In an effort to bring this back to speculations: Can someone explain why so many people still think the epilogues (not necessarily the space scenes/Normandy scenes) are part of the indoctrination attempt and not actual depictions of the galaxy's future?

It's my belief coming as an overlay-time theorist that the epilogue scenes ARE REAL but everything Shepard faces post "serve us" is fake.

Remember how we talked about religious imagery in the ending and allegory? The writers are explaning how religions and cults are formed.

1. You have past events that are real and are more or less based somewhat on historical events (ME1-near end of ME3)
2. You usually have a mesiah figure who during a short period of time accomplishes miracles and fantastically stories that are scientifically impossible and with logic that sometimes does not make sense (ending of ME3)
3. You have "modern period" epilogue scenes.

Stargazer doesn't know the full details of what happens at the end of ME3 and Shepard in the same way that we in the modern world don't know the full story of Jesus or Mohammed (insert the name of your messiah figure here) and because of that- why people depend on allegory and religious texts. Jesus and Mohammed may have been real people but since "details are lost in time" they've become Legends.

Get it?;)

That said, the details lost in time does not mean that those details will not be filled...

Weapons are not toys. They're killing machines, and should only be handled by soldiers!

There is no better a symbol of self-sufficiency and responsibility than a well trained, diciplined and armed civilian. If the sheep do not have sheep dogs with teeth, then the wolves will come and they will feast well.

Your conventional armies will shatter before the Reapers, but the resistance will remain! :bandit:

I cant believe he actually asked Chris...

First off: Masster, you cant be that stupid

Second off: If Chris is Banshee, do you really think he's going to tell you?

But this "militia" should be regulated by a professional soldier, not by himself. And what you're saying is that in order to feel safe, you need a gun? I'd really not like to live in that place. I think I'll just stay here in the cold north, thank you.
