Another revision!! God I am behind the times

Well there's new stuff and old stuff occasionally gets debunked, but I hate the idea that there's only one theory to be revised. Everyone has their own personal interpretation of events and I dislike when it's implied we all think the same way.

This is not an attack on you by the way, just a general comment.

Yeah, we don't think the same way but there are things we agree on.

What is the 'current' IT? IT Waking nightmare? Con? or is it still that the entire ending is happening in sheps head - Dream?

My apologies for ignorance. I only pop in once in a while

Well, The theory is much the same, but after the EC we just think that it is no longer possible to determine with certainty where the dream actually starts ,and that it may not be the moment you a heat with harbingers beam, but earlier, most likely when the trasport suddenly crashes. (inly because normandy pick up scene is SO implausible.)

Oh, and also the slides, and normandy stranded is still a dream.

That's about it.

For the most recent discussion read the conversation on pages 740 -744 - it is very interesting.

This has nothing to do with anything, but boy I wish all DLCs were as substantial as Dawnguard.

The 360 version yeah. I suppose they noticed so many mods were for new abodes they wipped together an official house builder. Obviously it's not as big as dawnguard, which is why it came out so fast I assume.

The pickup is not the most implausible man! There is SO much else in that game that is implausible:
- Shep surviving the explosion
- breathing in space
- Pickup scene
- Good Guy Harbinger
- Shep surviving harbinger blast
- Anderson getting ahead of shep
- TIM on the citadel
- Everything Starkid is and him being the citadel

There may be more, but I can't remember.

I am a face-value fan. I do not like the ending - well, I think that it stumbles and is anti-climactic with a reasonable amount of plot holes.

However, assuming that the ending is a dream (it doesn't happen in real life) that means we got a game with no ending - the final game in the trilogy does not have an ending. It just does not seem plausible for that to be true. Now with bioware saying that there will be no more post ending (post decision) DLC kinda drives it home for me.

You have to think, is the ending SO terribad that you would rather believe it was all a dream (this giving you a game with no resolution to the story) rather than accept the ending face value?

Maybe. But very improbable - you meet too much new people and visit too much new places in ME3. Still, possible.
As it is possible that al it is - is just the big dream shepards mind has in a split second before dieing in the prologe of ME2.

Just as possible  for ME2 and ME3 being a purgatory like expierience, after shepard dies in the ME2 prologe.
Just as possible for ME1, ME2 and ME3 be all figments of shepard's delusional imagination after the mental truma he got after Torfan/Acuse/whatever the third origin story was, while being in orbital mental institution, above Earth, as shown in a prologue to ME1.

Just take your pick. Whatever rocks your boat.

IT is really in a superposition of being TRUE and FALSE at the same time. :D

Here we go again. And each time it's presented as if we never thought of it or it hasn't been brought up multiple times by many others.

God bless you for being able to believe it as being real. My brain unfortunately doesn't allow that. So I must rather accept that it's a Soprano-type ending.

Yeah I know, it is beaten to death and I know it has been brought up before.

But seriously! Was the ending that bad you would rather believe it never happened/was a dream rather than see it at face value?

Yeah, the ending was pretty bad - anticlimactic and full of plotholes - but that is the way they wanted to end Mass Effect unfortunatly.:(

I can add to this list

Shepard goes along with the plan to control the reapers despite having no reason to believe he can other than an AI representing the reapers telling him he can.

Shepard is magically bleeding from where he shot anderson

TIM can suddenly use the reaper influence over him to control the bodies of others.

you bring up that and " ohmergherd! no ending!". Those both get brought up. There is nothing substantial behind them that kills the whole theory and everytime I read it, it's just extraneous and says nothing substantial, no offense.

Yes. Absolutely.

True, the ending being a dream, - gives us a cliffhanger as an ending (shepard is alive!)

But the over all STORY is so much better this way.

A cliffhanger - is a valid type of a finale to the story. It's called an Open Finale.
The movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - has exectly this type of an ending. Yet no one complains and asks for some post-ending DLC or a saquel that explains what actully happened there.

Inception - is another example of this.

Blade Runner - is the master example on this. (and i'm not talking about whether or not decard himself is a replicant or not.) The director's cut literally ends on them entering an elevator to go on the run.

Yes. I like detailed RPGs for the story and a mind bending cliffhanger is much better than plotholes and retcons up the yinyang. I don't approve of Bioware's decision, but I still find this interpretation infinitely more satisfying.

Anyway, if it is the way you like more to see it as - that's the way you like to see it as, and you have every right for your opinion.

Another thing i would like to point out.

With the IT, the owerall story at the current state of things is so much better than even if they had implemented the IT and had post breath scene gameplay right in the original game.

And you may disagree at first, but think about it really hard, search your feeling and you'd know it to be true.

If we followed the ending and listed everything that is taken directly from Shepard's memory, I bet we'd find that well over 90% of what we saw was taken from memory.

Hey guys! Something new over the last 24 hours, or is it still troll-time?

@demersel That convo 20 pages ago was really interesting, even if I didn't understand it completely.
You should do a more detalied post about it. If you want/have time. :)
