Bill, you don't strike me as the sort to be waiting for Godot to come.

I wasn't sad to begin with, I was just losing hope. Having three diffrence sources from Bioware say the same thing without a hint of a double meaning that there will not be any post-breath dlc is a little discuraging. I normally ignore comments like that from Bioware, but it's hard to ignore everything they say.

They also said there is "layers and layers of cool symbolism" and "Lots of metaphors." as well as "aspects of the game with non-literal meanings."

Those are enough for me.

Same here.  I have a pretty good idea of what happens to my Shepard and how things went down after his mental battle with the Catalyst.  I am satisfied.

I even have a literlist choice ready to go should a ME 4 or post game content choose to endorse such a viewpoint.

IT has enough going for it for the theory to be valid.  Even if no grand reveal is ever handed to us, IT survives it still makes for a fantastic ending

I didn't spend this much time and money to head canon the single most important part of the game.

Anyways, I dont wish to burden tou guys with my negativity so I'm going to leave

*hug* No.

The end of Leviathan has the Leviathan seizing the mind of Shepard...
They can create full three dimensional imagery, as well as the forms of people Shepard knows...
The scene opens with Shepard on his hands and knees being approached by this apparition...

In order of reference;

Waiting For Godot ("We are waiting for Godot to come.")

(No idea)

The Thing (the original one, that didn't suck.)

Bladerunner

Solaris

Getting shotgunned by college, probably going to head off to take care of some other personal projects, now that I've done my moralizing and making people feel better, ect.

Me: "IT states that Shepard has been exposed to the indoctrination process, being attacked with indoctrination attempts on his mind, NOT that he is already indoctrinated. He only becomes indoctrinated if he chooses Control/Synthesis. It's unbelievable how many Non-ITers make this mistake."

smudboy: "Speculation, followed by nonsense. It is more unbelievable how gullible, or to guess what fantasy world you live in."

Me: "Part 2 And Vendetta can only detect those who have already been indoctrinated, not those who have been exposed to the indoctrination process. This is why Vendetta and the other Prothean VIs did not detect that the Prothean splinter group (which wanted to control the Reapers instead of destroy them) were indoctrinated until it was too late. Again IT states that Shep has been exposed to the Indoctrination process, NOT that he's already indoctrinated. Check my vid and you'll see what I say is true."

smudboy: "No. Shepard either is or isn't indoctrinated. Same with Benezia, Shiala, and the Salarians on Virmire. You either are pregnant or not; not "sort of" pregnant. ME1 is very clear on this. IT is an interpretative pile, so I have no interest in wasting time on a delusion."

I know this is a couple of hours old, but I'd just like to point out that what the Prothean VIs probably mean by "indoctrinated" is "has reaper tech implants," since if you have those you are definitely indoctrinated, but they aren't mandatory for being indoctrinated. The only people we know the VIs called indoctrinated were Saren, Kai Leng, and TIM, all of whom have reaper implants. This also explains how the Protheans and their Crucible project were sabotaged from within, even with their super VIs (The sleeper agents just didn't have Reaper tech implants) and the plothole of how the VIs can apparently detect small, otherwise unnoticable changes in the nervous systems of the "primitive" races of this cycle which the Vigil had never encountered before and Vendetta had only encountered asari, not humans, (The 30 seconds Shepard got to talk to him before Kai Leng came wouldn't be enough) while they couldn't detect the changes in the race that made them.

Guess what, guys? The Prothean VIs don't practice in the dark arts of :wizard: Space Magic :wizard: to detect indoctrination. Sorry.

Also, hi Arian!

These are simple minded people.

They've forgotten that there is such a thing as an enemy who is disengenous and lies,

they've forgotten that there is such a thing as infallible technology and unreliable literary agents.

The fact alone that the Protheans were brought down from inside by INDOCTRINATED AGENTS should put that entire stupid argument to bed. Seriously, this kind of thinking is idiotic.

Also, hi
Lokanaiya!

You're right, I just felt the need to add that because it's always bothered me how people treat the Protheans VIs like they have some sort of magical ability to detect indoctrination, how it's never been identified HOW the VIs can detect indoc, and how the ability is just so inconsistent. Protheans weren't space magicians, dagnabit. <_<

Meh it’s all the troll and anti-IT attacks lately. You can only fend them off for so long before you start wondering if they’re right. The constant stone walling from BW isn’t helping either but I wouldn’t expect them to be doing anything different.

I’m holding on till the end, BW aren’t stupid, they know people are still pissed and they keep leaving so many little hints everywhere that they have to have a plan of some kind. If things are still the way they are now say around this time next year then I’ll hold my hands up and say “Yeah Bioware f***ed up royally...”

Interestingly, treating the Protheans as all-knowing beings is one of the largest sources of misunderstanding among characters in the ME universe.

Players using the Protheans' technology as justification for "no indoctrination is happening" is essentially another breach of the fourth wall

I hate trolls but I do thoroughly enjoy reading literalist interpretations as long as they don't present their case in an offensive way.  With this in mind, I do like to browse through the ending support forums from time to time.

Bioware wants the ending to be discusses and will not say anything for quite a while yet, if ever.  I know that's annoying but that's the way the ball rolls.

Take comfort in the fact that a lot of plausible evidence has been built up for IT and, until Bioware explicitly states otherwise, IT is a valid ending point of view, no matter what the trolls tell you.

The same goes for the Literalist viewpoint

If there's one thing that makes me hopeful about IT, is that the people who believe it here are always friendly, mature, and genuinely try to understand what happened out of love for the series. I know from my own experience that as soon as I stopped being disappointed and angry shortly after I finished ME3, and asked myself WHY Bioware did it with a clear head, it was then that I realized it was indoctrination with no word of the idea from the internet (I was avoiding spoilers at the time.) I get the feeling it was the same for many others in this thread.

By what I've seen of the anti-IT and troll crowd, they're always insulting, spiteful, and defensive. These are not people looking for the truth, and even if they are, being hostile doesn't set you up to see what's going on clearly. It seems like they're stuck in the mad-at-Bioware phase (which I admit I was in for a short time) and want to stay there.

SO, don't let them drag you down. People who attack an opinion or speculation (especially something that would benefit the ending like IT does) to satisfy their own spite shouldn't be taken seriously.  As for Bioware, I can definitely understand feeling discouraged by their vague answers, and then I remind myself it hasn't been all that long since ME3 came out, and these things take time.  Just Leviathan was started shortly after ME3 came out in March and it's taken till now to release.

The the five stages of "Outrage-At-Confusing-Literature"

1: Anger

2:Depression

3:Bargaining

4:Speculation

5: Satisfaction

We're at stage 4. They're still in stages 1-3. No one is at stage 5 yet. Not here anyway.

While your quote is good, I think this one applies better to the current situation:

EDIT: I corrected your spelling of Friedrich Nietzsche ;)

Also, Anton Chekov, good choice. Inventor of the Chekov's Gun analogy.

Kinda funny all those indoctrination guns we keep seeing in the first act *cough*.
