I wasn't calling it winning. It's just proof that all humanoid life hasn't vanished forever. There's also a popup that tells us we won.

Did anyone think what the next would-be-cycle would be like? Reaper army harvested human race alongside Shepard. Now, step over Harbinger, we got new heavy weight champion in the ranks...

How would next civilisations handle THAT?

Only proper way of winning I see is human reaper do what humans do best - **** things up and destroy themselves :D lol

Yaghs will be the dominant species next cycle.  That'd make for some pretty impressive battles.

Ah, okay, I see. But then an interesting idea occurs:

If ambiguity in the story of Blade Runner was suggesting the question whether the difference between replicants and humans is even that big, then the story of Mass Effect 3 might allow for the discussion point: What is victory and is it therefore even important?

Boy, that sounds like two things:
a) It's something a writer would approve as it allows him or her to not resolve an seemingly unsolvable conflict
B) It's something your enemy in the war would love you to think about.:P

-- about a): In ME3 the writers proved that they are able to resolve the Geth/Quarian conflict and the Genophage approximately properly, so they can do that.
-- about B): You know what this is implying...

Leviathan says that each Reaper is based on their form. But the human Reaper from ME2 is clearly based on a human form. Either it's a contradiction in story-telling or Leviathan doesn't know that and a human form is superior to a Reaper form which explains your assertion. Or there is another reason I'm not aware of.

Someone posted that the human reaper larva might just be the core and the cuttlefish shell would be added later on

About (a). If the writers chose this path, it would be only because the resolution could get really nasty, gory and even disgusting. The Reapers aren't the ones to hold anything back, I'd think.

Please, Indoctrination is not an enemy. It cannot be. It's a tool like science and technology. They simply are.

If Indoctrination actually is an artificial synthetic intelligence, it can be an enemy. Personally, I really like that idea, would be amazing to discover that ^_^

Everytime I see the Bladerunner comparison, it fills me with so much hate I can taste stabbing. Epic bad comparison is epic bad.

The ME2 art book, I think it was, said that every Reaper's "core" looks like the species it was made from. On the outside, they're all cuttlefish. On the inside, they're whatever was butchered to make them. Destroyers are never explained. Probably because they're an asspull to let Shepard fight a Reaper on foot.

I'm skeptical about that cause Indoctrination, if anything, could only be the very process by which that A.I. arouses.

They were also used to explain why they were only making a human reaper if they wanted to 'preserve' all intelligent life. Apparently 'lesser' races get made into little reapers.  Still an asspull, but for two things.

*sigh* this thread is quite confusing sometimes, then at least thanks for confirming that, don't have the artbook myself

Another valid point of view on that theory, equally interesting ;)

It wasn't even sarcasm. It's true under literal interpretation. Also "We simply are" was a quote from Sovvy.

So the Reapers are a tool for the AI and the AI was a tool for Leviathans. By extension, Leviathans are the enemy because they aren't a tool? Posted Image

The quote from Sovereign seemed appropriate there. Posted Image
