Glad you're ok though.

Something else I just realized. In the Extended Cut, EDI mentions "we must leave the system". In every game of Mass Effect, there isn't a solar system next to the Sol system. In Mass Effect 2 & 3, systems that you can't leave are marked with a red ring at the edge of it.

So they exit a system that can't be exited, and crash land on a planet which has a texture called "DreamFoilage".

Just watched an episode of Alphas where a kid uses infrasound to control people. His ability was centered in the frontal cortex....

The Reapers control of the Limbic System leaves the victim highly susceptible to it's suggestions. These "suggestions" are actually hallucinations according to that link I posted. Think we already know about the hallucinations though. Just wanted to provide some medical proof.

According to d'Aquili and Newberg (1993) mystical states may be voluntarily or involuntarily induced and are dependent upon the differential stimulation and deafferentation of limbic system nuclei, including the hypothalamus, hippocampus, and amygdala, as well as the right frontal and right temporal lobe. However, it appears that these brain areas differentially contribute to religious and emotional experience.

The amygdala, hippocampus, and temporal lobe are richly interconnected and appear to act in concert in regard to mystical experience, including the generation and experience of dream states and complex auditory and visual hallucinations, such as may be induced by LSD

Intense activation of the temporal lobe, hippocampus, and amygdala has been reported to give rise to a host of sexual, religious and spiritual experiences; and chronic hyperstimulation can induce an individual to become hyper-religious or visualize and experience ghosts, demons, angels, and even "God," as well as claim demonic and angelic possession or the sensation of having left their body

In plain English. Shepard is hallucinating and is experiencing a dream like state. Third paragraph basically says Starchild is a ghost, as does the indoctrination codex "ghostly prescences".

I think it's possible to use FTL for an emergency escape, even if there's nowhere to go. Also, I believe they were using the relay, which is why the fleets return home instead of just nipping out of Sol.

EDIT: although that makes no sense because the speed the relays went up means they couldn't have made all the jumps necessary. Put that on the pile of things that don't add up.

That, and one of the relays that was activated was the one in the Viper Nebula. If you played the Arrival DLC, that would have been destroyed, but I did see ships going through it. It's kind of hard to see. It's at the far southeast corner. Think someone brought that up a while ago, but you can't go anywhere from the Viper Nebula because there's no relay there.

Hi again.
Any new clues that could answer the question if the AI/reapers are shackled?

That's a question? I thought murderous rampage equaled unshackled?

'Sup Raven and Restrider? How goes the speculation?

I only tend to pop in and out of this thread so I find it hard to keep up.

I really hope each reaper is an independent, unshackled intelligence. I think it's more sinister and relevant. I don't know if any clues exist though?

Have there been any so far?

No real clues, rather mere speculation.
The bottom line is: Are reapers/ THE AI able to change their motives/programming? If not, then this would be equal to a shackled AI.
On the other hand they may have just come to the conclusion -applying their logic- that the cycles are the best way to fulfill their task and thus are not going to change their modus operandi at all, since it would be a downgrade.

if it is able to evolve beyond the purpose it was created for, those that mean it's unshackled?

Although there is still uncertainties about what it was actually created for. It could actually be doing what it was intended for.

Leviathan say's it doesn't know what the AI is looking for, which would kind of signify that it has altered it's objectives of it's own accord.

I guess this is, besides the question where the breath scene takes place, one of the questions that will give you the jackpot, if you are able to answer them.

I see the thread took a hit to it's morale a couple of pages back. Just wanna say that it is a testament to the dedication of the fans of the Mass Effect series that this thread is almost half way through it's third incarnation. Sure, it can be slightly off topic and a bit random at times but I don't think people should get disheartened or put off by it. I think the thread is quite healthy at the moment with some fresh ideas and interpretations being floated. Not every post will lead to ten pages of discussion on one topic but I'm fine with that, I don't think we should be scared of it either.

At the end of the day, you're all great and polite and welcoming and above all, determined!!

Much love to you all!!

So i've found this in some other thread about Indoctrination.

Remember a while back when i was asking about the fact when TIM had the conversation with Kai Leng and said that he didn't saw Shepard at a total loss just yet?

Then i've found this conversation in the other thread.

--------

Shepard: "So, The Illusive Man was right after all."

Intelligence: "Yes, but he could never have taken control, because we already controlled him."

---------

Illusive Man: "I underestimated you, Shepard. I warned you, control is the means to survival, control of the Reapers, and of you, if necessary."

Shepard (renegade dialogue): "Why waste your time with us when you can control the Reapers?"

Illusive Man: "Because... I need you to believe."

---------

Shepard (paragon dialogue): "Controlling me is a lot different than controlling a Reaper."

Illusive Man: "Have a little faith..."

---------

So was TIM already planning not to kill Shepard but force him in the direction of Control?
I mean maybe he already knew that he couldn't control the reapers, but Shepard could?

Was that his plan?
