My brother told me that Jessica Merizan told him when they met at Games Com that if they'd make a sequel, then it would be after Synthesis would have occurred, either naturally through organic life's own technological advancement, or as a direct result of Shepard's actions.

Did he tell her he'd had enough of her disingenuous assertions?

"...our new Mass Effect project"? A full game or just the Omega DLC?

Considering the line immediately after mentioning that is "he and his leads are putting together their vision for an all new game set in a fictional universe, built from the bottom-up with all new gaming technology.", I think it's pretty safe to say the former. Also sounds like it'll be for the next-gen consoles, which isn't surprising.

But not Mass Effect then as I read it. A brand new franchise.

Oh please God, say it ain't so! Synthesis is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in sci-fi, and that's including the time the Doctor used the Tardis to tow the entire planet Earth back to it's proper place in the solar system!

The only way such a game could work is if we discover that synthesis is indeed a poisoned chalice, designed by the Reapers or Leviathans to make people easier to control. That could maybe lead to a race to uncover and expose the truth and change everyone back before it's too late.

They were getting dangerously close to the beam so harby had to take out multiple targets at once.

Harby may not have even recognized shepard amongst all the fodder. Had harby noticed it was shep, it might have been more likely to make sure he/she was finished off

Synthesis would make humans seem less human. Unless you go adam jenson...who figures his morals make him more human than some unmodded humans

 lol. Can you imagine how annoyed the die-hard synthesis fans would be if their favoured ending turned out not to be the bed of roses they imagined? Lucky for Bioware there's not all that many of them.

Does Merizan actually know about internal development plans?
Isn't she only responsible for public relations?
Maybe she is getting false info (at least I hope she is not right about that Synthesis cr@p)?

I share the same opinion with my brother when it comes to synthesis. It is only good if organic life achieves it on its own. If somebody forces it on each and every one of them... Well, that's just horrible. Morally, it's unjustifiable, and scientifically, it's simply impossible. Releasing a wave of energy can not, in any way whatsoever, alter anything in an organic being to become half synthetic, and it can not alter any matrix of organic life, because organic life does not have a matrix.
Forcing synthesis on organic life that hasn't achieved it itself is like giving nukes to cavemen. They don't know how to use this effectively.

So the hyper-intelligent space monsters who have been looking for such a solution for a billion years or more didn't even realize synthesis was possible, but than our organic races do it on their own later anyway.

Seems. Legit.

Maybe Normandy stopping by should have clued him in. Maybe Harbs has myopia
