Found a war asset, presumably...

The blueprints for the Prothean device found on Mars call for remarkable quantities of element zero throughout its structure, even in its circuitry. A precious commodity at the best of times, the Alliance and its allies are annexing all sources of eezo the Reapers haven't cut off. The cache liberated from Omega is a welcome boost to their resources.

Is BioWare planning on creating a completely new franchise?

Yep, that's pretty clear in the blog post. This will be their first new IP without the good doctors and while under EA reign. I won't hold my breath, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic. At least we don't have to be concerned about the next ME title being an MMO, after the financial disaster that is SWTOR.

I remember someone finding that (Element Zero Core asset, I believe) and a Cerberus Flotilla asset in the game files about 6 months ago.

'The Prothean Device'. Why not just say 'The Crucible'?

Also, funny how it needs so much Eezo. Its almost like whoever designed it didn't want any Eezo to be left over for creating starships or weaponry.

Seems so. Though with Ray and Greg leaving...

Honestly it smells fishy too me. Apperently they made the choice right as the EC was announced (which was also when SWTOR was starting to go downhill). Looks like EA are going to have killed yet another developer.

Urgh.

What's more interesting though is that Casey Hudson and friends are working on that new franchise. So they are working on 2 projects simultaneously (the other being obviously ME4).

Honestly, it's strange they decided to leave right now. They created the company. How can they just abandon the work of their lives? They don't retire because of old age. Money, you say? That they are rich now? What about passion to create unforgettable games? You can't retire from being passionate unless you burnt out. But how could they have burnt out if BioWare's history is a walk of fame.

Rats jumping from a sinking ship, perhaps.

Either that or they were pushed out by EA due to recent problems.  Its well known that EA will destroy companies that don't make money instantly, even if they used to make lots of money and are going to in the near future.  They killed Westwood, for goodness sake!

Or they might just geniunely be tired of their work and want to move on to someone else.  Who knows.

I guess we'll have to wait a couple of years and see how it all unfolds. In 2 years we'll look back and judge with our wallets, seriously pondering the quality of their games.

1.ME3 was the biggest let down in gaming history. One that will be remember as such forever.

2.SWTOR is a complete bust. Gamers are already burned out on WoW and the combat (one that I saw coming since before the release date) is so lame that it alone will kill it. I mean how can a game be good if your hitting 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and repeating it for every time you attack?...Thats boring!

Hey, I'd not go that far!  There's been plenty of much worse games.  E.T. for example.

And heck, ME3 wouldn't be 'bad' if not for the fact ME1 and ME2 are so amazing.  As a stand alone it would be pretty darn good.

I think the impact of ME3 was WAY bigger then E.T.. Second, your happy with a meh type ending when the Devs are more then capable of blowing your mind and did not? Indoc Theory had that, as well as one of the most golden opportunities to use it and make the gusiest  and best endings ever but didnt use it.Posted Image

ME1 and ME2 were great games because they stayed on a plot direction that made sense instead of having the kill-all-reapers-button come from nowhere.

I still hope they can right the wrong of ME3. If not, well, I liked the ending anyway, but not as much as if it was a hallucination.

Nah.  E.T. contributed to killing the entire video game industry for a period of several years.

Whoever said I was happy with the ending?  I never did.  I just said ME3 wasn't that bad as a game, and it would have been better if it was stand alone without the legacy of ME1 and 2 looming over it.

Haha. I heard about that and saw how mediocre (even for its time) a game it was.

yeah I hope they can do it but there bad track record started with DA2 and just got worse and now the founders of Bioware are retiring and there not even that old at all.

I think there retiring becauses of the bad direction they have been taking the company since DA2.

Though apperently the Atari port of Pacman lost them more money (the year previously).  Mostly because they made more copies of the game then they'd ever made consoles.  Which is a bizzare business strategy to say the least.

Might be. After all, comparing ME3 to ME2, BioWare abandoned many great aspects of gameplay, like diverse dialog options (neutral option), a flexible and easy to use journal, character-driven story (even if it was only a part of ME3). They improved many things though, like combat, graphics, sound. Story was great but didn't have any sense of discovery. You were given a single goal and everything you did revolved around it. Sure, there were side missions, but they didn't seem as interesting as recruitment/loyalty missions in ME2. Basically, the game feels linear - there's one correct way to play it from the beginning to the end.

1. I loved ME3, I still do, I can't wait to play it again with all the DLC once it comes out.

2. SWTOR is freakin awesome, it's got 8 different stories wrapped in one with co-op as an option. I've played through 3 full characters and can't wait to finish the other 5, I know plenty others who feel the same. Then again I know plenty others who are still dissapointed for various reasons. Combat seems fun to me, not sure what else I'd use other than my number pad and naga-pad for it with that many skill and combination options. It's not for everyone, but it's for enough others.

SWTOR would have been better suited as a single player RPG.  From what everyone says, the leveling is the best part of the game.  Once you finish your storyline, there's not a huge amount left to keep you engaged.

Which completely defeats the purpose of an MMO.

A quote from Aaryn Flynn's blog entry,
"“Where to go next?” with such a project has been a question a lot of us have been asking, and we’d all love to hear your ideas."
Would the IT be our best idea? I know it's something I'd like to see, makes for a canon ending and leaves the floor a lot less of a mess for a ME4. Think about it, how complex it would be to have to make a game based on three (or four) different endings choices that result in such a vast change to the entire galaxy.

I don't think they could even have the same story, with Control you have the Reapers keeping the peace, Synthesis everyone seems to be getting along with eachother including the Reapers, Destroy there are no Reapers (at least in the Milky Way) and most species seem to have pulled together in some kind of peace. Even set 10,000 years later, Synthesis is still Synthesis and Control is still Control.

/shrug

End game includes daily/weekly pvp missions with other capped level players (frustrating as hell sometimes) and PvE Operations (raids). The main factor in SWTOR is replay, specifically with different character classes from level 1 to 50. But now we're getting off topic, sorry Priestly!
