You know something that always bothered me and I'm not sure I brought it up- when you encounter TIM/Anderson at a certain point TIM will say "...I saved humanity!"

"I saved humanity" Anyone see a problem with that?

I SAVED humanity. The reapers are still around, even indoctrinated TIM knows he hasn't controlled the reapers yet. He could have said "I'm saving humanity" or "I'm going to save humanity" Instead he decided to say it in past tense, as if it already happened. I wonder if he saw the same wonderful things you see if you choose control and synthesis and was living in a fantasy land.

Always bugged me.

I think the whole conversation deserves posting

TIM: No! I... I saved humanity.
Shep: No, you sacrificed us for you own selfish wants, your lust for control!
TIM: No. No!
Shep: You were supposed to protect us. And you failed.
TIM: No! I am the savior of humanity!
I am the pinnacle of our species!

Am I the only one that sees a problem with the last line? ;)

Exactly! Sovereign's words!

Operation Patriot approaching.

Squad Goal: Extraction on any difficulty with all squad members as the same non-human race. Requires 2 or more players in squad.

Allied Goal: Kill 600,000 Atlas Mechs on any map at any difficulty.

Special Circumstances: Escort Drones travel speed reduced.

TIM's bid to control the reapers had some legitimacy, however the problem was that TIM already succumbed to indoctrination before he could finish the job. Shepard can ultimately to chose control the reapers in TIM's place by sacrificing his life in order to reprogram the catalyst to his own ideals.

Why does shepard have to die in order to reprogram the catalyst? Well, why did legion have to die in order to reprogram the geth?

What kind of legitimacy? Almost every single past attempt at controlling anything has ended in a complete disaster and that is not only in regards to Cerberus. Uplifting the Krogan ended so well, even the Genophage would have failed had they not modified it...do I even have to mention Overlord...

The only control Cerberus has achieved is over its own men and Husks...and the husks lasted right until Reaper forces decided too wander a little too close.

But no lets look at this in another way. Remember the Quarians and the morning war? 300 years they have lived on that fleet. It took them 300 years to create a viable weapon against an AI they created themselves and Quarians are renowned for their skill with Tech. 300 years and the Reapers made it completely useless with a few upgrades.

What does that say of Cerberus chances of finding a viable way?

In regards to Legion i am not quite sure. My guess is that something in the code made it impossible to out right copy it into the consensus and in order to distribute it he had to become fully part of the consensus himself. But in doing so the indivdiual units which he was made up of, that made him who he is, was scattered througout the consensus.

Or maybe it is different. Remember what the Reaper upgrades did. Each Geth unit became a fully fledged AI. Now Legion had many units inside his body, it was what made him able to work on his own. Now think what that meant for Legion. Did all the units inside him fuse and become a single Ai or did each unit become its own AI with a single bit, Legion, guiding them? If so it would make sense why he "died" as each part of him was giving freedom so too speak.

Just two ideas.

Seems very doable. I have to say that the actual descriptions/after action reports for the operations have gotten pretty lazy and bland since Operation Olympus. Also, slower drones? They really need to come up with better "punishments" for operation failures.

Interesting that the focus starts to shift from the Reapers towards Cerberus. Like in Act 2.

And even if they did find an iron-clad, guaranteed method of controling the reapers, it would still be an appalling turn of events. Controlling the reapers is way too much power to put in anyone's hands, let alone a bunch of sinister human supremacists.

And what if all the millions put through the blender to make each reaper still have any self awareness? Kepping them trapped in that state for ever - ugh, doesn't bear thinking about.

Was wondering if we would gain more insight on the indoctrinated with the Leviathan DLC. From the outside looking in, it seems the reapers really take your body apart and repurpose it to their own ends. Nothing of the original species is left....but then you think about mass effect 2 and the collector general showing genuine emotion right before the collector base is destroyed

From the indoctrinated possessing shreds of their former selves to object rho blatantly broadcasting it's intent to indoctrinate shepard, none of these things are really mentioned in me3. Which is as unfortunate as it is mind boggling

You're mixing up 2 things. The Collector General has been implanted with Reaper tech so that they could control him. With the control signal he retains his personality (or it'd seem so). On the other hand, genetic paste pumped through the tubes into the human Reaper has no thoughts, personality or any other form of consciousness more than does soup on your table. Sorry, this is the way it is.

Hey Byne! Long time. It's lunchtime right now at school. The new RvB was awesome. The pieces are falling together, and I'm noticing many similarities with the only other thing I can speculate about...

When the AIs went crazy it was pretty disturbing.

Also, the return of Doc and Donut was awesome!

Yeah, we haven't had a Cerberus-themed Operation since late April. Strange that in six months of Operations, there has never been one focused on the Geth.

Control will never end well, but it is possible. All you have to do is build a crucible, attach it to the citadel, then sacrifice yourself while changing star kids prime directive
