I don't know, I would have enjoyed watching a James Vega V. Kai Leng. It could have played out just like the fight you have with him at the beginning of the game.NebuchadnezzaRT wrote...

I vehemetly agree!! In fact my first intorduction to Sci-Fi Shields was through Frank Herbert's Dune. A lasgun on a shield would create a near nuclear explosion. The slow moving object penetrated the shield- thus inevitable melee with a shielded opponent.
But none of your squadmates are hand to hand specialists (at least not on Kai Leng's level and yes supposition) Thane's fight with Leng is not recreatable with Vega or EDI...

What about after Kai Leng has already shot the Councilor? Have you watched the scene where the assasination is a success?Rob Psyence wrote...
You also have to take into consideration that the Salarian councilor was standing between the fight and shepard and the others, which might explain why there wasn't any shooting.

Realistically speaking Vega's muscle mass would be a hinderance in a fight against someone using Kai Leng's fighting style, when all he knows is probably only a little marine kenpo.

I've played both, but its been awhile since my first playthrough. He doesn't really stick around as long in that version anyway does he?
EDIT: I know you were joking btw

Well basically he shoots the councilor and then Shepard says "You're going to pay for that" and starts firing, but your squadmates literally do nothing. They stand and watch. You run after Kai Leng and keep firing, and he gets away. After he gets away your squad runs up behind you.Rob Psyence wrote...

I didn't really pay much attention to them, its pretty odd lol its funny to think if it was just a delusion, they'd be "what the hell is shepard shooting at?"

About Anderson, you never tell him anything about Leng though.
...
Heh, somehow I find myself chuckling over the idea of Anderson's ears pricking up and him probing for substantiating info, during that conversation:
-Sir, there was this assassin...
-!... Short silly-looking guy?
-Err... yes..?
-Pony tail? Dumb **** in front of his eyes? Lugs around a piece of flat iron?
-...
-Kai Leeeeeeng.
:-9
The guy did actually have a bit of my respect for a few seconds, when you first encounter him and he carefully steps around to make sure he has the Salarian councillor between himself and you at all times (even though he exposed himself at all, as opposed to sniping from the shadows). After that moment it all falls apart -- maybe the scene had been easier to make credible, if Shepard had become separated from the rest of the squad first.

I get what you're saying, but surely you realize that as is it's terrible. There was this one guy there "Kai Leng! I'll get you all the info you need on him. Good thing I keep his dossier lying around the foxholes for emergencies"jojon2se wrote...

Not questioning or determining either way -- I just thought what I wrote was an amusing way to conduct the scene, with the way it has Anderson breaking both the suspenseful flow and his own grim demeanor. :7

On another topic:
I was just watching ME space battles and one thing came to my mind. Before ME 3 was released, we were all wondering how our decisions might impact on the storyline, especially the Council decision and Collector Base decision.
I know, it kind of does not really matter today, but I think that saving the Council was not the optimal solution and here is why:
If you let the Council die, the Council fleets will have certain losses while the human fleet is stronger than ever. Furthermore, in a ME 2 news comment, the turian hierarchy sees no obligation in keeping the Treaty of Farixen. Thus they are starting to produce bigger amounts of dreadnoughts than usual, since the political situation kind of foreshadows a conflict between the turians (maybe combined with the asari and salarians) and the uprising humans. All in all, you would have some kind of arms race that would be beneficial in defending against the reapers.
Off topic part 2:
What is the default situation, if you do not import a character to ME2? I know that the Council is dead, as is the rachni queen and Wrex, but has the Council been replaced by an all-human Council?
Edit:
Has someone a plan to do an IT MP group to beat the challange today? If so, notify me.

The Council is replaced by a new one comprised of individuals from all the 3 Council races and a human. You get to choose whether it's Anderson or Udina at the beginning of ME2. Before you meet TIM Miranda asks you a few questions to check up on your memory.Restrider wrote...

That political plan for the arms race is devious but might end up an effective scheme to prepare the Galaxy for the Reaper invasion. Too bad the original Council is so much better than the new one.

it won't be like the default no-import ME 2 run?
I do not expect to see some kind of racist, human dictatorship with Udina at its top, though I'd like to see it.

They seemed like the reverse to me. The asari was a jerk and the turian was quite nice. The salarian was the same but with a different voice.paxxton wrote...

In ME 1/2 my preferences regarding the councilors were: Valern>Tevos>>Sparatus
In ME 3 though that changed due to the reasons I will mention later: Sparatus>Valern>Tevos
1) At the beginning, Sparatus is the only of the councilors that is not totally shocked and he even gives you the necessary intel to get the turians on Shep's side, while Valern kind of panics and Tevos kind of abandons you.
2) Valern's comments on your actions (ie genophage) are kind of ambiguous, but you can interpret them positively. Furthermore his part during the coup, gives him some points in my book.
3) Tevos not taking part during the meeting of the krogan's, turian's and salarian's was just... stupid. I hoped for some kind of galactic meeting of importance, and that is kind of what I got, but without the asari on board, it is not complete. Furthermore since the asari try to solve conflicts with diplomacy, I kind of felt that it was paradoxically by them not to take part at such an important summit. This even leads to the absence of the asari on the battlefield during the first half of the reaper war.
4) Tevos being nothing more than Aria's puppet did not increase my respect for the asari councilor.
5) The prothean beacon on Thessia. This may not be Tevos' fault, but it decreases my respect for the Asari Republics in general.
Well, you can guess that I felt kind of betrayed by Tevos.
