@Banshee: The vid was ok. It makes me want to get the writers in a locked room and pry all of their thoughts behind the endings out of them...I get the feeling that although we may be close with IT - there's something that we just haven't figured out...

I know the feeling. I didn't really want to make that video make sense though. But really, I want to ask them what they were thinking. If it wasn't IT, what the hell is wrong with them? 5 minutes after Shepard convinces the control-advocating TIM he's wrong, Shepard can control the reapers? No. Especially not with all of the foreshadowing about tough decisions that aren't easy and require sacrifice.

I mean, this is basic writing stuff that all writers know how to do...

I know, right?  And people say they just didn't know how to end it... BS.  That, too, is creative writing 101.  A decent writer already has the ending worked out in their head before they write the first word.

And they did.

Or certain events can play into Shepards indoctrination even if chooses Control/Synthesis. Choices or characters who can save the player in his darkest (with drawbacks of course). This is an old theory brought up, my paticular favorite beeing the Rachni Queen.

Mac Walter said this: “[The presence of the Rachni] has huge consequences in Mass
Effect 3. Even just in the final battle with the Reapers.”

A promise still unfulfilled. But think of what we know of the Rachni Queen. She can interact with the minds of living creatures and is resistant/immune to Indoctrination. The idea is that in case of Control/Synthesis the Rachni Queen if alive would interfere, linking with Shepards mind and giving him the resistance to break free, at least for a time. The cost to this could be the Rachni Queens death as it goes through the warzone to try and get close enough to Shepard.

This off course would not be the only of such possibilities down this route.

Well, I suppose by the "Rachni decision" you mean the decision we make in ME 3.
This kind of makes sense in the following way:
Since some players, who played ME3 are able to play ME1 (PS3), and the default decision in ME2 was dead Rachni, it would kind of be depressing for these players to not be able to alter that decision (unless by using SaveEditors). Thus, they kind of repeated the decision in ME3, the important consequences remain yet to be observed.
On a side note: Do the PS3 ME2 players get the Genesis Comic for free? Would kind of make sense, imho.

Actually look at the quote, he says the pressence of the Rachni, not the decision. If you dont have the rachni Queen alive and spare the fake queen she turns on you and from what i recall is killed leaving her completely unable to show up in the ending. Off course teh fake queen might have done something to the Crucible...also while we are on it the Fake Rachni Queen is under Reaper influence but the Reapers never learn the Crucibles location through her and move in to destroy it? Seems legit.

But this is just one example of things that might influence Shepard should he pick a wrong decision. It could be simple things such as extreme EMS or a LI or smaller things like Javiks Memory Shard (if you got it). I am not saying the Rachni are the only possibility, just taht it would make sense in relation to the quote.

What I cant believe is that Bioware ever thought the pre-ec (and post too honestly) paletye swap endings would ever be anything remotely close to the same galaxy as acceptable if that truly was it for the endings

Basically. We've heard basically nothing from the writers, Casey, or Mac post-launch. I hope there is a good reason, but if nothing comes of it after 6 months, I don't even know.

Also, assuming CleverNoob's description of Project X is even true, it still doesn't explain what happens in regards to those who picked Control and Synthesis. I simply can't see BioWare disregarding those others choices just because one ending happens to have Shepard alive. It may sound fine on paper, but I really do not see how it would work from a practical point of view.

2 things could happen.

1. You have some cinematic and or interactive new section where with Shepard being indoctrinated and trying to kill her squadmates or LI or something. Maybe the LI has to kill her. That would be heartwrenching.

2. They leave those 2 endings as is, and allow players to have both a literal or IT ending. It would be interesting.

The first one could work, but it would make a lot of folks unhappy me thinks.

The second possibility, on the other hand, does sound interesting. In fact, I'd welcome that with open arms. Only thing is, they'd need to canonize one of the two paths at the end. It couldn't stay open forever.

I think this is the strongest thing supporting there being post breath scene content.

Q1 2013, if we haven't had anything by the release of the last DLC, then I get the feeling that the chances of them ever actually CONFIRMING IT in game will be exteremely low.

I agree, but since we have yet to see what's really in Omega, and we only have speculation as to DLC3, I'm fairly optimistic Posted Image

Like I said earlier, Bioware is going to do way more damage to their name in the long run if it ends up being that they just cynically dragged people along for something that wasn't true.

They can't be that short sighted and arrogant, can they? You would think anyone claiming artistic integrity would come out to explain and defend their work if they really believed in it....unless their is a twist they don't want to spoil

I agree. All IT evidence for IT aside, it doesn't make sense, if IT isn't true, that they've let us go this long, and even defended and encouraged us!

I mean, 5506 pages of IT? And that's just this thread(s)!

Actually no. Coming out and explaining your work - is the something you NEVER do, if you really believe in it, or if you claim any sort of artistic integrity.
