Hey everyone my name is Shane and I am a complete Mass Effect Newb. ME3 is my first ME game and so far i am really enjoying it. I currently have 2 characters that I am playing to feel out and see which playstyle I like better, an infiltrator at lvl 10 and a sentinel at lvl 4.  I am at a complete loss to how most of the game works lol. I understand the idea that the more weapons you carry the longer it takes to recharge spells so my infiltrator only carries a sniper and an smg. Is there anyother important information I should be aware of or anyplace on the interwebs that may have an easy to read compilation of tips and tricks? A brief search didn't turn much up. Also as for builds and such I am pretty sure as someone who has played RPGs before I can make a build on my own relatively easily but I was wondering if their are any key perks to pick up for either of these two characters. Thank you in advance for all the help guys.

I'd say the fun of it is to experiment in-game different builds, and find your favorite style/try out fun play styles.

But in regards to your questions - Infiltrator builds are usually long-rage sniper rifle users (i personally don't think you'd need a side-arm to begin with, snipers are effective in close range as well, because of time dillation mod), or CQC specialists with shotguns. But the basic principle is to spec everything into weapon damage.

Sentinel is a very flexible character. He can fit every role, depending on how you spec him - Biotic/Tech Detonator/Primer, tank, high-damage dealer, and many more. So you'll have to experiment and see which you find the most fun to play as. Keep in mind that you can respec your powers at any time in the Normandy's med bay. First time it's free for both you and your squadmates. After that it increases by 5k credits per use.

For bonus powers, imo, the best one is Energy Drain from Tali. All around useful power for all classes.

I suggest experimenting with everything. Also stick to one class at a time.

A tad dated, but an excellent place to start:  http://social.biowar.../index/10712294

The links at the bottom of the first post should be helpful and most importantly, have fun.

If that is too much, just keep these in mind: http://social.biowar.../index/10165396

you won't want to hear this, but the best advice I can give you is put your game on hold and start with ME1...

otoh, maybe the best way to "appreciate" ME3 is to not play the others - that way you'll never know what you're missing...
