Has 1.01 solved many of the problems that people have been having? Or should I expect the main campaign to implode onto itself even with the new patch?
So.....is it safe to use the toolset yet?

I was initially apprehensive at using the toolset, but after doing a little bit of research I knew what to do and what to avoid, and I haven't had a single problem with either version.
You should read Preventing the Toolset from Breaking Your Game.

Personally, I haven't had any OC issues since upgrading to toolset version 1.01. If that's your only worry (i.e. you don't have any of those "Unable to connect to DB" issues), then I would say go for it. Just make sure to be upgraded to game version 1.02 first though. They added some new engine level functions to sys_traps_h.nss that wasn't a part of the older game versions.

Windows XP SP3. Interestingly enough, I have heard that people with Vista/Windows 7 have been having issues, mostly admin rights related.

The short answer is "yes, it is safe to use the toolset". That tutorial is out-of-date.Sensory wrote...

The advice not to edit the Single Player module (i.e. the official campaign) is still valid, unless that's what you're trying to do. Anyone wanting to make a new adventure needs to start by making a new module.
I've referred elsewhere to an integrity issue but that's really just something that needs fixing for good order. In the short term, it can be avoided by disabling your custom modules on the DLC screen before resuming OC play. If you forget to do that, the worst that can happen is that the OC asks whether you want to force a load, to which the answer is "yes".
