I'm not a picky person.

One romance, a pirate woman, a rebal. A fighter, kick ass of a woman. Yes that I can drink to..however she seems a little "open" sexually then most. She talk's about the men she's been with in code and jokes with my companon's sexually.

What stopped me is, I'm doing a quest where we find the Elf from the Orgins. He's about to leave and she say's "What no sex stunned I looked to her and she says "You can join in too"

She is not shy about her feelings, but I find disturbing is where she dock's her boats un savory places..

The second romance option is  shy elf, nice enough. She seems like the innocent type with not boasting of experience. However her body isn't exactly what I wanted.

What I want, is someone like Morrgian who has the body but is not explict about her past. She is a mystery that I have to discover.

Am I too picky?

Isabela is a girl who had experience the good, the bad and the ugly, she knows live is shoort and she is trying to get the "best" out of it, she is no shy of what she want or like, why hide it? you won't get what you want by keeping quiet, do you?
I like isabela alot, I think she had alot of adventures and not all them had sex on it.. ok... one can only hope!

Morrigan's life in the other hand is only about her, her mother and the victims in that danm forest.. what do you want her to say? sorry!? lol! She doesn't even know who flemeth is.. she never had friends, she doesn't undestand humans relations, the only things she could talk about is, how they tricked templars to their deaths or how flemth feed from the survivors after the battle of Ostagar.. nothing really.

The "shy elf" Well she is wierd I give you that! thats not bad.. it just... she is wierd.

It's not that I don't appreciate how good her body looks. Or her unforgiving attitude, even the sex she had with me in my place I had no complaints about. This isn't she's too sexy. It's that if she was a romance option.

Would I really want a girl who while romanced with me, made hints to have sex with other men. She is very cut throat but basking about her former sex partner's and joking overly flirty with my companions..

The first time I romanced her bed bed. I ask "Is that it"...she replys casually "I was curious about you now my curiosity is sated"..and then I replied "Is that all I am to you is a distraction"..

I'm in it for the romance. I don't want her plowing other men after that but she seemed perfectly comfortable. Maybe it's just me but in general I'm Pro Sex and no complaint's about that.

 @OP - Some folks don't give their hearts right away - they tuck that part of themselves away behind many defenses. If you complete Isabela's romance arc, you'll see the true *romantic* aspect of it shine through in Act 3.

How romances in stories or games resonate with the players/readers/audience/etc will vary because we all have different expectations and definitions of what qualifies as romance/romantic. So while the DA2 romances may not have suited you, they may have been deemed quite thrilling and enjoyable by others, and vice versa for the romances in DA:O. It's all about personal taste.

And as such, personally, I found that in my many playthroughs of DA2, I couldn't have Hawke romance anyone but Isabela.

i found Isabella the most funny choice if you 4 some in Dragon Age 1 specially if the Warden is Hawke's cousin aka the Amell Mage

Isabella's attitude is understandable up until the point where she admits her affection for Hawke. After that, if you encounter Zevran it does seem a little off that she would knock boots with him. Mind you the whole Zevran episode was off if he had romanced your warden because the flags didn't work properly. Zevran states in Origins that he is no cheat, yet has a causual fling with Isabella in DA2.

Actually Morrigan's attitude to sex is very similar to Isabella's. It is just something you do to amuse yourself or to get you something you want. She just is not so obvious about it as Isabella, in her speech that is, her clothes certainly don't leave much to the imagination. Both are just as cynical about love initially but come to see it differently if the PC perseveres.

It is the romantic alternative that I find harder to warm to in DA2. There is something disturbing about Merrill regardless of her physical appearance. Probably why the majority of my male Hawkes are gay.

Her obsessiveness to start with. I also think the sweetness is something she uses to manipulate people. She is not as guileless as she makes out. I suppose my biggest gripe comes from the way in which she reacts in the Fade to the promise of the demon. Now Fenris and Isabella are non mages and so inexperienced in their dealings with demons, so more likely to succumb. However, Merrill has stated that she is well aware that all spirits are dangerous and that it is a mistake to trust them. She seems well aware of the need to be cautious with her own demon, yet some strange demon in the Fade makes an offer that plays on her obession and she falls for it. I find it very difficult to be on a friendship basis with Merrill, yet what I find even more difficult to understand is that on the rival path, at the end she smashes the mirror in what appears to be a fit of pique. After all that insistance on how important it is to preserve the past, she destroys it, not because it is dangerous but because it won't work.

It just seems disappointing that you can't have a mage romance with a mage that doesn't have some dangerous relationship with spirits/demons that ultimately ends in tears. You see, to be fair to Merrill, I found it hard to warm to Anders either and at least with Merrill I did manage to get the whole way through on a romance with her but only the once.

The Fade demons mind control people. You forgot that Varric and Aveline also succumb, as well. And the rival path is a hideous piece of crap. Additionally, I never got any sense that Merrill was in any way manipulative; she certainly never speaks that way to any Dalish, with whom she's both far more comfortable and relatively antagonistic. All in all, I never had any real difficulties with the Merrill romance.

Nope, i agree with you. I'm not a fan of the romance options in DA2 but hopefully Bioware steps their game up in DA3 with the romance options. Now i never did romanced isabela, But if i ever chose to play as a male Hawke i would rather just romance Merill, she's probably the only decent romance option as a male Hawke. Hell, Some people even use mods to romance Bethany!
