I agree with this, Although two versions wouldn't hurt if people wanted to get fussy.

Definately, I'm sure that there are people that likes ME3's vanilla look for Ash, so I guess sooner or later an Alliance Blue pack would be needed too. But it's JeanLuc the one who'll have to do the work, so let's leave the decision to him.

Oh I hate when Shep wears that uniform that C-Sec wears when first reaching the Citadel. I always switch to the Alliance uniform you see him/her in at beginning first chance I get.

The new white uniform for Miranda looks real good in ME2.

Alright, EDI's texture is pissing me off (seriously Bioware, a 256x256 normal map for her ENTIRE body?), so here's something to hold you guys over.

hmm, I honestly don't know what to think about Liara's appearance. Maybe it's this particular screenshot, but the armour doesn't seem as detailed as I would have expected. Maybe I'm just used to smartek's version (her upper chest plate is very sharp and detailed for his), or maybe it's something else.

Jean, you're known for super detail in character models, but I'm just not seeing it very well for Liara.

I didn't do her upper chest plate yet ;)

But you're right, it needs that extra "oomph."

@JeanLuc

As far as EDI goes; is your MOD going to address the dark "jaggies" around the metal on her chest? I know the other MOD does fix it but it takes way too many liberties with changing the feel of the original (like switching the Cerberus logo with an Alliance one).

Looking forward to the finished product!

EDI's looking awesome.

Liara's boobs...look bigger? Not sure why I think that.

They always do in that scene....first time i played it i was like "Whoa, Liara's had some surgery in the last 6 months or something" - I think it's just the lighting, the way she is posed in that conversation scene, that plays tricks on the eyes.

@JeanLuc - Both are looking great, and would like to echo @SimplyNeo's observation with the dark jaggies on EDI's chest area, hope you can fix that up as it is glaringly obvious in game with the original textures. Though hearing that her entire body is a 256x256 texture kinda explains it

I did modify the other EDI mod to switch the Alliance back to Cerberus and EDI to EVA. And ended up creating a new spec/norm map in the process. Though I plan on ditching mine shortly.

EDI looks scary when she doesn't have that shiny black "outerlayer" over her more visible machine parts.

Artistic liberty. I hated the fac that:

1) Whoever did that texture spent all that time creating those wires and parts only to have them covered up by the spec map. Whats the point?

2) That a synthetic who just had a shuttle rammed into and shot looked like she just walked out of the factory like a new car. I can understand looking clean (since the sprinkler systems did turn on) but not having that extra protective layer on. Wanted her to look a little more gritty.

Glad I'm not crazy and someone else noticed it.

EDI without black looks pretty cool. The model looks more "correct" in the universe, when I first saw it I was like "how un-Mass Effect like" because of the hair and whatnot.

Hopefully one day there is a "make Kai Leng look less stupid" project.

Oh and I've got a request/suggestion for you Jean-Luc. Would it be possible for you to record yourself while working on the textures, as a show piece/tutorial. I'd really like to know how you made your textures look so good. I know know photoshop, but I just can't get my head warped around how those textures ... well ... wrap. That and.. well, a video tutorial will really help I think.

I think it's a "layering" effect.  Liara's wearing what - boob-conforming mesh, with boob-conforming armor with a jacket over that?

They can't help but look bigger.

Also, I don't think even Jean-Luc's wizardry can make Kai Leng look less stupid.

JeanLuc, I want to make a suggestion. Since Smarteck has done most of the characters textures the only thing that's missing from the game is having proper NPC textures. I think concentrating on those would be more important. I mean just look at this guy:

Just adding my voice to the chorus of appreciative players, and them what love eye-candy, Jean-Luc.

As far as textures go, and "voting" on what you "should" do next, well... I'm as opinionated as anyone:

I say you should go for quality over quantity, and that patience itself is a dying artform.

Always found it tacky to make demands when someone is doing me the favour.

I for one hope that JL continues to create his own Hi-Res Textures for ME3 squadmates, as his textures are excelent.  Nothing against Smarteck's work, but I by far prefer Jean-Lucs work.  He upgrades all parts/maps of the texture, and stays very true to the original appearance while greatly improving the quality.  So I say, JL, I love your work and I hope you keep working on the ME3 squads before moving on to something else :)
