First off, this game rocks, the lore and gameplay is awesome. that said there are a few thigns I like to see fixed:

Unlimited leveling donating materials at the Allied Supply Crates: Worst part of the game.
Unlimited Gold: Making e.g. Potent Lyrium Potions is tiresome and annoying.

Fix these issues and game would be better for it. Limit all materials one can buy, perhaps limit it to time passed or have the merchant restock at certain points in the game. Having unlimited takes away the balanced economics the game had early on.

Plz add things you think they should change or alter.

Reading through what others have posted so far, I'm gonna add some of those issues here, telling people to "just don't use it" or "just don't do it" is lame and being blunt like this will not help resolve gaming issues some have with the current game. I hope we can all agree that DA2 should rock and fix some of DA:O issues.

Tactics needs to be more customizable. The ability to tell one member of the team to stand their ground while other moves would be a great improvement.
Better endgame battle, the Archdemon was a joke compared to the toughness of other fights, especially the Brood Mother (first thought it was because of my excellent gear at this point in game, but friends and people here lead me to believe this battle is just badly designed).

for all the issues the game has you picked...those.

I love the game..but there's far more issues of much greater importance than either of them..

but to each their own I guess

I tell you what sucks about this game: The Ending. Are you kidding me? The brood mother was more diffiicult. And no I didn't had a healer with me. Templar/Champion, Templar/Reaver, Assasin/Duelist, Mage/Shapeshifter.

I agree. I killed the Archdemon in my first attempt and I only summoned the Mages.

Alistair -> Main tank (Templar/Champion)

Wynne -> Damage dealer

Morrigan -> Damage dealer

Main character -> Archer

The Archdemon would probably be pwned by the High Dragon.

The worst thing about this game is the lack of 'hide helm' options.

I believe i read there was a PC mod for it, but alas I own it on the ps3

So you want the benefits of wearing a helm without actually wearing one?

There is actually an option it's called "Don't wear one"

The issues with this game is the sub-par graphics, the constant clipping, the fact that it presents itself as "dark fantasy" yet has dwarves, elves, werewolves, orcs (darkspawn are pretty much orcs yeah), ridiculous weaponry in terms of blade shapes, handle thickness and pommels and not enough armor (most of which also looks terrible.) In other words, it's the polish and detail that sucks. Stuff like minute game faults easily fixed by mods or poorly thought-off designs are of minor consequence.

not incanting spells, they just wave their arms around like retards and pretty colors come out, very unsatisfying, something along the lines of NWN but have each spell with a unique incantation would be cool i rekon

lack of customization in terms of leveling, i understand why they have done it this way, but i miss being able to try out new and interesting builds

not telling me when i get a crit annoys me, atleast put the option into to it on like you can with enemey and party health alerts

there ar several other minor things than i dont like, but over all i really love the game, cant wait to see what they do with the sequal/game set in the DA universe

What's so wrong with being able to SEE the character you spent a lot of time creating..especially considering how completely hideous most of the helms are?

You're ok with the helmets magically disappearing during a dialogue then magically re-appearing once it's over...but you're not ok with having an option to permanently toggle this off?? ok then.

The no-helm hack simply makes it so you still get benefits of the helmet without having your character or companions faces covered by the (mostly) crap helmets Bio designed.

Case-in-point: mage condom hats.

I use the no-helm hack because I like seeing my characters faces..no other reason at all...it makes no sense to criticise someone for wanting to have the stats/benefits of a helm but not wanting to look at them because A) most helms are fugly and B) we spend a lot of time creating a look for our character but then want it hidden 99% of the time so we can't even see it? Why even bother with the robust character creator then?

What is it with you helmet people? You take off the helm when you talk (not my choice when talking to a possibly hostile foe but whatever) and when you are in combat you don't want a helm? I guess the helmet people and the total immersion freaks can have a slap fight about that one.

I'm sorry they offend your fashion sense. Maybe we should call up Hugo Boss to design clothing lines for the game. I've seen enough old suits of armor to know that helms were never fashionable - I think "bucket" was the primary inspiration for many of them.

Why fix these? You do not have to do these things, I never donated materials in my first game because, well to be honest I didn't know there were XP in there.  You find making potions tiresome and annoying and yet you apparently did it enough to find it tiresome and boring.

These two are in my opinion non-issues because it is a single player game. So you can just NOT do it and it won't bother you.

My list of problems goes like this:

1. The increasing loading times. Horrible bug.
2. The whole leveling system. It should be easier for any player to see what the tradeoffs are when choosing talents/distributing points. Particularly for rogues it is quite unclear.
3. Dex bugs. How could these not be noticed? Now daggers are fixed, but as far as I can tell, crossbows still do not even scale. This leads to...
4. Archery sucks. Scattershot is godly (and completely abused by archer trash mobs), but that's about it.
5. Lack of interesting "evil" choices and perhaps an evil tank character.
6. Extremely poor talent/attribute distribution choices for party members when you first get them to join. Zevran, for example, cannot fill the role of a lockpicker for a few levels. Morrigan just has horrible spell choices. The rest are a bit better.
7. Poor balancing between classes and specializations. For example, 2H warriors are good enough, but they ARE weaker than DW warriors. When it comes to mage talents, it's completely crazy. The whole shapeshifter line for example just sucks, no excuse, it really just plain sucks.
8. Blue mobs steal your kills. Not only is this annoying, it also makes mind control abilities pointless. You don't want to cast spells that make you miss out on XP.

Tired of writing this list now, but there's much more. The point is, and this is something a lot of people overlook: I would not bother to complain if I did NOT like the game. It's a great game, therefore I play it even though I disagree with a lot of design decisions and even though there are some annoying bugs.

Crossbows are now (since 1.02) set to use DEX for the modifier value.  However, the column in the data file that tells it apply x percent (in this case, it should be 1, as in 100%) was set to zero, so no modifier value is getting applied.  While we await an official patch, this project fixes that one issue for PC users.

http://social.biowar...ct/669/#details

If you're running 1.02 or 1.02a, you want just the itemstats_xbowfix.gda file from that project.

If you're running 1.0x then you want the other file in that project (which fixes the pre-patch daggers, as well as the crossbows).

That project makes no other changes.  It just turns on the dex modifier for the relevant weapon types.

I do not know the status of this issue for the console platforms.

For the larger topic here, my biggest current non-technical or bug-related issue has to do with using Archery as a primary weapon and talent set. I find it lacks, and feel like I'm gimping my rogue and warrior characters by not focusing on melee talents instead.  It's not even really a 'power' issue.  I just don't find Archery fun as currently implemented, and don't like giving up talent options because Rogue and Warrior really shine more as melee classes than as ranged classes.

Honestly, the biggest bug that still annoys me is that they haven't fixed Sten not having two specialization points. I love the Sten, but without that second point he kind of starts of fall behind later in the game.

Yes, that is a bug, Bioware's representatives have said so here on the forums.

Dragon Age surely has it's flaws but the rest of the game is so great that I'm willing to overlook them. There's one thing that really bothers me though: unrealistic combat. Melee enemies can hit you from a distance. See this screenshot for an example:

Yeah, unlike most RPG's these days once an NPC in DA:O starts an attack it WILL hit you regardless of if you run several miles away.

I agree...especially in the larger battles things get pretty disjointed. I'm not sure I'd enjoy playing anything except mage. I started off playing rogue but that seemed a bit slow. I'm playing a DW warrior when I am not playing my mage, but that seems slow so far as well...

Those are almost funny, same thing happens if the Ogre charges at you. You can try and move but it still runs you over.

I will say that a small annoyance is that we've got "Move Freely" and "Hold" but I want a "Follow Me" command. There are a lot of moments when a tactical withdraw would be useful but you can't flee any battle because you have to move your people one person at a time.

I wish there was a following distance setting (close, medium and long range) in the tactics menu. Sometimes when you enter a room your entire party gets hit by a Fireball and your ranged attackers (archers/mages) are never at a good position (they're standing right next to the tank).

true, I would like to add the wish for a tactical option to allow some characters to move and forbid it for others. everyone or no one like it's now is quite bad.

Nope. Not at all. Orcs are humanoids and they have a culture. You might think LotR orcs, but that was only how they where in the movie, not in the books.

It's quite simple: the OP forgot the R in Dragon when they typed out the thread's title.
