Diablo II:LOD & DA:O

torchlight is made by the old Blizzard North people, same ones that made Diablo I & II

Just wanted to say thanks publicly to ct1615. I tried the game out, then bought it!
For 20 bucks it sure is a fun way to get my Diablo fix going while waiting for the vaporware that is D:III

I love running around with dual pistols and the shadow armor going :bandit:

It's currently only $10 on Steam as the weekend deal.

Thanks, but I'd rather spend an extra 10 bucks than have Steam on my system :))

The best games I played this year were easily Braid and Knights of the Old Republic. As for releases this year, Braid and Dragon Age: Origins.

Torchlight

and

Plants vs. Zombies

DA is fine game also but the other two help prove you don't need a huge budget (or expensive game) to make an addictive game.

DA would be #3

I tried the demos for both but didn't find them anything special. Both are well done and if you do like whatever it is that Diablo has I can see torchlight might appeal.

As for budget, that's a silly assertion. Of course the majority of great games are going to be low budget ones as  there are so many more of them to begin with. Big budget games exist because they're usually a much safer bet and are much more unlikely to have annoying controls or stupid design decisions (except in a few areas that they seem blind to, like difficulty)
