So I've noticed that with the popularity of DA:O that there have been increasing numbers of trolls in the Bioware social forums.

I just thought I'd point out that this is exactly the kind of experience Bioware needs to learn how to manage a community based around a successful MMORPG.

I can only hope that the tips and tricks the moderators pick up here can be migrated and applied to the SW:TOR forums prior to game release (as those forums are already becoming overrun with trolls and idiots).

I spy a troll whose name is...ANDY!

*snickers*

The increase in population of these forums might be attributed to the closing of forums on the old BioWare site (such as the off topic forum). Havn't seen many trolls, just a select few rude peoples

The SW:ToR forums were so horrible on the day of opening that I never returned after trying to post sensible posts once or twice and just getting ignored.

yea they are pretty bad. i posted there for a while, but eventually gave up. i think they need to be cleaned up a good bit before SWTOR release, or the community will suck royally.

Mostly different groups of people, I believe.  Huh.  I guess I'd have to go to the other forums to check....

Naahhhhh.

This sounds soooo much like a few discussions that were the LA KoTOR boards vs. Bioware's.

With such poor forum software is it any wonder nobody has the patience to have proper discussions and most posts are just one-liners?

Increase the text size, get rid of the erratic editing box and prune all the nonsense from the top of the page and the community will improve on it's own.

p.s. This is a rewrite of a first post that got trashed because I accidentally clicked in the search box at the top of the page, which redirected me for some reason.

I just stayed away from those forums in the first place.

I added that in here. If you click in the search field and then click outside it again, it'll still take you to the search page.

speaking as an old forum junkie (from circa y2k), this is the same vBulletin forum software that has been around since the dawn of internet forums.

personally, i don't see any problems with vBulletin. it's simple, it's generally reliable, and anyone who's been using it for any period of time knows all the tricks.
