Also is immersion such a holy grail that 5 minutes to buy DLC effects the rest of the game? That seems abit childish to me.

I think this game is okay; it's no BG or BG2, but okay. What really caught me off guard however is the constant push to buy more of it. For instance, the quests that appear normal, until you try them and realize you have to buy them sucked enough, but now those quests are being advertised when I load the game. I mean every time I load the game EA is using my computer to adverstise more "premium content". No thanks.
I haven't finished the game yet, but I will. Probably won't be buying another Bioware game though, which is sad to say since I enjoyed the Baldur's Gate series so much (and for so many replays).
That's it. Cheers and happy holidays!
I don't think they are using your pc to advertise their products.
I think they are letting you know that if you want, there is more content for Dragon Age in case you'd like to buy and play.
If they used your pc to announce other EA games, like Mass Effect or stuff like that, then yeah, you could have a reason to be angry at them.
You don't see this "add" unless you speak to the quest givers or finish the game and load the epilogue. It's not that they have a huge loading screen with the EA logo saying "BUY BUY BUY".

Is this a new thing? I haven't seen any blatent advertising on my game no more than the premium module adverts for NWN. I believe even BG2 had loading screen blerbs for ToB and NWN.

Don't mess with a nerd and fantasy! Honestly he's just an annoying npc to have, and if you don't do and download it he will never leave so I can see why it would be annoying.

There are ways to bypass the retarded 100$ "router" you can just use a hard line connection from your modem or computer/laptop. I like shale a lot, one of my favorite characters in that regard yes it was worth it. Wardens keep is okay.
I'm probably going to wait until they release a bunch of these DLC in some sort of bundle.
Don't like purchasing content as soon as it comes out. Bugs and all.

When you buy a novel, do you rip out the advertisements for the author's other books because you find them intrusive? Levi's pretty easy to ignore. Consider this a good exercise in:
1.) Choosing your battles
2.) Not letting little things get to you

It ain't over until the fat lady sings, and threads have been saved from the abyss before. This happens to be the only outright mistake that I feel was made with this game -- inventory systems, skill usage, sandbox vs. area based, perma-death vs auto-rez... all of that's extremely subjective -- and even though it's a minor thing, I'd rather not see them explore this route any further.AntiChri5 wrote...
Wow. Somene still believes this thread can be saved from ZM? It will be locked any minute now.
Loading screens... that's fine. Game launchers... cool. The Downloadable Content tab under options menu... all good. Just keep the story and the software distinct, so far as I'm concerned. Quests that can't be fulfilled cluttering up my journal, NPCs hawking real-life content... I don't want anything to do with that unless the game itself is tongue-in-cheek enough to support it.
Besides... I'm an optimist.

It doesn't do anything about removing the two DLC Premium Content quest log entries, afaik.
Antigone: It's got zip to do with being an adult or some tremendous insight only you and other 'adults' have about life lessons and Rolling Stone song lyrics. As an adult, the concept of "logical fallacy" shouldn't go too far over your head.

I personally love the idea of content-additions to single-player RPG games in bite-sized increments rather than waiting maybe an year or more for "Expansions."

And the guy in camp is not even close to how bad advertising was in Fable II. Albeit that is slightly irritating.

Aesir, your argument is that the banner ad should be "enough" based on your own dislike of the in-game advertising. My encounter with the in-game advertising (Levi specifically) was what persuaded me to download the extra content. I hadn't spent much time online and so hadn't been exposed to any other advertising for it. The fact that I had a guy right there in camp blending the new content into the rest of the game for me persuaded me to download Warden's Keep then, and not at some later, unspecified date (which, for some people, would turn into 'never.') I couldn't even tell you what the new banner ad says: it's gone from my screen so fast it might as well not even be there, and I've been exposed to so many banners that I'm programmed to ignore them anyway. So when you say that the banner ad should be enough, you're saying that EA should ignore the added revenue generated by people like me who are more apt to pay attention to added content presented (in my opinion, tastefully and originally) in-game? If it was your business, would you ignore the added revenue potential? I, for one, have been jonsing for a Baldur's Gate-esque single player RPG for 8 years, and I hope that Bioware and EA find this profitable enough to give me another sooner than 2018. If that means that there's a man with an exclamation point over his head in my Camp, I can live with that!
Levi and the collapsible Quest bar in your journal are incredibly insignificant portions of the game, and easily ignorable. They don't shout at you, they don't interrupt your game play, and ignoring them has no in-game ramifications. They only stand out because you choose to be upset by them. I didn't do Warden's Keep till well into my first play through, and never once did Levi and his glowing exclamation point interfere with my enjoyment of the game. I didn't let it. And while it's your right to get upset over it, I have yet to see a compelling argument for why you would.
