That's a bit unrealistic, I think. Odds are higher to find heterosexual relations, this should be reflected ingame.

Yes, the game should reflect the real life dating scene perfectly...even for heterosexual romances.

Unfortunately, all three games fall horribly short of this.

Odds are high that in real life, you will find that people have various standards (looks, morality, personality, etc.) that inform who they will date/have sex with/etc.

ME LIs don't care none 'bout that stuff.

I honestly find all of the romances to be subpar in some form.  Thats not including the sex scenes, which were all terribly done.

In a game in which you fly around the universe battling giant space cockroaches.

Just wait another, like what, 200 years? Tell your grandgrandchildren to tell my grandgrandchildren again it's unrealistic:D

And whose to say in 200 years there won't be more bisexual people? Social taboos decrease, more openness in future society about sexuality. Barriers being broken. No subconcious guilt/wall....

If you think there are fewer social taboos today than 200 years ago, you need to read a history book.  Hell, look up the stuff people used to do 2000 years ago...  That stuff ebbs and flows.

I would generally agree with you, however, in my opinion, people who are against SS relationships are either; idiots, trolls, uneducated or misinformed.

Thats cool, because I am none of the above.

I don't like S/S, that doesn't mean I bash people who do.

In game, IRL or both??

An hence, "in my opinion".

Both.

You can dislike something without hating it or the people that do it...

And why do you dislike it??

I just don't like guy/guy girl/girl.

Let me shoot right back at you, why do you like it?

This is getting off topic though...

But we'll all have been destroyed by the giant squid god living on the ocean floor long before that. :P

The real question is not that if you like it or not... but

Are you opposed for same sex romance options to be present to catter to someone that is not you? and why?

It's likely it will be completely broken.  Its just that the point of the game is not to emphasize the romantic value, its to ephasize everyone, of every gender, species, or whatever orientation, working together to stop the Reapers.

I entertain no delusions. I'm just saying that same sex will be the next taboo broken. We've already broken how many within the past 100 years? Women working, blacks marrying whites...sex before marriage....list goes on and on and on. :D

I like it because my brain is hard-wired to find other men extremely attractive and creates a desire to have them inside me. Why do you ask?

Let me be clear. I am fine with S/S options in game. But I don't like the idea of post release content that adds a character to the other shep just for the sake of having more bi options. Leave them be.

It's been proven time and time again over the past few years that no, we probably can't.

Or at least, some people can't. But those people happen to be the loudest.

Eh, the M/M taboo is broken and reestablished all the time.  You're just in the wrong cycle, well the end of it anyways, for your orientation.

Well, if your bar is set to "real life" romance, then yeah, these ones will fail.

But they all fail so it's not fair to single out s/s ones.

I don't like m/f romances in any form in any media...and that's fine...some don't like the s/s stuff and that's fine too.

That is different from wanting s/s romance removed from the game so others can't do them....I don't know if you fall into this category but those are the people I have issues with.

As much as I could do away with m/f romance entirely from my game, I don't care if they are there for others b/c I can just avoid them....as long as I have the same options to do a romance I would like.  If not, then it gets kinda annoying.

People got angry over it ?

Meh, everyone's gotta do what makes them most comfortable.
It's common sight here for years. There are times when I pass a city hall and an S/S couple just got maried. No big deal.

Then again, I think we are the first country to introduce S/S marriage some 15 years ago or so. I'm not sure.

Mature tends to be unlikely, but falls into the 'political' realm which isn't allowed here.

*sigh* read my previous post.

I am not bothered at all by the presence of S/S romance in game, I may not like it, but I don't want it removed. I just don't want them adding or changing romance options after the game is released. I do support extra romance content for all options.

And I think the biggest difference between this cycle and previous ones is just the technology. We have this huge intercontinental technology like the internet. We're sharing ideas at a faster pace then ever. There more people then ever. I honestly don't think we can ever go BACK to where it was before. What would cause us to go back?

Can't be religious upsurgence - even the religions are pretty much tickering on this issue. I know the Catholic church is split on this though the anti-homosexual part is the more vocal.

Doesn't make anyone else right, it shows my disdain that such a stupid response came forth.  There were no reaon sfor SS relationships to be in ME3.  It was fanpanning, much like Tali being a squadmate, much like the EC having that rediculous Harbinger Tea Party for Normandy, or the Refusal ending being so contrived into a glorified game over for people who didn't like being handed another instant win button.

Or how about the reason that some people are gay so there's no sensible reason not to have some characters who are? Criticisms about the number are possibly valid, the existence of them is not. FWIW Tali being a squadmate, one of the characters who had been with Shepard from the start, was also entirely reasonable and not fan service; if anything Wrex should be feeling a bit left out. The Harbinger comment makes sense, not really sure what you mean about Refusal (IMO it's what you should've got for very low EMS).

That's as much of a valid response of trying to put action mode in for new people.  Like how much of the game changes if you have most of the people in ME2 dead.

It was actually planned some where early or mid development that Tali wouldn't rejoin you as a squadmate (more or less in the air).  It was obviously added in, along with her Admiral status, or her return to the fleet from exile, as pure fanpanning, especially when she wasn't needed in the slightest, minus Peace.

Refusal was the result of many people complaining about the three choices presented by one they view as an enemy you can't trust.  They disliked how they didn't get the oppertunity to ask about the Crucible, or why you suddenly had to agree with it to end the game.  So, it was added to appease a small portion of the fanbase.  It is an overglorified game over ending to sate people's pride.

Wrex was feeling left out, but he has larger problems.  Tali should have stuck to her duties with her fleet.  There is a myriad amount of options and pathways they could have elaborated by making temporary characters, but they didn't.  Also, didn't Wrex deploy to the front lines on Palaven?
