Wait... wasn't the point that you wanted the game to be more 'realistic'?

I'm sorry, but my neighbor is a lizard-man and he's like a real human underneath all those scales.

I don't see a problem here.

I'm also dating a hot blue mono-gendered woman who's sitting on my lap as I type.

A blue, monogendered woman? That's a contradiction in terms.

Monogender simply means one gender though. And all Codex entries clearly state Asari are female.

Liara states in ME1 that using the terms male and female within the Asari society does not make sense since it's a monogendered species. By definition gender is defined by the size of the gametes (if I recall wikipedia correctly). Pointless with a monogendered species. Codex entries state them as female, but that's just another inconsistency. They look more like human females than human males, but they really are neither. Applying these categories to the Asari is like comparing the size of two complex numbers. It simply can't be done.

monogender=/=A sexual

Monogender means one gender and in this case that gender is female

we have all female speices of animals on earth like the new mexico whiptail lizard

These animals aren't reproducing based on a single gender, or randomly turning into the opposite sex because of the lack of diversity. (all females)  Asari are Monogender, and not only that, they don't need sexual contact to reproduce.  A fact more fascinating then the entire species being femalish.

In general? No idea, I tend to ignore threads about that, either for, or against. As a player, I'm happy to get more options, even if I end up not choosing them, and that's it. I'm glad for the people who felt excluded, but that's purely on a conceptual, general level. As I said, personally, I really don't care one way or the other.

Whatever floats your boat!!

I love this game on this aspect! It's a personal thing and the options are there. I played an unfaithful "douche bag" heterosexual male renegade Shepard on one of my playthrough and a faithful paragon female Shepard that fell in love with Liara (many may consider this as being S/S but I don't care because I don't think Asari work that way...)

After my paragon playthrough, I realized that no matter if I played a male or female character in a third playthrough, I would choose Liara and be faithful to her as a favorite option... Go figure!

The definition of a same sex relationship is a relationship where the people taking part in it are, you guessed it, the same sex.

Femshep is female. Asari are female. LiaraxFemshep is a S/S romance because, no matter what you say, femshep would only be attracted to liara's body if she was a lesbian, and so you can play a lesbian femshep but not a gay broshep in the first 2 games

I can agree to a certain point with you... Asari look like women.

But there is the fact that intercourse is not necessairy for them to enjoy or even reproduce. It's possible, but unnessessary. Bioware creators would be better placed than I am to say if Asari even get a physical orgasm although I can see them giving in to such practice to satisfy a partner from another races as a demonstration of love and abandon if need may be...

As you know, Asari mate with a form of telepathic mending... A psyonic "high" shared by both partners! It's all the advantages of sex without the "sloppy mecanical aspect" of it. This, in it self, goes beyond physical attraction. It becomes a spiritual one. If what I understand about Asari is correct, nothing needs to go "in" or to be "sprayed" anywhere. This puts things in a different perspective. Bioware? Feel free to comment on this... Clarification is always appreciated!

Mono gendered = One gender not NO Gender. So it is an ALL FEMALE race... please apply the termns correctly.

You should read about what parthenogenesis (Yes Asari reproduce through parthenogenesis, so this is very relevant here) is, because  it happens on some all female species... Natures is interesting like that.

yeah I mean there was some light hearted ribbing on the inter webs that soon died down when they realized no one cared. And not a f*ck was given since. People who complain about immersion just don't have a valid point. They only think it's breaking their immersion because to them gay people live on another planet and don't talk to "real" people.

One of my best friends is gay.  My other good friend's brother is gay, and my girlfriend is bi.  It's amazing how narrow your own opinions fill into the same gap you claim people are against you.

This is no worse then how Cortez's shower body is a copypasta of Sheploo.  This is no different then the female being a carbon copy of the male running.  This is why I consider it immersion breaking, because they did so much uneeded cutting to try and fanpan to everyone.

Orly?

then how does a characters sexuality break your immersion

Corner cutting on the visual fx happened all over the game nothing at ALL to do with the presence or abscence of ss romance

Apparently gaying up characters is the same as turning Transformers into humans or cats - http://comments.devi...9270/2647018185 (poster does not like the idea of krogan lesbians)

do tell.

Both Shepards are Heterosexual in both games.  So is Kaidan, and Liara is a member of a single, mono-gendered race which can breed with just about every sapient species.  In ME3, Shepard and Kaidan now openly, and randomly state in the air about accepting each other.  Even turning Kaidan down is a "Not interested in a relationship" instead of a "Sorry, you're not my type" which you can gracefully pull with Cortez.  That, is character breaking immersion.

My first post in this mess explained that I don't care about it, but the point stands they broke their own characters out of linearity for no reason but to appease a small portion of the fan base for tertiary romance plots.  Its easily ignorable, but the fact its there is a worthless debate that only you seem to be offended for.

I'd say Cortez and Traynor were handled really well, though Kaidan hitting on you was kind of awkward. He reminded me of Anders in DA2

Shepard is not a pre-determined character. How can one break his/her character when it is in the hands of the player to create said character?

Op, its like stamp collecting, I know people do it. Its just not my thing, and I really don't want to hear people go on and on about it (much like BioWare can't seem to shut up about how great they are for it).

Most everyone seemed okay with it. Even the people who weren't were generally quiet about their opinion, as most people don't WANT to look like a bigot.

My Shepard (really 75% of all my Sheps) would like to have a word with you...

It just so happens that my FemShep is 100% gay, ever was, ever will be!

She fell for Liara, certainly not just for her looks, my Sheppy likes her women smart and sassy. But would Liara have certain other physical traits...well, I guess "she" would have taken Garrus´ place as my FemSheps best friend. Sorry, that´s just how it works...I have absolutely NO idea what´s so hard to comprehend about that for some people...mono-gendered or not...

As for Kaidan. He once told a story about being interested in a girl. Just because he doesn´t mention any crushes on boys does not make him straight! His orientation was not once stated in the game...maybe...and I´m going out on a limb here...because in an universe where interspecies relationships seem to be not the least unusual, no one really gives a crap about some humans sexual orientation. Not like in our little corner of the galaxy where everyone and their mother have to butt into everyone elses business and people argue threadpage over threadpage about things that might not even concern them just for the sake of arguing.

The only characters who´s sexual orientations are clear because of their in-game statements are Traynor (gay) because she tells MaleShep off and Jack (bi) as she speaks to Shep about former "relationships" and the "...as for boyfriend or girlfriend..."-comment.
Jack not being available for FemShep is in my opinion more immersion breaking than Kaidan´s alleged "change" could ever be!

That´s my two cents and I´m not going to argue about it further! :P
