I'm just curious if the character creator has inspired anyone else with a new character idea. I was messing around with a female character, wanting to try to make something with the eye shadow turned all the way up (just to see what it would look like) and while messing with the portrait options for the character, I ended up with her kind of looking down her nose with this superior look on her face (this one ) and now I'm wanting to play this human female mage who has this really superior attitude, looking down on all the mundanes, and even those elves who like to play around with their minor magical abilities, when everyone knows they have no use other than serving their betters.

So...as anyone else been inspired to play a certain kind of character from messing around with the character creator?

At least i can say that my iron determination to play a dwarf noble first is faltering. Most character concepts look awesome.

But i've got a fully rolled out character concept and everything for this guy on the left here, so it'll probably still be him. Who's second will be a harder decision than i first thought, though

I am bemused by the ability to create my own portrait, but I didn't feel a need to "change my plans" from around a year ago. The only thing that was changed from my usual play-through is that I replaced humans with dwarves. I really, really like these DAO dwarves.

For my first character not really, I've made my character in my image as I planned all along... though perhaps my hair is a bit better and my nose not quite so big. Suprisingly good likeness I managed considering the relatively low tweakability - I must have a really generic face, hehehe!

My second character though... loving the facial tatoos, so will be making a woad warrior elf next. A nice, violent berzerker with no shirt. He likes the feel of warm, fresh blood on his skin... plus it does wonders for his complexion.

Biggest limiting factor for me are the voices - most I'm really not too sure about, so looks like it'll be suave for all my elves and cocky for all my humans. The others just sound a bit wrong, somehow.

I generally play at least one elf mage and one mage/rogue, so that hasn't changed here.

What did surprise me is that I decided to make a human warrior. Never do that, but it seemed to be an interesting concept. Goody-goody, but very, very sheltered human noble decides to take up the sword and "do what's right", or at least, what she thinks is right. In for some rude awakenings.

I didn't mean to imply changing initial playthroughs. My first playthrough is still going to be with that elf over there on the left, my second with my noble dwarf warrior. Just thought it was interesting that I was messing around with the CC and somehow this whole character seemed to come together in my head just from messing with the way she looks. Maybe she'll be my third (and token "evil") playthrough.

It's made me re-think my original plan of human rogue. I think I'll use my human as a mage shapeshifter so I don't waste an opportunity to see other origins. I was going to make an elf mage second, but that screws up their origin. I'm not interested in human noble, which is what my rogue was. I should have realized this before the creator, but it opened my eyes.

Also, surprisingly I enjoy the tat options. I was going to pass on them.

Definitely. I was inspired to find new looks for all my characters, tried pretty hard not to have any of them look alike, not to let my commoners look too fancy or too well-fed. I've made 12 characters + a little experiment trying to make the city elf origin poster elf, my album being in my signature.

Honestly, I was inspired for the first time to make male characters... most of the time I don't bother, because I don't really enjoy playing the opposite gender from me, but this time I did. I made everything from a goofy charmer of a dwarf to a cold blooded mage and I am actually really excited to play them. Especially Darien, he be smexy. :3

Actually, I'm really liking the characters I am making and what can be made.

I still will start with the Human Mage, but might end up playing the Dwarf commoner next.

Yep, I ended up with her after trying to create a shy, energetic warrior. She turned out completely different that what I was aiming for. See, Weyona is a  vindictive, callous character who has a bit of a God complex. I can see her slaughtering for fun instead of out of duty.

I love her, the angle of the portrait really does her justice.  Very intense.

She looks awesome! Image IPB I think she could definitely seem the kind of character that could be energetic like ya wanted, & maybe have some tomboy personality to hide an inner shyness at heart! Image IPB

You make a really good point about her being energetic. It will just be a different type from the original plan of her being excited to help others.

I'm definitely loving the Character Creator for the purpose of creating module NPCs. Much better than the old days of messing around with expressionless pasted-on pixellated faces from NWN1. for DA:O here, not only can you have a unique look, but also add character and personality by a touch here and a tweak there. Needless to say this represents a whole new milestone for modding. I'm overjoyed.

well, before the CC I was pretty sure I would play a dalish elf first, now I'm leaning towards female human noble, mostly because I loved the character I created and human extra points really fits a warrior.

It also made me think a lot about their personalities, even though I don't usually roleplay as a character, but as myself. Guess it's all this waiting time.

Oh I had decided to initially play a warrior probably human but the background of a city elf is calling to me and now I am contemplating maybe using this character I have currently. My only gripe is that I like to play dark skinned characters being dark skinned myself, but I have found a few concepts that look okay not as good as my Commander Shepherd but I am getting there.

I will probably settle with a rogue turned assassin concept, but I might still go the more heroic noble warrior route, probably human or elf. I like the look of the dwarves though and I will have to play one eventually.

If your avatar portrait is the aforementioned badass dwarf, I think he looks wise, like the kinda person that could be the master of an academy training the next generations of warriors! Image IPB
