Why is N7 ranking such a volatile subject? Death threat, angry messages, and insults...

I've gotten my share of angry messages and insults just because people assume things because of my high ranking. The only reason it's so high is because I enjoyed the leveling system and had nothing better to do except level my characters.
N7 ranking breeds nothing but assumptions. Some will say "high" N7 ranking will be elitist snobs while at the same time, those "high" ranking will say the ones with "low" ranking are just inept players not worthy of playing with them. No one side is better than the other.
I've seen plenty of people say, "N7 ranking doesn't mean anything. Don't judge by it." Only to turn around and talk about how bad people with high N7 ranking are. The hypocrisy is laughable.
I just have the mentality to go by loadout and character choice only. I don't look at N7 ranking often. I'm curious as to how many other forum members do this.
Sorry for the rant. I just want to understand the irrationality some have.
PS: I wasn't calling anyone particular out. So if you felt that I did, I apologize. That was not my intention.

If you're cool it doesn't matter if you're N7 16 or N7 9001
If you're a dick, I'll call you a dick.

You got a death threat? That's both hilarious and disturbing at the same time.
Indeed, would you care to share the context and wording? I am certainly interested in seeing that, if only for the comedy value.

On another note: I look at both N7 and loadout, especially weapon evolution.
N7 ranking of 115 with a Cerberus Harrier IV and a Piranah VI on a Destroyer will not get any kicks from me.
...an N7 ranking of 35 with Matis I and Mattock I equipped on a caster class will get kicked or I'll just leave the lobby, most likely.

But it definally means something when you enter a u/u/g or any platinum lobby.
I will kick whose N7 rank under 200 in platinum for sure.

I'm on Xbox (Go figure). I kicked him after he utterly and totally sucked in a match. He then started calling me out about what a big tough guy I am. It quickly devolved to the point where he said he would kill me. He saw that I lived in Alaska and eerily guessed that I lived in Anchorage saying that he could get there. I actually got a little unnerved and blocked communications and reported him.
While I know that he probably wouldn't have acted on it. It did freak me out a little that he perfectly guessed where I lived.

Silly that sometimes I'm kicked because I'm too low N7 in some Gold PUGs.
But I really wanna see that death threat...

Well, there's only like 2 cities in Alaska, right? Anchorage and Juneau. I can't think of any others.theillusiveman11 wrote...

You never know.
Seriously, there are news stories about this sort of crap. Some people are just one disconnect away from losing it.

Idiot. You're obviously supposed to level up in gold and platinum. Why else would those modes give the most experience. Bronze is for N7 1000+ only.OperatingWookie wrote...
I got kicked from bronze for being too low of a level.

There's quite a few. I used to live in a remote town. Then Fairbanks, then Anchorage. And now somewhere else. It was just weird that he guessed.

Bronze? Those people must be terrible players at the least or maybe they were waiting on a friend.OperatingWookie wrote...

Oh I see you point, seems not everyone in the community with a standard moral level.
How could you kick a player in Bronze? Where else could they go?
This is bronze and this is the place suppose to train people's combat skills.
I never kick people in bronze even he/she is totoally new with N7 rank 1 , actually I never care about squad member's rank or level.
Because actually I don't need them at all. I always start a bronze public lobby on my own, if someone join after few waves, of course I don't mind carry people.
I think Kick option should not be allowed in any bronze lobby.

Im the same way...On ps3 I've come across several high N7s other than myself who are D-Bags and seem to think they are above others just because of N7...There are VERY few who live up to the hype

My xbox360 rank is 690 (should be like 1000+ but I don't promote)
My ps3 rank is like 80ish (I wreck gold)
I don't go by N7 Rank anymore, if its gold and you suck I can still carry the team if need be.
