Honestly, it doesn't say much, but I wouldn't say it's completely meaningless. Very generally speaking, I've had better luck with team mates with a higher ranking. (Edit: meaning over ~300) There are many exceptions, of course and I wouldn't kick anyone based on N7 rank (the exception being someone with an N7 below 20 on Gold).

People that kick in bronze seem to think BioWare also introduced Tinfoil difficulty in Earth DLC ...... I want my Tinfoil diffficulty that only does Waves 1 - 3 and rewards a maximum of 1000 credits!A MIAOW wrote...

Oh I see you point, seems not everyone in the community with a standard moral level.
How could you kick a player in Bronze? Where else could they go?
This is bronze and this is the place suppose to train people's combat skills.
I never kick people in bronze even he/she is totoally new with N7 rank 1 , actually I never care about squad member's rank or level.
Because actually I don't need them at all. I always start a bronze public lobby on my own, if someone after few waves, of course I don't mind carry people.
I think Kick option should not be allowed in any bronze lobby.

I've seen plenty of people say, "N7 ranking doesn't mean anything. Don't judge by it." Only to turn around and talk about how bad people with high N7 ranking are. The hypocrisy is laughable.
The thing with high N7 ranking is that it only shows that they spend a lot of time promoting characters.
It could mean they're simply not trying to learn how to exploit a level 20 character to the fullest.
It could mean that they're only promoting through Bronze and not really learning the ropes.
It could be that they could have been playing the game solely to boost their N7 levels.
There are countless implications that a high N7 can portray that reflects on players poorly. I just play the game and judge on an individual basis, but I do understand where they're coming from. When you bump into a player with a high N7 and plays an absolutely terrible game, it distorts the concept that a high N7 rank equates to competence rather badly.
Bad apple spoils the rest and whatnot. And with that said, I hope the person who sent the death threat to you gets a boot to the head.

The fact that it was used as the basis of threats or other aggressive behavior is proof of this. Immature players feel that numbers matter more than how these numbers were brought up. So mess up their numbers. If they are on Xbox, give them negative feedback for quitting early. It drives them nuts and is anonymous, as it lowers their ratings.
For straight up death threats Xbox live has a playyer reporting system that SHOULD be used for serious things of that matter.

Huh, well put.
Also it didn't ruin the game at all for me. One angry person in a sea of sensible people is to be expected.

Only reason to kick anyone off a bronze match is if 3 guys are ready to go and the 4th doesn't respond to calls / more then 3 mins "afk".
Recently just kicked someone dicking around while 3 of us were ready. He kept changing characters, switching weapons, modding weapons, switch back to another class, switch weapons again, hit ready, but 2 seconds in, decided to swich back to the original class, do weapons again, then ping pong between a few classes. Think we all waited for 5mins while this guy went through this BS before we kicked him.

At least console kiddies can't get aimbots. I'd much rather have to deal with console kiddies then PC kiddies.

Why do people make N7 such a big deal? I've gotten a legitimate death threat because of my N7 ranking. For me it became an unnecessarily important subject. Why do people put so much stock into ranking? Is it really that important to some of you?
I've gotten my share of angry messages and insults just because people assume things because of my high ranking. The only reason it's so high is because I enjoyed the leveling system and had nothing better to do except level my characters.
N7 ranking breeds nothing but assumptions. Some will say "high" N7 ranking will be elitist snobs while at the same time, those "high" ranking will say the ones with "low" ranking are just inept players not worthy of playing with them. No one side is better than the other.
I've seen plenty of people say, "N7 ranking doesn't mean anything. Don't judge by it." Only to turn around and talk about how bad people with high N7 ranking are. The hypocrisy is laughable.
I just have the mentality to go by loadout and character choice only. I don't look at N7 ranking often. I'm curious as to how many other forum members do this.
Sorry for the rant. I just want to understand the irrationality some have.
PS: I wasn't calling anyone particular out. So if you felt that I did, I apologize. That was not my intention.
Is there such a thing as an illegitimate death threat?

N7 ranking is totoally meaningless on Bronze and Silver.
But it definally means something when you enter a u/u/g or any platinum lobby.
I will kick whose N7 rank under 200 in platinum for sure.
The other day I was farming Platinum with my usual group, and we pugged one spot and got an N7 of 120. He had no trouble keeping up with our ~15 min farm runs on Reaper Glacier. The dude was rocking a Typhoon III and had more UR unlocks than I do.
My N7 is 300, and the only reason it's over 120 is because of the promoting events, for which I promoted just enough to get the personal goals. Never have I promoted another character for any reason, and I never will. I like having the versatility of hopping on my Demolisher, then back to my Adept or ex-Cerb Vanguard, then over to my GI, and finally back over to the Human Soldier or Destroyer.
If you chain-promote you hurt only yourself; you are forced to go back to easier difficulties (so you won't have the credit income you otherwise might), farming easy enemies for easy XP which blunts your skills to deal with enemies on harder difficulties. Furthermore, you can't just swap to another toon for the benefit of the group's comp. Less credits, less unlocks, less skill. Not hard to figure out.
Respec cards are NOT that uncommon folks. This is not an excuse. Spec carefully, don't horde Respec cards so you keep getting them (keep them under 3), max all your classes and start progressing through harder difficulties - which will give you more credits to spend on PSPs, so you get more respec cards / mods / gear, so you can progress easier.
That's how you play this game. N7 rating has exactly nothing to do with it, and in fact N7 rating is counterproductive for optimal play.

While I know that he probably wouldn't have acted on it. It did freak me out a little that he perfectly guessed where I lived.

I hate when players make assumptions about the personality of high N7 people. I'm not super-high (around 1800 I think), but plenty seem to think so. Having a high N7 level doesn't mean you're an elitist ******; I have no illusions about my level of skill. I know I'm okay at the game, and I know there are plenty of people with lower N7 rankings that are much, much better.
So yeah... feel your pain, OP. Not to the same degree, but I am annoyed at players giving me **** about it in lobbies.
