Indeed, would you care to share the context and wording? I am certainly interested in seeing that, if only for the comedy value.

I'm on Xbox (Go figure). I kicked him after he utterly and totally sucked in a match. He then started calling me out about what a big tough guy I am. It quickly devolved to the point where he said he would kill me. He saw that I lived in Alaska and eerily guessed that I lived in Anchorage saying that he could get there. I actually got a little unnerved and blocked communications and reported him.
While I know that he probably wouldn't have acted on it. It did freak me out a little that he perfectly guessed where I lived.

Death threats are illegal in most states, you should report him to the police.

Well that was probably not too much of a stretch since Anchorage contains the largest portion of population in Alaska Image IPB

Glad you reported him though. That was very inappropriate. Getting bumped from a game is a *meh* thing. You may be good and still get bumped if they don't like your build. It is pretty subjective. Plus we all 'suck' sometimes.Image IPB Nothing to get upset over.

This sounds like an xbox360 problem. PC players are way more tolerant of low N7 and generally don't talk much, nor do they send hostile messages...

Seriously, why is it that all the obnoxious people tend to always be XBL players?

N7 ranking is totoally meaningless on Bronze and Silver.

But it definally means something when you enter a u/u/g or any platinum lobby.

I will kick whose N7 rank under 200 in platinum for sure.

Spoken like a true retard. Should try looking at their loadout and not their n7, some people just don't promote. I don't usually unless I can't get any respec cards.

This is because those people doesn't carry the same thinking logic with me.

Of course N7 doesn't equal the actual play time and experience.

But for those people never promoted, they play safe all the time, definally they miss something maybe they just don't know.

I promoted because I hope to change another way play, and test my limitation once and once again ( try to win gold with level 10, level 5 then level 1)...This is really interesting to push your own limitation, very chanllegable.

Now I can win platinum at level 6 using some particular classes with familar squad.

If you use respec cards only, you won't have such type of experience.

I kick them not because I think they are weak, just because I don't like those person who doesn't take any risk.

Why do people make N7 such a big deal? I've gotten a legitimate death threat because of my N7 ranking. For me it became an unnecessarily important subject. Why do people put so much stock into ranking? Is it really that important to some of you?
I've gotten my share of angry messages and insults just because people assume things because of my high ranking. The only reason it's so high is because I enjoyed the leveling system and had nothing better to do except level my characters.
N7 ranking breeds nothing but assumptions. Some will say "high" N7 ranking will be elitist snobs while at the same time, those "high" ranking will say the ones with "low" ranking are just inept players not worthy of playing with them. No one side is better than the other.
I've seen plenty of people say, "N7 ranking doesn't mean anything. Don't judge by it." Only to turn around and talk about how bad people with high N7 ranking are. The hypocrisy is laughable.

I just have the mentality to go by loadout and character choice only. I don't look at N7 ranking often. I'm curious as to how many other forum members do this.
Sorry for the rant. I just want to understand the irrationality some have.
PS: I wasn't calling anyone particular out. So if you felt that I did, I apologize. That was not my intention.

Thats bull. Everyone on Xbox isn't a raging a-hole just like Im sure everyone on PC isn't an elitist dick. Stop generalizing so much.

It boils down to this. People don't like to work hard. I see this in college on a regular basis. People will rate a professor low when they have to do homework. I've written essays about it, and gotten A's on said essays.

There are very few absolutes in this world, because we are all different. Usually my response is to give said person three messages, then give up.

Very This.  In fact I'm a gamer on both PC and Console, and am appalled when every thread that mentions particular system turns into a fanboy ****-jousting match.

We're talking about a particular topic, fanboys, a topic that is not hungry for your grossly misinformed, and fanatical opinions

N7 means nothing to me, I will play with anyone as long as they aren't a total butt about everything. I only promote to annoy my friend, he is trying to catch up to me.

If it's xbox it makes sence. Disturbing yes, but given the enviroment on there, makes sence.

Oh hey, I used to live in Anchorage 'til I moved away for college. Huzzah for AK.

One of my favorite guys to play with and some of his friends are around N7 2000-3000. I'm N7 ~330. He must really like promoting. I only did it for that weekend event or because I don't want to blow a respec card. It is kinda funny to see the discrepancy in the lobby but none of us conform to any "N7 stereotypes." It is true it means nothing, but I guess some peeps are slow.

That's probably becuase PC players CANT send angry messages to strangers, only people that they are friends with over Origin. Even then, it's only instant chat messages, not messages in the traditional inbox sense.

The issue of bad messages on XBL is not new. Fox News has been talking about it since Halo 3. But, as usual, they missed the point. This is more about parental control. Its so easy to prevent your child from dealing with bad people, its just people don't want to take the time

It's easy for somebody to be a tough guy on a mic. Like you said, most likely he wouldn't have acted on it, and it is a lil wierd. I played alot of Madden and get randoms that like to sound tough because they can't see me. I played a guy in my same state, and when he knew he was going to lose, started mouthing off. I gave him my address and told him he doesn't have the balls to say it to my face. Of course, nothing happened. Big tough guy at a safe distance

If he guessed where you live and made a death threat, you may want to contact the police, you shouldn't take any chances. I know it sounds ridiculous to suggest this when its just some dude online that made the death threat, but there are some sick freaks out there these days.

I find most of the N7 rank drama hilarious, honestly. Not trying to come across as some sort of know-it-all or anything, it just feeds the inner troll in me. If I don't feed it then things get weird and nobody wants that.

Lots of lulz to be had as an N7 65 in Silver and Gold with a SI/HI and a Mantis X + Extended Barrel V.

They see me rollin’, they hatin.
