The Smash nerf really only hurts people that don't sit behind a wall spamming it—you know, the players that are actually taking damage while they're waiting for the cooldown because there's nothing between them and the enemy. I really hope this change wasn't because of Glacier/Platinum farming, because here's a newsflash: it won't change it all. To whoever said it is now in the same cooldown class as Warp, well I wish it also had Warp's range and animation speed so I could sit behind cover and just pop out for less than a second to fire it off.

In what way were the Phoenix characters dominating so much they needed a nerf? Was it all the Platinum speedruns and solo videos? Oh yeah, I haven't seen one of those... It's another case where they are "balancing" the game around one strategy/class/setup at the expense of everyone else.

Please learn how to spell, people.  I've seen this spelling error plenty of times here today and it's frustrating.  It's RIFLE.  Not RIFFLE.  Makes it sound like a potato chip.  And it's PARTICLE, not PARCTILE.  Parctile sounds like some new kind of flooring.

Not really.  When I saw the reduced shield-gate that's what I thought too, but I've been using my single-shot sniper rifles all night (Javelin V and Widow X primarily) and I'm seeing no appreciable increase in damage.  So far it's been so incredibly minor that I'm not even sure the shield-gate reduction was actually implemented, it feels like it might have been written down on the list of balance changes as a placebo effect.


This, basically. I noticed no change using the Widow, except I could now do 1 bar of health damage to a Centurion. Hooray.

I never said BSN was not a portion of the feedback. It is. But its not the only one. TC was talked about since demo and it was nerfed because they felt it was the right thing to do, not jsut because of the players idea.


It was the timing that made TC look so suspect. They had months to change it, and waited until the uproar on the forums before they acted. Whether the forum posts played a  large part in the nerf or not, they managed it, in a way that made it look Like it did.

This basically, the buffs to the particle rifle, incinerate and carnage are so small that they make 0 difference in gameplay. The typhoon nerf was beyond retarded, smash nerf was pretty uncalled for.

Indra buff was not too bad. The 10% shield gate bleed through is a complete joke, still can't 1hit ko anything on gold with shields even with a javelin headshot.

Overall another week of changes that leaves me wondering if the balancing team actually plays their own game, certainly doesn't seem like it from the changes they make.

I read somewhere that they don't really because it isn't fun for them since they created it.  This seems to be a common trend with multiplayer devs.  When I used to play SWG I remember reading that those devs actually played WoW and they eventually ruined that game.

The ME3 devs are probably noob silver players.

I think the Typhoon should be renamed "N7 Tropical Storm" in honor of the latest unneccessary downgrade.

I checked your manifest - you don't even own a Typhoon or really any other N7 ultra rare weapon for that matter. So saying the Typhoon is OP is based on what? Someone else stealing kills from you in bronze or silver? I can light up bronze with my useless Eagle III so I suppose that is OP as well? For a good player, ANY weapon is OP in bronze or silver. Might I suggest you play gold or platinum and then tell me whether something is OP or not.

Unless you want to be an infiltrator, the Smash adept/vanguard was the only fun class to play (IMO). Now that they've screwed that, all that's left is to become a Slash-spamming wh*re, or switch games.

Again, what's stopping people from using Structural Ergonomics and the other power recharge gear?

That's kind of why we have them (might actually see people use SE now...I swear, in PUGs I never see SE at all)

Lol, like the direction the shield gate is going, but passing only 10%? That's just a crumb off the table again.

Big woop that I get 200 points on armor damage when a boss has 1 point of shield left.. wereas for all I can tell shield gate doesn't even apply to my shields.

Sorry, but again not impressed with the nerfs/buffs. Especially a second nerf to a UR that didn't need either nerf.

You got some examples?  I respeced my Krogan Sentinel the last time they buffed it and then used another respec card to change it back to an incinerate-free build.  A 10% base you could see?

I don't think you guys are following.  The TC nerf was basically a copy of the nerf idea in the 'Balance All The Things" group, with a few changes and the lack of the proposed compensatory buff to sniper rifles.  Fagnan even posted in the group that the balance team was discussing the group's ideas before the nerf came down.

I've always been squarely in the balancer group (those who propose both buffs and nerfs in the pursuit of balance), and have always seen this nerfer vs anti-nerfer notion infantile.  That said I'm starting to quickly become an "anti-nerfer" in light of the nerfs that BW is coming out with.  If this is how they plan on nerfing in the future I'm 100% against it.

Why dont you make the Typhoon a rare weapon while your at it? The nerf was way to harsh i would not use this weapon on gold anymore its waaaay to slow. Ok i dont have it maxed only at III but still.

Sorry, but again not impressed with the nerfs/buffs. Especially a second nerf to a UR that didn't need either nerf.

On the contrary, players get both a shieldgate and a healthgate.
Players get a 100% shieldgate just like Gold/Platinum enemies used to get, which is why a Nemesis' shot is always just enough to wipe your shields but no more than that regardless of what class you're playing.
Also, you'll notice that no matter how hard an enemy hits when it hits your health, you'll always have one little sliver of the last bar of health left after that hit; that's the healthgate.
Of course, enemies that hit multiple times in rapid succession are basically ignoring this mechanic, but it helps a lot sometimes.
