seems a bit off topic talking about smash in a typhoon thread (even though it got nerfed at the same time as the typhoon)

But about that, I don't mind the smash nerf, I found that it was being spammed too much anyway.

just pointing out that the typhoon wasn't the only thing to get screwed. It was a bad week all over for Balances.

Looks like the weapon calculator has been updated. Using both the same mods (piercing and magazine) How the hell is it the particle rifle out dps a typhoon?

It can fire 180 rounds, shut up it still owns all other AR's even with this terrible nerf.

The Harrier was arguably better before the nerf, so no it definitely does not "own all other AR's" now.

they might make smash even more powerful in the next balance changes and buff the typhoons bas damage by the amount of ramp up damage that it lost.

I'm waiting for this thread to be locked for all the fighting. Voice your opinion and leave. No point in sitting here insulting each other over what happened to a gun in a game.

On topic, that's really gonna mess with Platinum builds...Dest. got hit hard this week. Kinda sucks. But in our group, I was Demo, not Dest. So not my problem.

Of course there is still the issue of most people not even having either the Typhoon or PPR, the few who do dont have it at a high level.

My highest level N7 weapon is the bloody Talon, at MK6, its a brick, useless. Second highest? Palidin at MK5. Its not bad, but its still a heavy pistol, and I play as Soldier class...yeah, time to dust off my Revenant, shouldnt be too difficult since its only been 2 weeks lol

Typhoon... It's very important to consider that the user is in the open with the gun, and that this gun has a warm-up time each time you fire it. If you're firing on an Atlas while multiple enemies, especially nemeses (or phantoms), fire at you, you'll have to take cover before you down the Atlas to gain back your shield gate. Then, to begin shooting the Atlas again, you have to endure the warm-up, again. If you're unsure of your immediate surroundings, and take a quick look around, you have the warm-up, again.

Due to the warm-up, you can't use the gun on enemies that are any distance apart as effectively. If I'm shooting an enemy on one side of the floor in Goddess, and then I switch to an enemy that is on the other side, I'll either lose a lot of ammo to maintain the charged up ROF, or I will stop firing once I down the first, and then I will have to deal with the warm-up for the second enemy. All the while, I'm exposed. The nemesis is a problem for Typhoon users since one shot takes out all shields, and above silver, there are clusters of nemeses just waiting to hone in on you to prevent you from maintaining charged-up fire on an Atlas. That warm-up vs a Banshee and Marauders/Ravagers firing on you can get you taken out. Again, changes to the Typhoon's damage on the order of 25% are magnified due to the warm-up time.

The Typhoon is Ultra Rare, and BW understates just how rare it is. Most people don't have it at all, and many have just unlocked it (I'm one of those), and only have it at Level 1. It weighs a lot too, so any class that uses skills pays a huge penalty.

The Devastator Mode adjustment also wasn't necessary. Again, if people think 5% isn't much, don't take away the 5%. In some gold and most platinums, people are in tight situations a lot, especially on maps such as Vancouver and London. That 5% will decide if you survive those close calls.

Anything else I'd add was already addressed by Sp3c73r, who shed a lot of light on these changes.

BW. Please reconsider these changes.

I only felt it was hard to deal with armor, but still an awesome weapon, mostly considering that I was with Krogan soldier, no weapon consumable, no amazing bonus on it, ammo level 1.

also, how is the burst DPS higer than it's sustained DPS when it doesn't get a damage boost until after it's been shooting for 2 seconds?

Surprisingly you can (sort of)
Human Soldier AR Autostarts the Ammo Regen,
So does Enabling Devastator Mode.

The nerf dosnt feel that bad to me performance wise, only issue I had was people going 'oh noes a nerfgun user lets kick them!'

There is this attatchment for your gun... think it's called a Stability Mod. Yeah, that's the one. It makes the Revanent as accurate as you need it to be and there is this stuff called cover that furthers this effect.

Let's compare it to the revenant, the AR most similar to it, in detail. At rank 1 of the Typhoon, the gun does 44 damage per round that goes up to 61.6 damage per round. Which is, coincidentally LESS damage than a similar rank 1 revenant (63.6 damage) per round.

Typhoon is faster. Means more damage per second.

Even if the Typhoon could only shoot 1 more round It'd deal more damage

10 * 63.6 = 636

Aaaand if the Typhoon shoots ONE more round out...

11 * 61.6 = 677.6

TADA Typhoon wins by 41.6!!! ;)

Revenant still wins, the typhoon needs 1.75 secs to do 61.6 damage per round. You forgot that.  And the revy can stun enemies. The Typhoon is dead now.


Typhoon has inate armor piercing.
Typhoon has a larger clip.
Typhoon has larger reserve.
Typhoon is MUCH more accurate.

And as far as the "reving up" bit? it takes a whole 5 rounds to do so...whoopie!!
5 little rounds at a SLIGHTLY lower dmg...considering the Typhoon can continue firing for longer...i think 5 rounds is worth it...
