It's pretty bad. Let's compare it to the revenant, the AR most similar to it, in detail. At rank 1 of the Typhoon, the gun does 44 damage per round that goes up to 61.6 damage per round. Which is, coincidentally LESS damage than a similar rank 1 revenant (63.6 damage) per round.
That's odd, considering that you mentioned in a later post that the Typhoon I deals 44.4 damage. Which at 1.5 times, should equal 66.6 damage, which is definitely higher than the Revenant I's 63.6.
Do note that the Revenant only deals as "little" damage as it does at range due to its stability and recoil values, which makes it spray all over the place. And said problem disappears if you use the Revenant up close, where it absolutely shreds stuff even on Gold. When deployed from cover, the Typhoon should have less recoil than the Revenant, which means it has a much higher potential damage even at long range (don't have the weapon myself, but I have seen how accurate it is at the hands of other players). Considering that I dominate Gold games with my Revenant, the Typhoon is still the better gun considering its innate armor piercing and penetration abilities, combined with its cover accuracy and much larger magazine.

And whats the rate of fire of the two??
Typhoon is faster. Means more damage per second.
Even if the Typhoon could only shoot 1 more round It'd deal more damage
*THESE ARE NOT ACCURATE RoF's!!!*
Lets say the Rev shoots 10 rounds in 10 seconds...
10 * 63.6 = 636
Aaaand if the Typhoon shoots ONE more round out...
11 * 61.6 = 677.6
TADA Typhoon wins by 41.6!!!

I will admit that they could have perhaps made a shorter jump, but I suppose we'll see if it still works, and if enough people raise the argument, it might gain some effectiveness later, hopefully to it's base damage, which I've heard people say it could do with more of. (less of a damage rise while firing, but higher starting damage before the rise)

That behavior is exactly what I want answered. What is the difference? I will test it myself tonight. Its funny, once I got the Typhoon I have not used the revenant since.

Yes, it still has innate armor piercing, but they reduced it by 75% I believe the last time they "balanced" the Typhoon. So, while it still has that advantage, it's not as big of an advantage as some are making it out to be. Also, if you're going to compare the Typhoon to the Revenant, how about we also compare how many credits we've had to spend to get our level 1 Typhoons (if we have even that) and what we spent to get the Revenant X. The Typhoon is truly ultra rare. When you have to debate whether it's better than a much more common weapon, there's a problem. Thank God I don't spend microsoft points to buy PSPs. If I spent real money to unlock these weapons only to have them nerfed shortly thereafter I'd be quite upset. I might even feel defrauded to the point I moved on to another game. Luckily I just use the credits I get from games I was already going to play.

Revenant still wins, the typhoon needs 1.75 secs to do 61.6 damage per round. You forgot that. And the revy can stun enemies. The Typhoon is dead now.

It had enough negatives that it didn't need any nerf at all, let alone a substantial one.
- It's ultra rare. People that have rares at X are lucky to have it at I.
- Its damage sucks until it ramps up. It starts out at 250 RoF. To put that in perspective, that's the phalanx' rate of fire. And the phalanx is 2 tiers easier to get, an extremely light pistol, and does well over twice the damage per shot. You need to be exposed and doing crap damage for a couple seconds before the typhoon starts doing respectable damage. If you've played gold (let alone platinum), you know how often you have to shy back under cover.
- It's insanely heavy. Almost as heavy as the javelin. Meaning it's only good for characters not concerned about their cooldowns. Which means very few. This isn't like the harrier that you can stick on some adepts.

Nope they reduced object penetration, like say walls and stuff. It still does good damage to armor without any AP mods. So that's one less slot. It's more stable than the rev so that's 2 less slots.
Basically you can stick a barrel and a clip on it or anything you want really and go bananas on your target. It's better than the rev in my books but it's also ultra rare as you say.

Seriously, thanks for the clarification. Having said that, the fact that the Typhoon vs. the Revenant can even be debated is seriously messed up considering the extreme difficulty most of us have had in either getting or leveling the Typhoon. Anyone making the comparison should be able to be laughed off the forum. The fact that they can't be is just sad to me.

I'm starting to develop a theory about that. When a new DLC comes out, Bioware intentionally releases one OP'd weapon and doesn't nerf it for a few weeks, in the hope that many of the players will spend their money on packs to get this 'great new gun' that makes multiplayer so much easier. With Resurgence, we had the Kishock, which was the best sniper in the game for headshotting bosses back when bosses could be headshotted. With Rebellion, we had the Krysae, which was a three-round rocket sniper with better than Black Widow damage and decent stagger in a large AoE. And now, with Earth, we have the Piranha, which is an auto-shottie with better DPS than the Claymore and only half the weight. The Kishock and the Krysae both got nerfed around the time that the next DLC showed up (when many people already had the weapons and most people weren't too excited about them anymore). So, assuming this is true, there will be a Piranha nerf eventually, but not for a few weeks more at the earliest.

- as it should be.
- i consider that a boon, instead of spraying bullets from the get go you get 4 warmup shots to get on target, each with a chance to stumble the target. I use this gun on a demolisher with a 0 in fitness on gold and im not scared to pop up and put them rounds down range. Half the time im not even in cover im walking forward towards the enemy.
- As intended, its for soldiers whose powers are either grenades or the occasional CC power like CS or PM. This gun was basically made for the soldier the only one who who have a problem with it is the turian. And as said above its even great on a demolisher on targets no even if they arent debuffed by HG.
