I remember reading where people were talking about Fiona having a child so Grey Warden's were NOT completely sterile. Duncan told Maric he would check on the child over time, and even give him updates. Arl of redcliffe knew Duncan. Alistair was hidden from Loghain both promised in the book with Maric's conversation with Fiona, and in game when Loghain had no clue Maric had another Heir.
Others almost certainly have put this together already, but Alistair = Fiona's Child? He was raised out of the Court as Maric promised (In Redcliffe/Chantry), Duncan specially sought him out and was adamant about taking him from the Templars. Alistair was simply lied to about who his mother really was, it wasn't a Maid in the castle. That's also why his "sister" was given a Soverign and more or less told to take a hike. Her Mother's death (however it happened) was simply conveinent timing to go along with Alistair's "arrival" at Denerim.
Just read through "The Calling" for the first time

While I don't plan on derailing your theory, the part about being given a sovereign could have easily been to get her to shut up about the fact that the king impregnated a commoner as well. It would've been seen as an embarassment and threat to Caillan and I'm sure they didn't want the local population to ever know about this other heir.

No, that's my point she's given the gold so she doesn't ask anymore questions. Easiest way to cover up is to have the fewest people know the truth as possible. Both Her and Alistair were lied to about his mother. Also think about it, if Maric impregnated ANOTHER women don't you think Loghain would've noticed somehow in that NINE month period of her around the Castle, much less others within the castle talking about it?

How would she have even known otherwise if it wasn't her mother? Goldanna only came because of what she'd heard, were it Fiona she'd have no reason to have even been paid off. I'm truthfully unsure as to how aware people are in Ferelden, or Thedas in general when they are impregnated so I can't answer 100%. All I can is speculate that were they aware the maid was impregnated she would've been moved far away from the castle regardless. Especially if it's a king's love child.
