There's the link from the previous thread. I'll refrain from childish insults and being blunt this time. So let's not get this one closed. >_>

That could be one way of looking at it, certainly makes it more palatable.
But now you also have the cultural implication that synthesis brings.
In the Synthesis slide show you have everyone practically holding hands and singing Kumbaya with these people actively cooperating with Reapers.
Reapers. As in the sky scraper tall machines that have been burning hundreds of worlds and wiped out trillions of lives on their first day alone. Who turned people into husks or melted them down into goo or something.
And suddenly everyone's just giving them an "Oh you..." face?
People would not, at all be cooperating with these things, let alone sounding as...almost elated as Edi sounds in her synthesis ending- "With all the knowledge of the previous cycles to aid us"
A blatant reminder that these are genocidal machines. That have commited countless massacres of entire civilizations throughout millions if not hundreds of millions of years.
You have cultures as diverse as Turian, Krogan, Asari Humans, Salarians everyone just lining up and smiling up at these things.
EDIT: And like an hour ago they were getting ready to do the same exact thing to you!
Not to mention the Catalysts own contradiction when he's feeding this to you saying
"Its not something that can be forced."
Then what the hell is Shepard doing jumping into that beam? Going door to door? "Hello. Would you like our once in a lifetime synthesis deal?"
The issue is that it isn't clear what time frame the slides for synthesis take place in. Certainly no one would accept Reapers immediately, buth with the avenues of communication that are opened up by the new picotehcnology, synthesis allows a better understanding of others. That, and with such large stores of knowledge the Reapers have, they'd be able to redeem themselves through their actions. I doubt that people were quick to change their views on the Reapers, and there would probably be some who continue to fight them (for instance, why is Miranada studying what appears to be schematics of Reaper weak points in synthesis?).
As for the line 'it isn't something that can be forced', I assume they mean that the Reaper form itself was an attempt at synthesis, and by forcing the Catalyst means 'violently grinding your flesh into a pulpy mass and reforming it in a sapient construct that has nanides that indoctrinate it' and not so much what we see in game.
The cultural aspect is overblown. If you open up new avenues of communication, understanding, and self-modification, you expect an explosion in diversity (like with the internet), not the ending of it. But with a deeper way of communicating, you can avoid some of the petty conflicts we current have. For instance, I bet we wouldn't be arguing so vehemently if we could swap our own subjective experiences like it is a youtube video. There is no real reason to believe war is totally gone, but there is reason to believe that understanding between different people is easier, and that has an ameolorating effect on violence in our galaxy.

The ending left me with a sense of hope. The Reaper threat was gone and people got to move on with their lives. Rebuild. Live a life free of the fear of being destroyed by flying space Cthulu's. It was the ultimate payoff for the sacrifices that were made, which made them feel less forced. It offered a realistic solution to defeating the Reapers, rather than us randomly becoming stronger for no apparent reason. The flashbacks before Shepard made the final leap, touch or shot were touching. Seeing the crew react to Shepard's death was touching. Seeing people band together after Destroy was uplifting. Seeing Shepard wield the power of the Reapers after choosing Control was reassuring. Seeing EDI celebrate her new life was amazing. The ending was a combination of many of the themes presented throughout the series. Hope, sacrifice, getting past differences, the greater good. It's this emotional satisfaction that let's me see past the leaps in logic.
Also, it's a work of fiction. Many of the movies and games today can be picked apart like this game, but they're not. If we spend every minute critiquing every pixel there's no way we can enjoy the game.

Thats almost identical to what I feel about synthesis. Good work.
About Miranda, she studies reaper weak points in the control slides as well.
