I'd seen this happen a few times, never really sat down to figure out the circumstances, though. It makes sense, since the Unreal 3 engine absolutely SUCKS at dealing with height differentials. Ever notice how your damn drone will go three times as slow while going up or down a stairs? Thanks U3 engine!

Of course, just standing on a stairs on Gold is probably not the smartest, but it can help if you're facing three of the magnet hands Phantoms.

Its not like anyone aside from a kroguard can get away with this.

But more on topic... Mind = blown. How on earth did you ever discover this? Everytime a banshees near me I just turn and run like a b*tch regardless of where I am. You'd have to be doing something highly counterintuitive to figure this out (like a krogan headbutt gangrape or the like)

Also, stairs are clearly overpowered, so look for them to be nerfed in the next balance update. <_<

The thing I worry about them actually trying to 'fix' the glitch is make them sync-kill more often and who win there? Or nerfing the kroguard.

Stairs have some...odd properties in this game. I've found that, on Glacier at least, Electric Slash can go up strair from half-way up, but from the bottom, seems to clip through the floor and miss people.

Why did we waste resources on that Crucible thing? We should have just built stairs everywhere!

It would put them to some trouble, but I could see them removing stairs and replacing them with ladders if they really didn't believe we deserved some vengeance against the magnet hands.

Protip : keep monitor wipes handy to wipe spittle off monitor on gold/platinum.

That's actual work, and not the typical 15 minutes of spreadsheet manipulation that goes on on Balance Tuesdays, so I think we'll be safe from that until the next "patch."
Plus, they've been too lazy to fix minor issues on maps like the ammo boxes on Condor or the extraction zone on Jade, I somehow doubt they're going to spend dozens upon dozens of hours to redo every map in such a way that there are now ladders everywhere. That's a fairly massive operation.

And again, this is caused by the Unreal 3 engine (more games struggle with this issue), so I'm not sure it's going to be so easy to fix for them.

Yeah, my Kroguard is definitely going to use this against the last Banshee in a wave. In fact, i think solo'ing Gold just got a whole lot easier.

Kudos.

My team was trying to suicide and I insisted on going out via Banshee grab. After headbutting two of them for over a minute on a ramp, I got the feeling that something might be up.

Also a concern of mine, but I imagine that's the least likely scenario. I'm hoping that's the least likely scenario, haha. Don't make me regret this Bioware.
