It's actually very forgiving for a sniper rifle... and more versatile than most, I think.  With 3 shots and a pretty quick reload, you have some room to make mistakes.   I think it's a great weapon for learning to snipe. 

Just gave it a quick test-run on a solo match (I wiped, so I'm back here...).  I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised.  I may have to rethink a couple of my infiltrator builds now!

That's what's so great about this game!  Although I tend to drift back to my SI time and time again, it's great to discover (or rediscover) new builds / characters / weapons / ideas and have fun with them.   That's what keeps the game interesting, at least for me.    Now that I think about it tho, I might be stuck in a weapon rut... hmmmm... see, you've made me re-think! Now I'll have to go try out some weapons I haven't played with yet...

I got my valiant for the 3rd time in a row now and while i do love the gun, i find its useless on platinum (as is all sniper rifles) it can still be fun to use on gold but doesn't do alot of damage. the mantis does 20% more damage w/o any mods and its a start weapon. and I'm pretty sure it does not have built in AP ability (although i think it should) and at level 3 barely does more damage then the viper does at level X but the viper has twice the clip size. I do love the no recoil, instant reload, and quick ROF it has but snipers need a buff and so does the valiant to be more usefull on gold and viable on platinum

That's why it is very good for platinum, you cannot take down bosses quickly, but the damage output is great.
Of coarse I mean if its used on infiltrator. I had good team on platinum and scored second (couldn't kill things as the destroyer with typhoon). Not for soloing but definitely viable (more than viable within decent team).

I use it exclusively on QMI, with all damage and headshot bonuses, AP and EB mods, grenade cap V.
SR rail amp III, adrenaline III, AP or warp ammo equipped - definitely best SR if you can headshot.

Everything except boss units has short life. And even on bosses you can participate with significant damage.
For someone who cannot snipe its useless, bodyshots take too long.

I've been wanting this gun ever since the first operation! It's the only one I still haven't gotten, and it's the one I've been wanting the most! I don't want another Eagle, BioWare! I want whatever this guy's having!

I'm very fond of the Valiant myself! When I unlocked it a couple of months ago, I didn't really see the point of it, since I'm a lousy sniper, but a while ago I gave the gun and the SI another chance, and it finally clicked with me. Enjoy it more than my GPS GI now, which was the only infiltrator class I could play before.
