I'm using the windows 8 release preview and since switching to it from the consumer preview I'm having the problem of changing from the game to the start menu or desktop whenever the mouse goes to the lower left corner of the screen. Windows 8 doesn't have a start button there like the older versions, but it stills appears a sort of menu whenever the mouse is there which makes the game go to background and show the desktop (or if I'm unlucky and am pressing the mouse button the start menu).
That it's extremely annoying and it doesn't happen with prototype 2 (the only other game I have tried after installing this version of windows). This didn't happened in the consumer preview as I played without any sort of "conflit" between windows and me3.
Probably isn't related to this but I'm using the lastest windows 7 drivers for my graphic card as the windows 8 drivers doesn't work all that well. There was holes in the graphics and random black poligns lying around. I only did 2 mp matchs like that so I can't say that those drivers are to blame and switching to desktop can happen a lot in one game or just don't happen at all, but it has happen enough in the last days to make try to find a solution.
I'm aware that me3 wasn't tested on windows 8 and there isn't any garantees to be fully compatible but is there anyway to force me3 to stay on top of every application? Playing fullscreen should do this until alt+tab for example, but it's not working correctly. That or just plain disable that pseudo start button that literally does nothing that can't be done with the windows key or the other side of the screen with a few more clicks (which although also have the same kind of menus doesn't cause any problem) but I suppose I will have more luck with that on the windows 8 foruns.

Hi there,
- If you are using an AMD GFX and want the drivers, you can download them from here http://support.amd.c...SupportHub.aspx by filling the box in the right corner.
- If you are using Nvidia, you can continue with your normal GFX drivers as they posted it's support on Windows 8 at http://blogs.nvidia....-certification/ .
If you are having issues with the Metro UI interface, you can disable it and use the normal start menu back by following the instructions at this video .
Wish I helped, thanks!

I have an ati mobility radeon hd 3650, but they don't allow to use windows 8 on the search. I did found an article saying it was compatible and for the consumer preview I found some drivers for windows 8 from amd but I couldn't find the file or the page from where I downloaded them so I had to use a workaround to "trick" windows making it think that those windows 7 drivers are actually the windows 8 drivers from microsoft or they would just be overwritten by the default ones because they were more "up to date"...
It seems that for now switching to the older interface of windows might be the best solution which is a shame since even on windows foruns that was all I found until now. I actually like not having the start button there and the new start menu. Thanks for your help :)

Unfortunately AMD doesn't support Windows 8 at the moment for your current GFX card, but you can check this link for some amazing information which might help you to run ME3 virtually on Windows 7 while using Win8 http://lifehacker.co...-8-side-by-side , it's a little bit difficult to do but it's really great :D.

Well they stated that it is supported and they had drivers for it for the consumer preview (and I spent a lot of time checking that those were the correct drivers as it's an old graphic card and it surprised me a lot to see official drivers for it). I will check that link. Having to see the score at random times just for the sake of putting the mouse pointer in the top right corner of the screen isn't that much fun although it helps a bit while searching for a way to just add the start button and go back to the traditional windows completely.

So far AMD is supporting Win8 drivers for the 7,6,5 only series, like AMD 7650HD and such products starting only with these numbers, good luck.

That's what I found too. But here it says it's supported with the 1.1 WDDM. The release preview if I'm not mistaken it's using the 1.2 WDDM (Enginering sample) or something like that. I don't remember exactly, which apparently it's not supported in the 3650. Maybe that's why I can't find those links for the drivers I found before, or maybe those drivers weren't developed specifically for that model, but worked on it too. It was a long time ago so I can't remember exactly except that it stated that those drivers would work on my model. I will try to find if that is the problem or the consumer preview drivers from microsoft (although those didn't worked that well either on Diablo but I got bored of it anyway).
That link you sent is for a dual boot. I'm not using dual boot on my laptop, although with a preview I probably should. I guess I'm just trying to find an excuse to format the disk again xD.
Thanks fors your help again, it gave me another way of looking into it :)
