What does "Disoriented" status do, exactly?

The wiki page on the Disorient talent notes that it sets a corresponding "Disoriented" status flag. But it doesn't say much of anything about what that flag actually does and very little comes up in a search on it. I gather there are some combos in DA2 that use it, but does the flag do anything in Origins? I found one reference somewhere that said it gave -50% defense, which would be quite useful, but it sounded like that was maybe just a DA2 thing and that the Disorient talent only gave -5 to attack and defense, which is most likely a waste of mana.

Yes, it inflicts -5 attack and -5 defense penalty for 20 seconds. Kind of less useful and situational, i guess, more so as the game progresses. The enemy's flagged status can be used for triggering tactics.

The enemy's flagged status can be used for triggering tactics.

But there wouldn't be any particularly exciting reason to do this, right? Apart from the meager -5 Def? It's not going to give Zev auto-backstabs or anything, correct?

Assuming that's correct, then the Disorient talent seems about as pointless as I thought, once you get far enough in the game to have a reasonable roster of skills.

Yes, it's pretty much useless. And yes, no auto-backstabs.
