I wish to override the two most common *Light* Armor graphic textures for female elf.  I just seek their filesnames (???.dds) so that I may replace them with files from Mod "A Little Skin Scale".  The armor is labeled as "Light", but it looks like metal. And, there are two common looks: one has lace-like appearance around the neckline and the other has no trim.  Specifically, I wish to replace looks of "The Felon's Coat" and "Wade's Superior Drakeskin Leather Armor".  Thank you.

Light armour is all leather. You must mean medium armour. I'd say pf_arm_medb_0d.dds, pf_arm_medc_0d.dds & pf_arm_medd_0d.dds would be the ones you want:

Ah, I was thrown by the reference to scale armour in your original post. Here are the light armour meshes:

I'd say pf_arm_lgta_0d.dds and pf_arm_lgtd_0d.dds are the two textures you are chasing, but if not the other two aren't hard to figure out.

Perfect!  Now I may window-shop the armor Mods and try on new outfits.  I really appreciate you DarthParametric !

Thank you so very much,
: Sofie "The Dark Warden" (well, so nicknamed by the Denerim rogue underground anyway).

So far replacements have worked well. I am curious though, is it possible to replace a Light Armor mesh (filenames: pf_arm_ltg?_0?.dds) with a Medium Armor (filenames: pf_arm_med?_0?.dds) Mod? When I tried this, it appeared as two armors blended together!

I think you'd have to edit the MMH and MSH files in the GFF editor to change the name fields. Simply renaming the files themselves isn't going to be enough.

How do you replace the texture for the medium armor gauntlets and boots?

DP: Oh my.. seems complicated! I haven't tried any editing tools yet.. do you mean that "pf_arm_med?_0?.dss" is a container file, so I need to open it with a "GFF editor", and then open the MMH and MSH files contained within, then change their "name fields" to match the new filename? Thank you.

A DDS file is just a texture. It's the model files I was referring to. Run the ERF editor in the toolset directory. Go to File -> Open File and browse to \\\\[DA INSTALL DIRECTORY]\\\\packages\\\\core\\\\data\\\\ and open modelhierarchies.erf. Find the relevant models listed in the picture I posted above. For this example I'll use ef_arm_meda_0. Highlight ef_arm_meda_0.mmh, ef_arm_meda_0.phy, ef_arm_meda_2.mmh, ef_arm_meda_2.phy, ef_arm_meda_3.mmh, and ef_arm_meda_3.phy. Right click and choose Extract Resource, then extract them to a folder somewhere. Run the GFF editor in the toolset directory. Navigate to the folder you just extracted those files and open them in the GFF editor. You should see this:

What you want to do is edit the MMH_NAME field and change it to the armour you want to replace. For this example I'll use ef_arm_lgta_0:

Now choose Save As and save it as whatever you changed the MMH filed to (in this case, ef_arm_lgta_0.mmh). Do the same thing for the PHY file. Rinse and repeat for the other files (the _0, _2, _3 files are just scaling level of detail versions of the same model).

Go to My Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\packages\\\\core\\\\override\\\\ and create a new folder. Call it whatever you like - for example, beth1 elf armour. Put your modified MMH and PHY files in this folder. Now run the game and see what happens.

I haven't tested this but it should, in theory, work. Basically you are overriding the default light armour MMH file with your new one, and it calls the mesh and material for the medium armour.
