Never been a Final Fantasy fan so I really dont care what Square does but wasnt XIII considered the worst in the series or is the whole series as rubbish as XIII? XIII was the first Final Fantasy game I ever tried and I barely got passed Thor (or Odin, cant remember) before I sent the game back to the firey hell from whence it came, cant imagine why it would get 1 sequel let alone 2.

Wait....there's actually going to be a FF XIII-3? A First-Time Trilogy in Final Fantasy?

Never been? Well let me clue you in.

Each FF game is the worst. The one preceding it is given a pass and the new one condemned, even though it makes more money than any other FF game. Just the way it is.

And yes, it is considered the worst. Though, I loved it and I've played it, III (the REAL III) and VII so far.

Either that or another XIII game, and I can't imagine what else it could be.

You're right, it IS the latest in the series technically.

I heard that game was awful at release, but I also heard it's gotten much better, as Square fixed all the crap wrong with it.

Just what I heard though. I don't follow FF. :P

Ah so each Final Fantasy game keeps getting worse and the only reason the others are viewed in a good light is because with every new release the fans see just how bad the previous game could have been? Like when XI came out the fans were all like "Well X sucked but at least it wasnt as bad as XI" and when XII came out they were all like "Well XI sucked but at least it wasnt as bad as XII" until they hit rock bottom with XIII and the fans said well "XII sucked but at least it wasnt as bad as XIII"?

Is that what you were trying to say or did I read you wrong?

He's saying that the FF games get unfair hate, because the games change everytime, and the fans are always expecting them to stay the same.

At least that's what I thought. And if it is what he meant, it's true. FF fans are the most indecisive bunch of people ever.

Let me put it to you this way:

The older games in the series are very outdated and few people can appreciate them who weren't around when the games first came out. The graphics were terrible, the random battles were maddening, and the English translations were often butchered. But that's the way it was, and we liked it.

The newer games are too far removed from the FF games of old for diehard vets like myself to like - they are designed to appeal to a newer, younger audience whereas the FF games of old appealed to old fogeys such as myself. We relish in tedious grinding and incredibly annoying random battles every couple of steps. All of teh noobs can have... whatever it is that the new FF games are like. :P

Not what I meant, no. What I mean is the fans all have a favorite and the further FF gets from their favorite the more they hate the later games.

Now now goron, this line is especially not fair. I'm about 50 hours into my third XIII playthrough and I've done aboutten hours at least of straight-up grinding. On my first I had 93 hours and I still had tons of side missions to do--and there's a certain part where you can unlock a stronger form of an enemy after you do some missions. I did it, and found the new enemies stomping me into the ground, so I reloaded. At about 93 hours in.

93 hours may not seem like much for an old FF game, but in this day and age it's quite a lot.

Ive only played XIII so I cant really judge the other games in the series but from I have played of XIII I would say that the hate was perfectly justified.

Oh well in that case one would think you would be right at home with XIII then.

Well in that case I give FFXIII credit for keeping the tradition alive - god bless random battles and grinding.

Though I can't imagine anything in FFXIII matches the tedium of mastering every single Materia two times over (while simultaneously breeding and racing Chocobos until you breed the coveted Gold Chocobo), or committing Yellow Jelly genocide trying to get the coveted Rainbow Pudding that only has a 0.4% chance of dropping.

Then again, stranger things have happened - and this is Square we're talking about here.

No, I don't think it does. Materia-building is a mind-numbing process.

Well the good news is that you don't have to master them a third time, as long as you put Emerald Weapon six feet under - hence breeding a Gold Chocobo so you can Knights of the Round that biatch over and over again until he goes down.

(You could've also just killed Ruby Weapon and got a Gold Chocobo, but that's the coward's way out)

...yea, I have no idea what you're talking about.

...I haven't played all the way through. But I've played enough to get a feel for it. I plan to finish it, but it will take some time.

LOL.

FF can't win. For people like you, it's too tedious, and for the old fans, it's not tedious enough.
