I swear, if it's anything but new singleplayer DLC, or an announcement of another major Mass Effect game (ME3 for WiiU doesn't count) then I will flip ***! Just kidding, I still will be dissappointed though. Comic-Con got me so hyped about a new announcement, and the only thing we got was a picture of an Atlas underwater, which was still pretty cool, but I expected more than just a picture.

If nobody has heard yet:

Tully Buckland on Twitter: "Good morning! #MassEffect fans should keep an eye out for news that'll come out later today :-)

So definitely something about Mass Effect :-P

I have set my expectations low for now. There's no need to get hyped up for something that could let us down again.

EA & IGN....mwahahaha... this shall be good.

They will laud themselves with praise, reveal the numbers of MP downloads and playtime, talk of the success of the EC and use the word closure again..................then they'll mention something about SP dlc right at the end to leave us exactly where we are already.

LOL

I agree, conspicuous partnership much?

They are related through corporate ownership.  IGN is a part of CBS Interactive.  And EA has a relationship with Viacom which has a relationship with CBS.  It all gets confusing because the original Viacom became CBS corporation and another Viacom was spun off.  IGN seems to be their de facto "press" outlet.

I think it's just another part of the consolidation of all media that took place.  EA owns the licensing for products based on CBS products.  Doesn't mean IGN and EA are in bed together even though Allers was in Shepard's.

I was talking to my brother earlier today and told him that there would possibly be an announcement of singleplayer DLC. He asked what that meant. I told him that it would be another mission to play as Commander Shepard. He asked if you could play it with others. I told him that it wasn't multiplayer. He said that it was stupid. At least he likes Mass Effect to some degree. I can't get him off of that multiplayer mode.

I'm calling it now, a Facebook game where you can play as any species and go on simple quests with others. I'd actually play that.

The thing is there's nothing wrong with a Mass Effect multiplayer game.  If they want to go ahead and make an MMO, fine.

But, there's this saying that's been around for a bit--you dance with the one that brung you.  It means that you don't forget the one that was with you all along.

ME3 was a real departure from ME1 and 2, in terms of gameplay, combat, ending, parts of the story, MP, and even the way the characters acted.  Bioware execs said it was a great standalone title.  And that's what's wrong with it.  It was a middle finger in many ways to loyal ME fans.  Many if not most of the people that played ME1 and 2 felt somewhat abandoned.  And all the choices made before in 2 games didn't matter at all to the outcome.  Then the ending was totally like it came from some other game or it was starting a whole new story.

MP is ok, but not if it overshadows what ME was.  I've heard a lot of people say they didn't care too much about the dialogue in ME3, they were all about the fighting.  Well, that's the point-that's not the type of person it was supposed to appeal to.  It's great if someone like that likes ME3, but ME was a balance between action and story, with story being far more important.

The way I feel, they could have release another game Mass Effect Multiplayer and gotten rid of the meaningless fetch quests with reaper tag and filled in the story part of the game, even if they wanted to better lay the groundwork for the (ugh) kid.

Instead, they seemed to be trying to lose their original core fans and get people that just want to play MP.

I do enjoy multiplayer immensely, but if it wasn't for my love of the universe, I would have stopped playing long ago. I think that ME3 tried to appeal to too many different people instead of appealing to the established fanbase.

They are certainly hyping it more than usual. I'd guess DLC.

Not holding my breath. There's no reason to think it won't be an announcement of an announcement or something equally lame.

Now with 0.3 more endings - the Party Ending, where the Crucible becomes a colossal DJ station and all its colors are combined, turning the Citadel and Mass Relays into giant strobe-lights allowing the organics and Reapers to party hard into the night.
