Tetsuo the Ironman?
*SIGH*
This is Tetsuo

He has a fetish for metal, and it leads him on a path to becoming an inhuman monster. It's one part cyberpunk film, one part thriller with a hint of avant garde story telling.

This is what came to mind. Tetsuo from Akira who also ends becoming a monster for very different reasons.

Cartoons aren't real filmsEspecially the anime ones where they scream each others names for 10 minutes before something happens.
Who's talking about cartoons?

My bad confused the film with the cartoon picture.

Oh look an obscure move that only you've heard about if we're going there than why haven't anyone mentioned The Last Dragon?

That was pretty funny.
And thank you for reminding me of Dragonslayer with the title. There´s also 48 Hours in the action film category.

I have seen Starship Troopers and while I loved it, especially cause it's freaking awesome (No I don't need to give any other reason), I must say that it lacks the one deciding factor.
Someone to stand his ground against this guy.
After 5 hard rounds, RoboCop wins via unanimous decision.
OK, I get your point : Better one great villain than a few despicable heroes...
Robocop wins 1/0!
Now... What would you think about a movie where everybody would be utterly ugly...
Challenger 2)
Dobermann, Jan Kounen, (1997) (Warning : In France it is rated forbidden below sixteen because it's violent).
Since a good picture worth thousand words, let's teach this little Mr Boddicker how to use properly a grenade...
BTW I'm sorry I couldn't find an english version of this scene on YouTube (but there is a german one of the whole movie).
I know they made an english sub-titled version, though.
Don't let that stop you however, you don't loose much ('Amen' said with the 'a' like in 'car' is just the French way to say 'amen' after all. And it is said by a former priest in the movie
"Il est où? Il est où?" means "Where is he? Where is he?"
The rest is just religious mumbo-jumbo said by the said former priest.)
The strong point of the movie isn't at all about such subtleties (so unlike Robocop), but just plain brutal cops' exploding.
Be not afraid by its French origin, no jury member in his right mind would have said a single kind word about it, if it had got any chance to be played within the Cannes Festival contest.
Personally it's no more my cup of tea, but I must admit that when I was a teenager (below 16) and tried to emulate Monica Bellucci's gipsy-punk mute character, I saw this movie a few times (cheating my way into the theater by the exit door). The best one being at the Cinema Festday in Paris, where the full theater was cheering out loud, applauding and screaming at each cop's thrashing... Just like this other one...

I haven't watched that since I was 16 years old, but all I could remember was that it was action filled. A valient effort, but one thing makes this film lose.
There's no real good guy, no that long haired french guy isn't a hero either. I don't know about you, but for me the good needs to win.
I do remember one awesome scene, where the deaf chick turns up the sound in the disco or club or whatever it was. Actually I should watch it again I think, either it's as good as I remember or as bad as I forgot.
That film reminds me of that other french/american film with Eric Stolz where they rob a bank, and where the lead french robber ****s the asian guy during their drug haze right before the robbery.

OK, I get it, you want great villains but light hearted spirit and hope too...
Those are actually lacking in both Starship Troopers and Dobermann.
You must admit though, that Mr Botticker would look like a gentle flower in the later movie!
(And I have a hunch you wouldn't be that much sensitive about it... but Vincent Cassel is in his sexiest role, ever...)
I think you would be a bit disappointed. It's a funny movie in its own way, but not really a good movie (as I said, not subtle at all) and Paul Vervoheven is a much better director than Jan Kounen, IMHO.I do remember one awesome scene, where the deaf chick turns up the sound in the disco or club or whatever it was. Actually I should watch it again I think, either it's as good as I remember or as bad as I forgot.
I just proposed it to see if your main focus was really about bad guys...
It must be Killing Zoe , Roger Avary (1994), I was to young to see it when it came out, but I saw it later. That film reminds me of that other french/american film with Eric Stolz where they rob a bank, and where the lead french robber ****s the asian guy during their drug haze right before the robbery.
I think it is better than Dobermann, but it is a really sad movie too. The funny thing is that Jean-Hugues Anglade is so much frightening, while he usually plays very nice sweet guys.
So, Robocop wins 2/0!
But I think Mr Boddicker shouldn't interfere too much from now on, since I found woArse than him (unless you disagree?)
As a reminder, your criteria for a perfect movie :
M25105 wrote...
Big ass guns/Clarence Boddicker, the baddest of the bad guy who makes the Joker look like a little ****/ Mutants/ Hot chicks/ Criminals getting shot in the nuts/ The epic "You have ten seconds to comply." scene/ Robots/Brutal cop killing/ Drugs/ Car chases/ A mockery of the future state of capatalism through black humour.
+ A victorious good guy
THE cheesy action film.
I challenge you to find something better!
Now, Let's see :
Challenger 3)
Desperado, Robert Rodriguez (1995)
CONS / PROS :
No futuristic 'big ass' guns / But the hero has... a guitar suit-case!
No single great villain/ But, would you need a Mr Boddicker if you had such bar-tenders and knife-throwers?
No Mutants and Robots/ Those Mexican bandits don't need a plug...
No car chase/ Really heavy on the gun-fire side.
No Drugs/ Just some sort of beer...
No score of hot chicks/ But I'm sure that Salma Hayek make for it.
No mockery of anything (as far as I can see?)/
/A HERO , Antonio Banderas *HIIiiiiii!!!* (hysterical groupie's scream)
No "You have ten seconds to comply." epic scene/ But here, another epic scene :
Steve Buscemi tell the story of a bar... in another bar
Besides,
Desperado has something which I value very much (I know, I'm cheating since I said my own opinion was irrelevant), it has music! (Naturally, that also depends much on each one personal tastes) :
Just a glimpse of it (and to remind how Mr Banderas was HOT in that damn movie)
Cancion del Mariachi

Desperado did have an awesome soundtrack. I actually learned the words to Cancion del Mariachi and burst out singing it in class at an inappropriate time.

I'm out of topic here, but if you liked Desperado's soundtrack (or simply straight guitar) you also may like this :
Friday Night in San Fransisco_ Rio Ancho
It is only instrumental (3 guitarists, no singer, nothing else) but it's hot!

What mutants were in RoboCop?
Toxic waste was dumped on one of the bad guys near the end and he became more or less a mutant.

I second Desperado and even think the sequel/prequel(?) with Jonny Depp thought that was fun to.
Prequel : El Mariachi (1993), Really good movie!
Sequel : Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003), with Johnny Depp too.
