Actully El Mariachi is a great film. The 93 one I mean.

As to best film I agree with Robocop being good, but my Vote is for

Seven Samurai, which inspired the Magnificent Seven

And Kagemushi is anotehr great classic film.

If I had to go stateside, going with Return of the Jedi.

Hey, I even did see this one! Which is actually very exceptional because horror or zombies movies are pretty much the only kind of movies I never go to see.
Yes, that's another good challenger!
I think Sam Raimi is really good at that sort of cheesy funny movies too (The Quick and the Dead, 1995)
