It seems like maybe only 1 in 10 games will I hear anyone say anything. But only once in all my games had anyone replied to them. It seems like no one is using it :(

I haven't used mine much at all in the past, but today I got in a group with a few guys using them so I plugged in as well and I have to say I did find it more enjoyable than playing the quiet game.

I was under the assumption people actually communicated during mp matches, soooo I bought a mic. I barely ever hear anyone talk. Are people afraid of waking their parents up or something?

I don't want to hear someone's life story (like the little stoner bastard who talked about weed nonstop one time.....that's so highschool.....), but simple banter like: "hey there's a Banshee creeping up on you" would help from time to time. If no one talks during a match, then I don't either. Other than saying "good job guys" at the end of an extraction, it seems like there's no point.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention. I notice this happening a lot in the lobby - hearing what sounds like a burst of white noise (think speaker static) and the person's blue mic volume icon goes up, then goes silent. My mic works fine so idk I guess a lot of people have crappy mics?

i play mostly pugs. most people in pugs either don't have a mic or don't listen to you when you try to help them. so stopped using mine for this game.

Talking to stranger in MP is like talking to strangers on the city bus. I would not do it, but some people do.

I disagree, the fact you are both playing MP on the same platform shows you at least have a bunch of hobbies in common with these strangers. Catching the same bus as someone shows you have nessicity at best in common.

I use my mic once in awhile. Sometimes with friends (usually I'll have it on and I wont say much).

I don't hear much on PC mics. One issue I have is that there is no way to really know if the mic level is correct. When I do hear a mic, sometimes it is loud and clear, but often so quiet there is no way to understand it unless all battle is gone. When I do say something on mine, it is almost always a reminder at 30 seconds or 20 seconds or 10 that extraction is about to occur. I've also been known to comment on how messy it is when a banshee just pulled out my guts, and warn people that she didn't wash her hands.

One very useful benefit of mics is that down teammates can actually be useful, and rotate around another character to warn them about enemies sneaking up on them so they don't have to worry about it.

perhaps it is my accent....

Fortunately I speak German, French and some Spanish, it's the americans that usually have problems. Most europeans can understand me just fine, but there are a few players that had problems with my accent - or lack of it.

Most english speaking people think i'm british.

The other week I came across a Scotsman - now THAT is a linguistic adventure(even moreso when they are heavily inebreated). They use so much slang that it becomes a massive communication barrier.

"o' you wee gallus skunner, git oot of me face"

Thankfully I have spent time in Scotland and Ireland so I can understand most of it..and I have to admit sometimes my language does slide into the vernacular...perhaps that is the problem.

I use my mic if others will use it in a pug game, otherwise I tend to let the silence remain golden. Matches with friends are by nature much more talkative.

I've played with a Scotsman once. By far the most hilarious match I've ever been a part of.

I know, the one I came across was playing a Krogan of course - and to tell you the truth, I think Krogans should all have scottish accents - it just works so well for them.

If others are, yes.

If I'd basically be talking to myself? No.

I use my mic in every match... if there isn't at least one person communicating, I leave.

Communication = superior teamwork.

I got no problems talking to complete strangers... I'm pretty sociable. If they don't like me... F' em. They're strangers afterall. In fact... every person I play ME3 with on my friends list is a direct result of PUG communcation one way or another except Sweetroll Ninja, GP, defleshing and Bahroo (I met them on BSN).

This is what I do with a friend of mine when we play, but that's TS not in game. I wish more people would use their mic on PC, even if the chatter is largely inane. I get bored of silence and death after a while.

Yeah I use mine but my voice is all soft and high pitched. I usually warn people about the phantom that just killed me or say thanks if they revive me. It is very rare to hear a reply though which is a shame.

Works only for first match for me, after that mic does not activate. That's why I use external voice servers like mumble or ts for communication.
