I'm unsure if it's already been addressed or mentioned but when you
Shapeshift as a Mage the damage you do is actually based on your
Strength attribute as opposed to the Magic attribute like it says in
the Shapeshift description.

I was a level 20 Mage with max Shapeshifting and I was going 11 dmg per hit, when I hit, which wasn't often.

The damage you do while shapeshifted is increased in accordance with your Magic attribute, like the tooltip says (most of your attributes while shapeshifted is affected this way for this matter). Or more precisely it's scaled depending on your Spellpower which is mostly (Magic - 10). It's just in its original form the Shapeshifting scales that damage up very slowly and there's some bugs in how some of the attributes are calculated, to boot.

You might want to try this modification: http://social.biowar...m/project/1317/  it tries to address this issue by making the damage scale better with your Spellpower, although depending on how high your Spellpower it is likely to wind up still not matching the damage output of the melee classes (either ending too strong or too weak, relatively)

Sadly the damage you do while Shapeshifted DOESN'T scale in accordance with your Magic attribute, that's the point of this post.

The tooltip says it does, but when I tested it (levelled up and increased spellpower (Magic), then reloaded and levelled Strength, it only increased when I increased the Strength attribute.

There is a mod (several in fact) that lets you shapeshift instantly. Shapeshifting is still useless. You do next to no damage, are still squishy, and you can't cast. If you pair it with AW you are superwasting, but even with BM or SH it's useless.

I have the respec mod and take all Morrigan's shapeshifting spells away, but leave her as a shapeshifter for roleplaying purposes. Just put those spell points into something that's actually useful. As for making a PC shapeshifter - forget it.

If it was a case of powerful mage who does great dmg/healing/cc but is squishy, starts taking big damage from a mob, shapeshifts and loses spells, but is now melee/tanking monster who slays them - yes. Otherwise, a waste.

Edit: I agree with the poster who said Reaver likewise sucked. Although it's still better than shapeshifter. Templar I like, though Berserker and Champion are better. Blood Magic also poor (imo) and the skills available in the Warden's Keep are pretty useless too (only the rogue ones are worth the effort, also imo).

I think that since the offices are closed or so, it would be wise to bump this topic on 4th january or later

Either they change the internal description or the behaviour...
