The gun feels...ok. Before the nerf it was a well balanced gun. Now it's just ok, don't really see the need for UR as it is now.

Yeah, just played 2 gold matches now with Typhoon-Destroyer combo and you can really feel the difference, the nerf was a bit much imo, wish they'd gone like 1.7/1.8 instead of 1.5 :pinched:

I don't even have the gun yet and it's been nerfed to fook! Still usable from what I gather, but no longer worthy of it's N7 status.

Boom got his information from a guy in the "Balance All Things" group who PM'ed Eric Fagnan himself.  Maybe you can contact Boom yourself and find who it was.  Or you can contact Eric yourself.:)

Okay, so this is a popular issue. I was, for a small time, a user of the Typhoon-Destroyer combo, and have experience with it before each of the nerfs. I stopped using the Typhoon after the second nerf, because it wasn't viable. Instead I use the Particle Rifle.

I'll gladly kick anyone using sub-optimal builds in Platinum, including but not limited to; FQE, DVG, KroSent, BatSent, and maybe a few more. Blatantly choosing to use things like that on Platinum is asking for a kick. Not just because they're not up to par, but you're willingly lowering your teams firepower and chance of success.


I don't disagree with your assessment (except maybe Batarian Sentinel due to shield regen stacking) and I don't blame you for wanting to kick people. However, that itself is the reason you balance things in the first place: there is absolutely no excuse for having characters that are unworthy at endgame, nor is there an excuse to have overpowered characters who provide a clearly-optimal solution. This is why you nerf the Typhoon in the first place. Is the nerf too much? Maybe, but certainly not by much if at all. Small buffs would then be applied to settle things in the right spot (e.g. 55 -> 60 damage -- a 9.1% buff which sets the DPS well above the Rev and helps in the low end).

(For the record, I have no idea what to do with the Gethfiltrator. I don't think you can fix him. His power synergy is off the charts, and he'd still be pretty decent even if you nerfed his each of his powers into the ground while everyone else with those powers would suffer immensely.)

This nerf came largely out of left field; most attention in relation to balance was focused on the Piranha that avoided a nerf. I support this nerf wholeheartedly, but come on, man! Stop blaming these mythical nonexistent "nerfers". If I had to guess, the nerf came because of BioWare's own play data indicating excessive use of the Typhoon and Destroyer.

Destroyer with a Typhoon brought me back to the soldier class. I do believe the Tyohoon nerf was a bit much.

Typhoon is now a rare weapon at best and I think I'll replace mine with the Revenant in upcoming matches.

Even on a Human Soldier with AR, the gun is pretty weak now except for the fact you can fire 200+ rounds in a row, which you can never actually do since your out of cover.

ultra rares are ultra rares because there suppose to be good and more powerful than most other wepeon not just a rare with a fancey title getting epicly nerf because its good I say undo the nerfs from whinners who only care about score is there such a thing as a good gun in this game this is why i havent been playing much jelous people(noobs) get all good wepon and charaters nerfed

gethottime = 0.75
ramptime = 0.75

If I'm not completely confused what happens is it doesn't start charging until after 0.75 seconds, but at 1.5 total seconds of firing it's at full rate of fire and full damage. There might be a bug, in which case it doubles after three quarters of a second, but the intent is clearly that it will hit full power after 1.5s.

well written article OP, but I disagree, not because i feel the nerf was necessary, it wasn't, but because it is still a VERY viable weapon on the destroyer, sure it take a bit longer to kill atlases and banshees, but everything else is just going to have a very bad day if it decides to get in front of me, although i do hope they remove the nerf, the weapon was balanced enough already.

+1 to this, the Typhoon was not OP it did not need the damage reduction. All this accomplished to do is take another great weapon and make weak compared to Rare counter part until its level X which most of us will never get too and many people in ME3 will never know that the REAL Typhoon was since they still don't have it.

As I said earlier, no. The Destroyer only has one useful power: the Devastator Mode. Its Missile Launcher just shoots curving spitballs, and the multi-frag doesn't do anything helpful. The Destroyer is a well-balanced character and should not be touched.

 It already got nerfed, which make the Typhoon nerf even more weird. I think they should buff the missile launcher, making more people choose it, which is a balance, since the player loose shield to use it (which is not happening now).
Just for the record, I used classic soldier with Striker on Platinum, it was extremely effective =)
