It's not if you buy the right packs. I get roughly one Rare gear upgrade in every three SPs.

Do you ever play the game? I'm curious because you say you get one Rare gear from the Earth DLC every three SPs you buy, yet on your manifest you have not unlocked 5 of the Earth DLC so-called "Rare" Gear. Out of a total of 35 so-called "Rare" Earth DLC Gear drops, you have received a total of THREE. When it comes to "Uncommon" -- or as someone hilariously re-classified as "Unattainable" -- you have unlocked only one of the 4 gears with a total of only TWO drops out of twenty.

Earth DLC Uncommon Gear on your manifest:
Thermal Clip Storage (0/5)
Adaptive War Amp (0/5)
Engineering Kit (2/5)
Densified Ammunition (0/5)

Earth DLC so-called "Rare" Gear on your manifest:
Combatives Upgrade (0/5)
Martial Biotic Amp (2/5)
Juggernaut Shield (0/5)
Shock Trooper Upgrade (0/5)
Guerrilla Upgrade (0/5)
Omni-Capacitors (0/5)
Barrage Upgrade (1/5)

As mentioned in the OP, I have spent 28,000,000 credits (roughly) since I installed the Earth DLC and am still missing 31 of the Earth DLC Gear drops. In the meantime, I have maxed my Ultra-Rares to Level X -- including the Typhoon.

Bioware needs to get off it's collective butt and re-classify the Earth DLC Gear as something other than "Uncommon" and "Rare". However, they will not. My solution has been to stop spending credits and to save them for the next MP DLC. At least at that time, I will receive something for them -- rather than shaking my head in contant disappointment.

P.S. I have the 9th highest N7 in the world. I know that it means nothing to anyone but me, but it sure would be nice if it maybe carried some weight with Bioware. That they would at the very least reply or create a sticky thread saying that they're working on the issue. I know, I know -- wishful/foolish thinking :

I've spent millions upon millions upon millions of credits like you have. I'm the opposite of you, I can get the gear cards pretty frequently but the uncommon, and ultra rare weapons elude me. I hope to one day unlock the damn Typhoon.

I have stopped buying PSPs and am stockpiling credits until they fix this. Gear and Ultra-rares are pretty much all I have left, and quite frankly the best guns are Rares (except cerberus harrier).

all I have been getting is weapon mods and gear. I would like to get some of the new n7 classes and guns. So I am the opposite, would like to see some characters and guns.

Of the NEW Earth DLC Gear, you have received 4 of 20 drops of the so-called "Uncommon" gear.
Of the NEW Earth DLC Gear, you have received 9 of 35 drops of the so-called "Rare" gear.

So, your statement is simply not true -- at least when it comes to what the OP is talking about (Earth DLC GEAR). And unless Bioware addresses this issue (and assuming you continue playing long enough), you will max out your Ultra-Rare weapons long before you max out the Earth DLC Gear.

It seems once you max your character, rare/uncommon weapons, and mod unlocks, the RNG breaks and only gives ammo and other consumables. Very frustrating when I still have ultra rare weapons to unlock/upgrade as well as several rare and uncommon gear items. BW needs to tweak something in the RNG to correct this. I only get these drops when new DLC comes out and until I max the new characters and weapons. Once that is done, no more gear or UR drops.

I couldn't agree more. One would think that the more you max out, the better chance we have to max out weapons, mods, and gear bonuses, but I usually get ammo, or armor bonuses.

I'll direct people to my own manifest whilst pointing out that those rare gears that I have maxed out I maxed out AFTER the Earth DLC thus had the entire pool to select from. Naturally unlocked with PSPs too.

It's the new Earth DLC Gears that seem to be the problem.  Not necessarily ALL Gears.  You have no new Gear higher than Level 2.

You misunderstand. I only mentioned i'd unlocked a lot of the initial rare gears after the DLC dropped to indicate that the drop rates between the old and new is substantial and highlight the issue.

Gear are the only unlocks I care about at the moment (I never cared about the rare guns, I have been fine with the more gun like uncommon guns then the gimmick overloaded rares.)

At this point, I am willing to exploit the game to get another level of the multicapacitor. (Or get the stronghold gear to a point where it is stronger then my multicapacitor.)

Bizarre - so it might actually be the case that Gear is EASIER to obtain the LESS you have unlocked/maxed out???

I went to your manifest thinking that you surely misunderstood the OP, but for the first time ever, there is someone who knows what we're referring to -- and yet, they were right about the drop-rate being alarmingly okay for them. Of the new Earth DLC Gear, you only need 9 more drops (compared to my 31) out of 55 possible drops. So in other words, you spent around 100,000,000 credits? Kidding aside, I'm happy to finally see that someone is getting some of the new Gear.

Yeh.. no. Quick look at your manifest shows you haven't even maxed out the initial gear and have next to none of the new gear items (which are the big issue here) so uhm, your 'advice' is about as useful as a chocolate teapot i'm afraid.

The store for me is pretty good when it comes to gear. In two PSP I was able to get the Beserker package twice, in both packs to max it out. I just wish I had the same kind of luck with weapons.

...The people that have even a decent amount of Earth gear all have 200+ total level IV consumables.

That would be because level IV ammo and gear are mutually exclusive.

Look, in each pack you have (from left to right) between 1-3 "guaranteed consumable" slots, 1-4 random slots, and your "guaranteed character or weapon" slot. The specifics of each pack depends upon which pack you're buying, your current manifest, and your consumable count.

When you buy a recruit pack, you get 3 "guaranteed consumable" slots, one random slot, and your "guaranteed character or weapon" slot. The same is true if you buy a veteran pack. Spectre packs give you 1 "guaranteed consumable" slot, three random slots, and one "guaranteed character or weapon" slot. Premium spectre packs give you 1 "guaranteed consumable" slot, two random slots, and two "guaranteed character or weapon" slots.

What comes out of the "guaranteed character or weapon" and "guaranteed consumable" slots if pretty self-explanatory: you get characters, weapons or consumables out of those slots. The random slots are actually random, and that's where level 1-3 equipment usually comes from (and very rarely, extra weapons or characters). There are caveats. If you have 255 of a given consumable and you would get that consumable out of a pack, that slot is replaced by a random item. If you're buying a spectre pack or PSP, if you have maxed character cards and would get a CC, that slot is replaced by a random level IV equipment.

You do not get gear from "guaranteed weapon or character" slots. Those slots are reserved for, amazingly enough, weapons or characters (or, level IV equipment if applicable). Where gear comes from are the random slots -- slots 2-4 in the majority of packs, since slot 1 is always a guaranteed consumable and slot 5 is always a guaranteed weapon or character.

Theoretically, your absolute best odds at getting gear is to get 255 of each consumable (rockets, T-clips, survival kits and medigel) then buy spectre packs. That way, you have four slots in which gear can drop. Since maxing every consumable isn't terribly realistic or feasible, just buy spectre packs; the PSP exchanges the fourth slot from random to "guaranteed weapon or character" and denies you one additional chance to get gear for it.

That's why people end up with a buttload of level IV equipment, and end up shy on gear. They're probably spamming PSP's to get gear, thinking it drops in the guaranteed slots, when it doesn't.

I wonder if Bioware is not answering anything pertaining to this on purpose. If they told people somethings wrong, people would stop buying packs, and people certainly would waste msp on ammo.

I think it's because gears are consider ammo. So even if you have all of rares filled, gears might not drop because they are ammo, so people get level 4 ammo instead.

Solution: bring back premium vet packs, make them drop uncommon gear with a chance at rare.

I've been buying SPs since Rebellion, and it doesn't seem to help...

Are consumes the ammo/missiles/medigel/shield restore only, or are they equipment as well?

I think the best solution is to separate the cards into specific packs. Hell, I'd spend a 1,000,000 credits for a guaranteed Typhoon X.

Max out all of your consumables at 255 and it changes absolutely NOTHING. Like an overflowing toilet, you will still receive the same motherflipping consumables. Maxing consumables changes the drop rate for NOTHING in the store. Period.

I'm really not complaining, per se, but, for me, the drop rates are very low (low as in none), making me think that there might be a problem. I don't believe that I've picked up a single piece of new rare gear since the July 24th balance changes. I like the level IV stuff, so it's not a big deal, but I can't help wondering if something is screwed up with the packs.

I did pick up 8 of the new uncommon ones in this period and the new rare weapon mods all came in just fine every couple of packs or so. The new rare gear, however, eludes me entirely.

That's all the proof we need that the store is truly rigged. Such a shame really.

This thread isn't about weapons. That said, Bioware will never sell guaranteed Ultra-Rare weapons in the store. They make too much real life money on the SP and PSP purchases. With that said, you will have your Typhoon X long before you max the Earth DLC Gear, which is classified as only Uncommon and Rare. Comedy.

I actually PMed Derek Hollan about it, because I do think it's broken. Since the Earth uncommons didn't drop in SPs while Rebellion uncommon gear did, I'm pretty sure there's something substantially different about how Earth vs. Rebellion gear drops. Messaged him, but I basically got "We'll keep an eye on it, thanks" in reply, so I'm thinking it's either intentional or not something they'll bother with for a good while.

Very true, it's about the absurdity of us players spending hours a day, miilions of credits a day, to open a pack, and receive ammo or armor consumables.

I don't know what packs you're buying, but having maxed consumables swaps out "guaranteed consumable" slots for equipment for me. Well, maxed T-clips, medigel and rockets -- never could keep my hands on more than 200 survival kits at a time due to overuse.

It's pretty crazy that gears are harder to come by than weapons and characters other than URs. It seems ever since they made Ammo 3's into UC's, gears are hard to come by.
